Had my appt...seems the Nurse Practiontioner was a tad generous with her effacemnt and dilation. Dr. seemed to think I am 70-80% effaced and closed...tried as she might to get her finger tip to fit...I am happy and sad about this. Happy that I can continue on with life...bummed because now maybe things arent rolling along quite as smoothly as I hoped. Other than that all is well...........

Mel..when I feel Ive gained too much, I drink a ton of water...seems to bring me right back down..

Perl - October 17

Christa: sorry to hear that the NP's numbers gave you false hopes. : ( But at least your chances of making it another 2 weeks are good, right?! : ) ****Mel: last time before I went to the Dr. I weighed myself at home and I thought I had gained 10 whopping pounds in 3 weeks! Then when they weighed me it was only 6 pounds so there was some fluctuation overnight or my scale is confused. : ) Hopefully it's just one of those weird daily fluctuations for you too.

hi guys, i am 37 weeks due on November 9 and i hoping to be on time. I am very short of breath and I have gained a lot of weight, i would say 40 ibs in total. I see my ob on Friday but I have no contractions, no pains, nothing. I think i will go to 41 weeks and be induced. In Canada they induce you after eight days of due date which would be November 17 so baby born on November 18 or 19 or mabe i am hoping early. I think now I am at the point of tired of being pregnant, I am so short of breath and cant get of the couch, I walk slow and my whole body is in pain. I also am anemic which could be why am I tired. We have finally made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are almost there.Good luck to all

one more thing I wanted to say to all you women who are on second or third babies, is the pushing part the hardest? I am so scared baby wont come out and I wont have energy to push. I watched baby story on tv today and the lady kept pushing for hours. Please God I pray I dont have an anxiety attack or become short of breath during labour.

christa0120 - October 17

anna...I never got to the pushing stage. I would recommend however that you do the epidural and none of the IV narcotics. I was soooo stoned I don't think I could have stayed awake long enough to push. Stadol is awful....(it would be REALLY FUN on any other occasion but I wanted to be present for my son to be born...and I wasn't)...And keep an eye out for chills and bowel movements. When I was in very early labor with my 1st son, I was chilled to the bone. Soaked in a hot bath all morning long and drained my 50 gallon water heater and still didn't ever warm up...and I had the most (TMI) satisfying BM ever! and my plug also staring coming out at that time too...MY son was born via c-section the next day. Good Luck to you

annabanana - October 18

thanks Christa, are you having another c section or are you trying natural?

christa0120 - October 18

Anna and Perl...My early labor was spent with Stadol...(IV antibiotics)...Then I finally got the epidural....Anna...I am going to try a VBAC however I will not go there with any strong feelings either way. I just want my baby and I to get through it safely...either way. I have two kids to raise now and they need their Mama. So my "birth plan" is...Mom and baby come out of it healthy...Any way to get there is ok...No IV drugs...epidural as soon as feasible...

perl: I skipped all those cla__ses (My DH who's a doctor didn't feel we needed them) but personally, I 'm rather clueless on my C-section options. What would your suggestions be for planned C-section? Thanks.

MellyMel - October 18

Christa~~Does this mean you are not in labor? I'm not sure I understood your post. I have been drinking more water and it does seem to make me feel better, as if I'm flushing a lot of stuff out of my system. Perl~~Thanks, but I have a funny feeling my weight is accurate and I go tomorrow for my bi-weekly appt., so we will see then. Anna~~Don't worry about the not breathing or panic attacks during your labor; that is what they have the oxygen for in case you need it. I was really worried about that my first pregnancy, of course not knowing I would wind up with a section, but hubby rea__sured me they would give me oxygen or if it got THAT bad, I'm sure that they would give you maybe some sort of sedative or something to calm you down. You wouldn't be much good in active labor if you weren't all mentally together, so don't worry. They will take good care of you if need be.

MellyMel - October 18

Also are you all starting to feel miserable now at this stage in pregnancy?? I sure the hell am!!!

annabanana - October 18

thanks melly mel as long as I know i am in good hands and they can sedate me I will be fine. Miserable is not the world, each day is a struggle, walking, getting up, going to bathroom every few minutes lol and so tirreed. Mel when is your due date? are you close to mine NOvember 9?

MellyMel - October 18

Anna~I wish my due date was close to yours. I am having a scheduled section on 11/27. I am only 33w along. I envy you at what 37? Lucky b___h! LOL. Nov. 9th is me and hubby's anniversary. It will be 10 years this year :) I am so hoping to have this baby BEFORE my section date. I will be 39 weeks that Monday, but I'm hoping to go a week or two before.

Hi Mommies! Had my ultrasound today..got a really good look at my little one with it's b___ton nose and full and turned up lips...the cheeks looked chubby too!! My baby was sucking on her toes at one point and then it was making little movements with the mouth. Still head down back to the right. My tech told me everything seemed great..the amniotic fluid was perfect, and all the measurements checked out great. She guesstimated the babies weight at just over 5 pounds after taking all the measurements and said she thought the baby would be between 6 or 7 pounds. But that does not take into account the length so she said it could weigh more. You see I am just over 5'11 and my dh is over 6'2..so the baby could be long. I have my OB appointment tomorrow he will do the streb B swab test and he will also interpret the ultrasound for me tomorrow too! I finished all my thankyou cards from my shower and my hand is killing me. My ankles are swollen especially the one I had sprained in Florida. I am just so happy these last couple of days...I can't wait till the birthday of my baby. Oh and Mel don't feel bad about your extra weight gain. the baby is putting on all it's fat right now, your blood volume is double what it is normally, your uterus is 15 times the size it was before getting pregnant, you have your amniotic fluid, your placenta, the couple of extra pounds on the b___bs and the extra swelling and water retention that is prevalent in the last months of pregnancy..and don't forget the extra padding that is essential to the baby!! It's all good and enjoy an extra milkshake on me..you deserve it as does everyone here!!! Ciao Ladies..will talk to you tomorrow!! XO Kristin

MEL...last friday they thought I was in preterm labor. The NP thought I was 90%effaced and a finger tip dilated. I was sent home to behave myself and take it easy (bed rest prefereed) When I went for my appt Tuesday, the Dr. checked me out and thought that I was more like 70-80% effaced and not really dilated. I am now 34w5d...I am glad things aren't happening but kinda bummed that they aren't either. I am pretty close to done with this pregnancy business myself. I am just starting to get really uncomfortable, especially after eating...and not eating much at all......Kristen...so did you find out if your baby is a boy or girl for sure???? You were calling her a she in the last post...did I miss something? Anna...I am jealous that you are almost there!...talk to you ladies later

Perl - October 18

HappyGal: the Anesthesiologist told us that his wife used a spinal block for her c-section so that's where I'd start and it's what I'm looking into as my Plan B in case I do need that C-section (I'm supposed to find out in 2 weeks). I'm pretty sure it's the same option my friends who have had sections have used also. I'll have to double check with them and get back to you at some point soon. Let me know what you think you'll end up using. That's great that your dh is a Dr! How convenient and rea__suring that must be for you at times when you don't feel so healthy. Too bad he wasn't willing to go to any of the birthing or Lamaze cla__ses with you though. My girlfriend's husband is a Dr. too and he was not willing to do any birthing or lamaze cla__ses with her either. I say it's not fair because we (the ones dealing with the pain) are the ones who need to be educated at a time like this. Fortunately, there are lots of resources and books out there to help us out too. Mel: Am I miserable? Often, yes. It's tough to breathe sometimes and I've been tempted to use my asthma inhaler but I know it's not the asthma it's just extra pressure. I miss my pre-pregnancy energy level and my ability to move quickly and to bend down if I drop something, that's what I miss the most oh and I miss seeing the bones in my feet and muscle tone in my legs too rather than these pillsbury dough feet and slightly puffy knees and lower legs.
