P.S. I recently have noticed swelling. I was doing great until I hit 33 weeks and now I notice my fingers only have been extra puffy kind of. My ankles and face seem fine, it's just my fingers. I'm in my 35th week this week. I can't believe it!! When I was 8 weeks, I knew I was in for a long journey and was so depressed that 9 months seemed SO LONG to get to and now look. Here I am and almost over. Here's to all of us having the strength and courage to get through the next 4 or 5 weeks coming, because boy is it going to get tough!!!

Melly Mel, I woke up yesterday with very puffy hands and very numb hands, also my ankles, today nothing. I am in 38 week this thursday. Frustrating I know. I have two more weeks and I am more than anxious, near the end a lot of strange things start to happen

What a whirlwind of a day! At my weekly appointment today my OB did an u/s just on a lark to check out my amniotic fluid and found out my baby is in breech position. My OB wouldn't normally do an u/s in week 36 so thank God she did otherwise we would not have found out until after I went into labor. She highly recommended that we schedule a c-section. Of course, I asked what my other options were. She said her success rate for doing the version (ECV) to turn the baby is very high but I'm not a good candidate for various reasons mainly because my placenta is in front and it could detach while she attempts to do the version which she said would be highly dangerous for the baby. Also baby's head is measuring 11 cm front to back and 9.5 cm ear to ear and he still has a few weeks to grow. He's already a tight fit for 10 cm dilation and my narrower than average pelvis and still growing! Even if she could get him to turn, there's a high likelihood she would end up doing the c-section anyway. I trust her judgment so I gave the ok for c-section in 3 weeks. Not looking forward to surgery but at least now I know what lies ahead and what I need to prepare for and I have a date (Nov 16th).

Aalex: welcome home! Glad you feel like a new mom and that baby is doing well! PERL:!!!! Welcome to the C-section club. I for one and totally fine with it all, a bit scared, but from all my friends who have told me they would choose to do it again exactly the same, I'm at peace with it all. We are two days apart, wouldn't it be cool if your son was born on your b-day Nov. 14th (or would it be too weird?). I'm not sure my little guy is going cooperate w/that schedule, anyway....feel like he dropped and engaged this evening...we shall see.

Perl...a section isn't a bad thing! I had to have one with my son and there are advantages. (No roids for starters! LOL). Atleast now you have a date as to when this will al end for you... :). With all my indigestion, I wish I did too...but I need to atleast wait until my carpet gets here...lol. Take care...AALEXAND...nice to see you back...please update frequently!

christa0120 - October 25

BTW...I had another appt today...70% effaced...maybe 1 cm dilated...ho hum...I need to get back to work and get things started up again. Too bad I have so much to do though...LOL. I am having trouble sleeping tonight...It ios hot and I am not too tired. I am ready to start the nursey...well...finish but the carpet won't be here for another week. UGH

MellyMel - October 25

Anna~You are so lucky to be so close!! I'm sure my swelling will get worse in the upcoming weeks, but hey, that's all part of it right! Aalex~So happy for you. She is at a good weight now and I'm so happy she is home with you!! Perl~Join the breech club. LOL. I'm having a section anyway though so it didn't matter much to me. Did she say if there's a possiblity that your baby may still turn? I mean you still have 2 or 3 weeks to go right? I've heard of babies turning right around 39 or 40 weeks even at the last minute!! But at least if the baby doesn't you have your section date, so that's great. It sucks to have major surgery if you really don't need it, so I hope for your sake your baby does turn for you before your section date. Does she plan on giving you a section regardless if the baby turns due to your pelvis? Doctor's won't generally perform sections due to that reason unless you have already tried to have her and there's a problem. Usually they wait and see. Christa~I bet you will be having that baby soon by the sounds of it. I have this feeling you will not make it to 39 or 40 weeks by your progess this far. How is your b/p and swelling been?

Kristin72 - October 25

Lots of exciting news all around. Perl~I am glad you found out that your baby is breech now rather than later. Despite the worries of a planned c section which (I too would be a little nervous about.).it must give your some relief to know when your baby will come...ahead of time too..I am jealous!!! Almost a week ahead of your due date so that's exciting. Christa~70% effaced and 1 cm dialated..well you are definitely on the road to your labour day.. despite that the first readings were off you must be happy that things seem to be progressing...but you are suppose to have a c section too isn't that right? Happygal~ how does it feel to drop? I too feel so heavy right now..almost hard to walk and I feel like I need to cradle my tummy for the weight. I do have my OB's appointment this afternoon so I will see how things seem for me too! Alexaand~ Congratulations on little Kennedy coming home from the hospital. I'm sure you must be just elated with joy!! I too am getting very anxious for my little one to come. Mel~I too notice bouts of swelling..my fingers are the latest additons on the swelling wagon. The ankles or fankles have been an up and down occurence. Ladies~ I had my strep B last week and I will find out the results of that test today. Plus I had my ultrasound last week which my doc did not have the results for so that is why I have not updated as much this past week. Hopefully today he can shed some light on my progression. Tonight I also have a b___stfeeding cla__s..am bringing the dh. We also attended a newborn care cla__s on Monday which was informative. Thursday we have our tour of the hospital. I never did sign up for a labour a delivery cla__s but I kindof wish I did. Anyway, will update later. Take Care, Kristin :)

Hi Everyone! I'd have to say my worst complaint for this week is the swelling. For those of you who are swollen does it come and go??? My legs and ankles are ALWAYS swollen without exception. I had another baby shower this week. It was a surprise baby shower with a 3rd group of women I gather with each week but this group was a little more organized and someone made sure that I would be there, unlike the last surprise shower that I didn't make it to : ) This one was about 12 women very small and intimate and they all shared their labor stories and in a circle gave me advice and said prayers for me. It was very touching. Each one brought diapers or baby wipes plus whatever else (the usual baby gifts--clothes and blankets, etc etc).****AALEX: very nice to hear from you and to know that you and baby are progressing and doing well. ****ANNA: I'm getting anxious with you too!! Plese tell what other strange happenings are going on?***CHRISTA: you seem to be progressing right along with effacement and dilation or more so than most of the rest of us! The end is near! ***KRISTIN: have fun with the cla__s and tour. I did birthing cla__s but wish I could done a b___stfeeding cla__s too. ***MEL: Yes, the baby could turn although Dr. said it's not very likely. I would hope that she would check his position one more time before the c-section to see if he does turn in which case I'd cancel the c-section. I was about to ask her about all this but we had to end my appointment because she was called to the hospital to deliver a baby and she had already spent more time with me than she should have so I'll have more discussion with her next week. My OB never said that we'd have to do c-section because of narrow pelvis only that it was more likely than not to happen, meaning I was going to try to see if he would position himself so I could push him out. Now the narrow pelvis is one and only one factor in the list of reasons why she recommended the c-section.

Kristin: to answer your question about dropping, well, I felt a new 'pressure' on my pelvic bone and vulva area. Sometimes they call it 'lightening' because you are meant to be able to breath better since baby is engaged lower in the abdomen. But I went to doc yesterday and he said the baby had NOT engaged yet, that he was in postion, but not engaged, URG. I guess it's just the sheer weight of him (6 pounds, 13 ounces). Perl: good to hear from you and that you seem to be finding some resolve w/possible C-section. One of the symptoms I have managed to avoid is swelling. I have no idea why that is. I don't drink enough water, that's for sure...maybe it has something to do with the GD? Anyway, sorry about your discomfort. I'm feeling pretty good, overall...all the back pain is now gone. It's just the sheer weight that's diffciult now, and the killer, nasty a__s acid reflux!!

CHRISTA, luck you i think you will be the first too deliver good luck. PERL. i think a c section is just fine, I wish i was having one, its quick and simple, My girlfriend had one in August, baby's head too big too go through birth ca___l so they had to do an emergency c section, yours is planned which is good and it will be quick and short. Also my swelling has gone down so I hope yours does too. KRISTEN what hospital are you having your baby at? I am at Credit Valley In Mississauga. Melly Mel good luck to you, the best part is each day thinking is today the day???? lolllGOOD LUCK to everyone and lets see who is the first to pop>LOLLL

annabanana - October 26

PERL, one more thing, my husbands cousin was breech at 35 weeks and baby did turn. My Mom told me my brother was breech and she actually delivered back then with baby's feet coming out first, thank God it turned out well. BAck to my husbands cousin baby went from breech to the right correct position, but she ended up having c section regardless because her blood pressure went high after epidural, I hope all goes well. My inducement if I dont go into labour by November 9 will be NOvember 16 so i will be thinking of you!!!!! and lots of prayers for everyone

christa0120 - October 26

Oh ladies...I don't think I will go 1st. With my son. I was 2cm dilated and 80% effaced for 2 weeks, then I got induced.. My guesstimate is Nov 17. Don't know why but this date is sticking in my head. Wish me luck

christa0120 - October 27

oh, how is this for nesting?......Today I climbed an 8ft ladder to clean my OUTDOOR front porch light. I have also replaced all lightbulbs that were burned out... I think there was like 8 between the outside, bathrooms and ceiling fans...And I had DH vac_me and replace the airfilters...Oh yeah, I have my oven on self clean right now. I hardly ever use that oven. :)

MellyMel - October 27

Kristin~Any word on the Strep B or ultrasound results yet? Perl~I'm hoping the baby turns for you sake so you don't need a section and can at least try to go v____al, although with the pelvis like your doctor said may not work either, but at least you will get to try. That was so nice that you got another littlel baby shower. What nice friends you have! Also, my swollen fingers don't come and go; it seems lately they are always a bit puffy now. It must be that stage in the pregnancy I guess. I'm just waiting for the ankles to start. Maybe my swelling is not so bad because I drink alot of water and walk 3-4x's a week? Who knows. Happygal~I'm happy to report that I have never had acid reflux and it sounds just awful!! It will be over soon, hang in there!!Anna~I'm still betting that you are going first, but with Christa's progress I"m not so sure now. LOL. Christa~Nesting? Where do you find the energy?? I still haven't even gotten to my bathrooms yet for crying out loud!! I'm hoping to today! What is everyone's due/section dates again? Why don't we just post these before we start our post, so that we can all remind each other as to when we are due or having our sections coming up.
