HappyGal: the Anesthesiologist told us that his wife used a spinal block for her c-section so that's where I'd start and it's what I'm looking into as my Plan B in case I do need that C-section (I'm supposed to find out in 2 weeks). I'm pretty sure it's the same option my friends who have had sections have used also. I'll have to double check with them and get back to you at some point soon. Let me know what you think you'll end up using. That's great that your dh is a Dr! How convenient and rea__suring that must be for you at times when you don't feel so healthy. Too bad he wasn't willing to go to any of the birthing or Lamaze cla__ses with you though. My girlfriend's husband is a Dr. too and he was not willing to do any birthing or lamaze cla__ses with her either. I say it's not fair because we (the ones dealing with the pain) are the ones who need to be educated at a time like this. Fortunately, there are lots of resources and books out there to help us out too. Mel: Am I miserable? Often, yes. It's tough to breathe sometimes and I've been tempted to use my asthma inhaler but I know it's not the asthma it's just extra pressure. I miss my pre-pregnancy energy level and my ability to move quickly and to bend down if I drop something, that's what I miss the most oh and I miss seeing the bones in my feet and muscle tone in my legs too rather than these pillsbury dough feet and slightly puffy knees and lower legs.

Kris: Good your ultasound went well. I know what you mean about the chubby cheeks, so cute..can't wait to smosh em. Christa: well, even though you may not be 'officially' in pre-term, we are all at the stage when when we could at any time,now......I understand wanting to be done w/the pregnacy, on the other hand, there is a big part of me that wants to cherish these last weeks w/my little one inside me. It's such a special time, really. Of late, I feel like he is responding to my hand on my stomach..if I press a bit, he moves. It is so cool. Perl: yes, that is what I have heard, as well....the spinal is best. That's what I think I'll do. Ha HA.....on the dh doctor fantasy. I also thought when I married him it would be so cool to have the piece of mind of having a doctor in the house 24-7. Turns out when he comes home the LAST thing he wants is to hear about ANY medical related issue. It's like he takes off his doctor's hat the moment he leaves the hosptial. and if I DARE ask a medical question or complain about some symptom, "Call your OB!" I can understand it, really. I feel the same way when someone asks me a question about a "problem" they might be having (I'm a therapist).

Hi Girls! Christa no..I still don't know the s_x when I was referring to she I think I was talking about the ultrasound techs reference to she when she told me that. But anyway, she asked me if I knew the s_x and we said "no" and she referred to the baby once as a she as in "she is sucking her toes" then she said twice he is being really photogenic for the camera. I think she was trying to throw us off. However, it is no secret that I truly would prefer a girl. My dh would love a boy..and of course I'll be happy either way...and deep down so will he. Anyway, I am off to get my streb B swabs...yuk! But it has to be done. Will update later have a great day girls!!!

hello everyone. well I had my strep b swab done today and during that he checked to see if I'd dilated or if i was effaced and of course NOTHING so it looks like it'll be awhile. oh well. i told the women here at work they'll just have to deal with my whining for about another 29 days. haha. he said the contractions at night are just a regular/normal thing, he said peak time to have them is between 6pm and 11pm so I guess what i'm experiencing is normal. so it's just a day to day thing now. i do start going every week to the dr. now though so that usually makes time go faster. hope everyone has a good day.

I was supposed to see my OB and be checked for Strep b today also but my Dr's office called me very early this morning to reschedule my appointment to tomorrow instead. Soon2bemomof3: I was feeling contractions last night. Changing positions did nothing to help. I practiced my breathing exercises to get through them which helps a little.

Well today I had my bi-weekly appt. and things are great! B/p was great, no trace of protein this time at all, hardly any swelling really and no sugar in urine either. However, I did gain 5 lbs. in the last 2 weeks, but I told her about the two showers I had and that I have been craving sweets the last couple of weeks, so it is due to food choices. The baby measured at 34 cm this time, so that made me feel good, because remember last time it was off a bit and since I'm 33w/4d, that is great! Her little h/b was at 141. I think that's the lowest it's been yet. My Ob wants me back in two weeks for my exam and an ultrasound in their office just to check my fluid and baby's position at that time. Since she was breech at my last ultrasound, I guess she wants to check her again. She also is sending me for ANOTHER 3-hour GTT next week. I have to call the blood lab to make an appointment. I told her that I've pa__sed one already is it really necessary? I mean could six weeks do any harm if I did have it, but her answer was yes. So better to be safe than sorry and go get the d__n freakin test again!! SHEESH! At my next appt. I will be 35w and then I see her every week!! We are so close ladies. I am getting really excited and nervous at the same time. We are almost around that corner!! I am so thankful that I have made it this far with NO complications whatsoever!!! YAYYY!!!!

Kristin~So happy that your ultrasound went well and that your little baby is doing great!! I still think it's a girl too. When you had your very first u/s, I remember you had said the tech mentioned that she believed it was a girl, so I bet it's a girl!! I feel better today about the weight issue. You are right about everything you mentioned that our bodies are doing right now, so I won't fret anymore over that. Besides, I don't have anymore parties or anything planned, so therefore I should be eating a little better. At my next appt., who knows, maybe I will have only gained a pound or two right. Anyway, no milkshakes though!! LOL. Christa~Talk about false hopes huh?! Geesh, that sucks. I know how you feel. Your glad you can carry longer and that everything is good, but your sick of being pregnant that it would have been nice to deliver soon. What the hell was that NPchecking that she saw you were 90%effaced and a finger tip dialated? Was she high? LOL. Perl & Happygal~My spinal when I had my son was wonderful. It didn't hurt a bit and it's NOT as big as a deal as everyone makes it out to be. Although, of course knowing that and having gone through it before, I admit I am still a little scared though, but I just know that everything will go fine. Too bad I couldn't ask for the same anethesiologist! LOL. But that was almost 8 years ago, so I doubt it!! LOL. Soontobe~when are you due and how far along are you? What week do we get our Strep B swab done? Maybe I will get it at my next appt? (35 weeks).

Nobody has even mentioned the Strep B test to me from my doctor's office. Do you have to take this test when you have a planned C-Section? I feel like I'm being kept in the dark when it comes to that place. They have scheduled my section appointment, but they haven't even told me when it is. I'm about to let loose a tantrum on them.

Angel~Everyone has a Step B done near the end. I think it's around 35 or 36 weeks? Also, they didn't tell you when your section is scheduled for???

Angelswim: Yes you still need to be tested for Strep B even if you're having a c-section. I asked my nurse the same thing cuz I'm having a c-section and she said that you still need to because if your water breaks before the c-section the infection can go up to your baby from the water breaking so DEFINATELY mention it to your dr. How far along are you? They usually do the strep b around week 35.

I am back from todays NST. All is well. The house arrest, I mean house rest is doing the trick. Everything has subsided...no contractions or anything. I need a nap...I have turned into the blob. Oh and also, I have started to get uncomfortable. Yesterday started my misery and it has continued on today. Up every hour to pee, no room for my stomach so food is still in my esophagus (or feels like it) and all I do is toss and turn...grrrrrrrrrr

Hi all: just back from doctor myself....NST showed mild contractions, which I can feel..and hearbeat fluctuating all over the place...from 120-170!! Doc said it's all normal. Baby still weighs in the high 5 low 6 pounds. I also asked about the Strep B and I'm supposed to take it next week (I'll be in my 35th week) and yes, even though I"ve a scheduled C, they need to know incase have to be extra careful. I too have had weird cramps while in bed, kind of stabing pains in my side that make it hard to turn...but once I turn they go away. Probably baby position. WOW, we are all really in the home stretch, now! Oh, and about the acid reflux, ME TOO! I get a mouth full of acid that wakes me up at time....it's SOOOOOOO yuckie

Christa & Happygal~Glad to hear all went well with your NST's!! I know about the sleeping issue Christa. If I'm not up peeing every hour, I'm turning over on my other side because my shoulder or hip feels like I have a charlie horse in it. Who the hell can sleep at this stage?? As far as eating goes, I WISH I couldn't put as much down, but right now I am not having a problem with my stomach just yet. Who knows, maybe one more week. I know usually around this time or so the stomach is pushed way up and usually you get fuller faster, not just yet for me though. LOL.

Also the weird feeling I have in the arms, I looked it up online and it is restless arms. It is usually in the legs but can also be felt in the arms. I had a feeling that's what it was. It's just this weird creepy feeling that makes me shakes my arms. It goes away for a minute, but comes back. That has been making sleeping very hard too. Sometimes it gets so bad I have to go downstairs and watch t.v. whatever time it is to get extra sleepy so that I can try going to bed again. SHEEEEESSSSSHHHHHHHH....
