HappyGal~Have you called your doctor about the itching? Itching can be a sign of a few things and then again nothing. You really should call and be seen or have them run some blood labs on you to make sure you are o.k. And no, you are not the only one anxious about pregnancy problems, believe me. On another note, I am pasting a link that is a webpage that has a few of my baby shower pics on it. I don't have many, but thought I'd share. When my other sister emails me the others, I will post them too. They didn't get the gift table, but managed to get the cake and food! LOL. I am only leaving it up until early tonight, because I HATE to post pictures online as it can be dangerous. Bye for now...............http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i187/melodyarnold/

One more thing, make sure you take the hyphen out after the b in photob- and make photobucket one word and then it should work!

hey guys....sorry for the absense. I am getting over about 3 weeks of sinusitis. I was really trying to avoid antibiotics, and every time I thought I had overcome it, it seemed to shift to a different part of my face. I was sniffing salt water and steam like crazy. Both helped a lot. Anyways, I think its pretty much gone, but the last 3 days, I have had parties to go to, and have finally, for the first time in those weeks, pigged out on cakes and junk, so I hope I dont get sick again! Sorry for run on sentence.
I read what is going on, and would like to say that despite my absenses, I absolutely must hear about all of our birth experiences and little babes :). Please give me an update on what happened with aalex, since I must have missed it in the last thread ? I hope all is ok.
One of you, I think Mel.. wrote something about crazy odd baby movements, and I have been feeling that for a long time. Like not body parts, but spastic jutting and bubbles or something. Does this make sense to anyone? I have to make an appt for 32nd week u/s, and perhaps the final one. I know we are getting so close with around 9-10 weeks to go, but I am still SO unready, with tons to do. Now that I am getting so huge, I can accomplish very little. Wish I could afford full time house help :)... ok, be well and thanks for putting up with me coming and going !

HI Mommies! Well just got back from Florida. The time spent with my SIL's twins was fantastic..and a great crash course for me. I must say I am exhausted from the trip...and... Needless to say, the trip played havoc with my health. After leaving out of a Buffalo airport (I live in Toronto) and going to a wedding the night before and had to leave at 2:30 in the morning I managed to miss sleep for 24 hours..not good for a preggo. When I arrived my head was pounding, I was dehydrated and my legs swelled up like tree trunks..especially my ankles and feet. I kept telling myself what a big mistake I had made, but tried to smile and go with the flow. Up until the flight I had no swelling whatsoever. On top of that my second last day I tumbled down the stairs leaving my brothers house with bags in either hand and twisted and sprained my ankle I landed on my hands so the belly was fine..but the sprain left me with 10 times more swelling to boot. I wrapped it immediately and iced it, as well as layed down with my foot elevated. I started to think I was an idiot for doing this trip thing after all. The good thing was I was able to pick up alot of baby essentials from Target. I just wish we had that store in Canada. The deals there are just amazing...like 5 onesies for $5.99. That is just unreal..I really stocked up. Upon my return I have been set up today with a neurologist..with regard to my 6 week plus headaches. My app is for 11:30 today so I am off to hobble there this morning. I feel like "Lucky" the 3 legged dog..being a preggo with a sprained ankle and a migraine. Anyway, lots to do and lots I am sure I have missed as the moods have turned to utter excitement around here. Can't wait to update myself with you threads. Hope you are all well..and getting as plump as I am..Kristin :)

Mel: Yeah, went to derm and was given blood tests for bile, liver functions, etc. I understand about not wanting to post pics or too much personal stuff online, I never do...too many freaks out there. IF you guys want, I can set up a Yahoo group where those of us who want to can post some of our more personal files, photos....personal info. etc.
Angel: I didn't realize you had lost a baby at 7 months, I'm so sorry. Did they know what caused it. I can imagine you must be so on pins and needles....just like me, after two miscarriages and being told by the medical community that it was very unlikely with my own eggs....yada, yada. Kristin: Sorry to hear about your sprain, OUCH...I can't imagine having an injury at this stage of the game, feels like just walking around is an injury! Please rest and relax all that you can. PERL..hope to hear from you soon. I'm still itchy (espcially at night). HOpe the tests all come back normal so I can relax again.

Happpy--I just reread my post and it sounds all wrong. Sorry about the confusion. Actually what I meant was that I had my daughter 2 months early, but I didn't lose her (thank God). She was in the hospital for about 2 months before I could bring her home though. Now she's a happy, healthy, and very active 10 year old. =) When I said this will be my "first", I meant during the 32-40 weeks. I hope that fixed the misunderstanding. *** anyways, I've always thought October was the longest month to get through, so I have a feeling..well..it's going to be a long month.

CHRISTA: What a pain it must have been to cart your bucket of urine to and from the garage in the middle of the night but I"m sure you're glad that you're being monitored so if there's a problem it can be caught early. ***HAPPYGAL: Sorry about the itching and I wish you luck on the exams too! I remember you had a skin rash problem earlier on in pregnancy. Isn't it strange how there are so many different things/symptoms can happen during a pregnancy to different women? ***ANGELSWIM: Sounds like you and some of the others get a routine 32 week u/s. I don't expect one at my next appointment (33 weeks) but I'll find out next week. I also read your post the same way as Happygal and am glad you clarified because losing a baby at 7 months into pregnancy sounds awfully tragic and frightening.***MEL: I saw your pictures--you & friends look like a fun-loving group of people. I a__sume the little guy holding some of your baby gifts is you son---what a good--looking little boy!***ANNISHEL: glad to hear you're doing alright (other than the sinusitis). It's good to hear from you. ***KRISTIN: sorry to hear about your tumble, sounds like yours was much worse than my little slip and fall a couple of weeks ago. I hope you're feeling all better from that now. Any news from the neurologist?

The swelling in my feet and ankles seems to be getting worse and its lasting longer throughout the day too. Nothing really helps so what can I do. . .oh well. Low back pain and mild cramps woke me up too early this morning at 4:30 am. I'm so happy to be pregnant so I hate to complain but I hope these next 7 weeks don't seem to drag too long. *** My baby shower was yesterday. I had so much fun. There were about 36 women there. The theme (invitations, decorations and just about everything) was Noah's ark (same as the nursery), there were little plastic and plush animals hanging from the lights and on the tables and everywhere. There was lots of food, a cute cake with a big chocolate Noah's ark, rainbow and plastic decorative animals on top. I was dreading the games but everyone had fun with them (including me). The one with the necklaces that people can take away from each other if they said the word "baby" was fun. My sis in law won but I got to keep all of the necklaces in the end which were actually baby-proof electrical outlet safety covers attached to the end of a string. Also, the game where you guess the flavor of baby food just by looking at its color through the jar with no label---I got to keep the jars of baby food afterwards too. Everything was perfect except I felt badly that it took nearly an hour just to open all the gifts which I think is too long but that's what it took. I was pretty quick with ripping the giftwrap and stuff but I wanted to appreciate and show every cute gift. I think a smaller group would have been better. I loved every adorable gift but some of my favorites were a baby briefcase (to store baby records), a light that projects different colored shapes onto the nursery ceiling, and the funny baby t-shirts and outfits with the cute sayings like "crying: it gets the job done" and "no batteries required". One of my friends brought a car trunk load of hand-me-down clothes and toys too which was awesome! Well, I'm going to go try to sleep or at least elevate my fat feet.

Wow Perl your shower sounded awesome. I can only pray my shower goes half as smoothly. I love your theme too! I spent the day today making little bomboniers of miniature baby bottles with pastel lids filling them with candy pacifiers and then put a little thankyou notes tied with a ribbon. I also tied little ribbons around the napkins and forks and knives. I'm exhausted. I was just wondering did you get many items from your registry? Or did some people purchase things on their own accord? Also, did your husband come by at the end? I told my guy he should make an appearance at the end of the shower ..he said he would be a little embara__sed but he would do it. Anyway, I am off to bed..Sweet dreams everyone!

Kristin: your shower favors sound so cute! About 10 people at my shower bought gifts from the registries. Plus 5 Target and Babies R Us giftcards. More than 1/2 of the gifts were non-registry things, from other stores. As for making an appearance, the plan was for my dh to drop me off but he ended up going to play 9 holes of golf with the hostess' husband who had already set up the tee time for them. When the men were done golfing and came back to the house a couple of hours later, I was about halfway through opening the gifts and dh surprised me by walking right to where I was for a hug/kiss, he stuck around only about 5 minutes, long enough to say hello to the group and watch me open one gift, then he filled our car with the gifts I had already opened and scooted off. He asked my friend to call him at home when the party was over so he could come get me and the rest of the gifts (he brought his truck the 2nd time : ) I'm sure your shower will be great! At least, it sounds like you and your MIL have all the bases covered.

I had my baby shower yesterday afternoon as well. It was a small group of about 18. The gifts I opened were all clothes, except a teething ring, baby's first slippers, and a head catcher for the car seat. The party was a lot of fun though. There was lots of food, including my famous chicken salad sandwiches and macaroni salad. haha. My Aunt made the cake which was absolutely beautiful mint green and white and decorated like a baby blanket with sea stars and b___terflies. It was so yummy I had two pieces. =) There were quite a few kids there, so they were put to work by decorating the house with pink streamers. I thought I had walked into a cartoonish Haunted House with big pink spider webs. It was great. I'm kind of glad it's over though. It was a busy and chaotic day. And of course, now I know what is left to get for the baby.

Sounds like eveyone is having fun showers! Early, no? Mine aren't unil later. I'm having 3.....one from work, one from family and one from friends. Oct, 6, 12, and 14! I'll be 33 on Sat! I just can't believe I've made it this far....Im teetering really wanting this to be over and meeting my little guy, and feeling like I haven't had enough bonding time in-utero baby. SOunds like people are starting to swell.....strange, not me, but my lower back is KILLING me and I've numbness shooting down my right leg when I sit in some positions. I can't sleep at all at night unless I take Pepsid AC. I'm a bit worried about having to take it nightly, but the alternative is not getting ANY sleep and being miserable. Hope everyone gets through their week.

Hi happygal, that numbness shooting down your leg sounds like Sciatica. I had that earlier on..I hope you can find some relief. My shower is on the 15th..I also have another one after the baby is born in January :)

PERL~Your shower sounds like it was beautiful and you had a great time. I'm so glad you got so many things for the baby. It's cute that you guys played games and stuff. I did all that cutsie stuff with my first shower when I had Jacob. I'm sorry to hear about your swollen ankles. I have no swelling yet (thank GOD) and I'm sure that is due to the fact that I've been out of work now for 3 weeks. Maybe if I was still working I would have swelling by now, who knows. KRISTIN~Most men will make an appearance at the end to pack up the car/truck for you and they can say hello and thank everyone at that point for coming too. Your favors sound so cute Kristin, but that is actually what your MIL should be doing. It's your shower. Whoever is hosting it should do all the work. Unless you wanted to help. I bet you can't wait! You will find there are a lot of people that buy their own things and don't go off the registry. It's like then why make one?LOL Also, how is your ankle healing? ANGELSWIM~I'm glad to hear your shower went great too!! Your cake sounded beautiful, but not beautiful enough to NOT eat it right? LOL. I also indulged in mine, believe me!! Is anyone here having a Jack & Jill or all baby showers? HAPPYGAL~your showers are planned right on time. We all had them a bit early. Generally you have them a month before you are due, so yours are not late. Also, that pain is your Sciatica. I had that when I was pregnant with Jacob, but all the time, not just when I was sitting. The pain was so bad I use to cry and there was nothing I could do for it AND I had it for months!! I also had carpel tunnel really bad and wore a brace for months. I'm so thankful not to have those problem this time around and I just know it's because I lost all that weight and got healthier this time around before I got pregnant. This pregnancy has been a dream compared to my last!! We may be going with the name Aubrey, we'll see. LOL. It changes weekly it seems. I think I will wait until she is born and give her one.

You know Mel..I wish I did not have to lift a finger for this shower my MIL has planned ..cause that is how I feel these days unfortunately (TIRED). But the MIL is a little old school and knows nothing about putting on a shower. I feel I should help to pitch in, and I don't want to sound like a snot but otherwise we'd be eating lamb chops and beans with our fingers with different coloured Christmas napkins and mis matched plates that she has had lying around from the greek picnic.. it's sad but true. She is an amazing cook and nice person but even other parties she has had turn out that way.. I was brought up differently...My mother has told me to except whatever she has put together..but she keeps asking me what to do. To be honest I think this whole think is way over scaled. I prefer a small gathering of say 15 people tops (but I was never asked if I wanted the whole greek community coming. Even that takes alot of planning. For this shower~80people have been invited and about 65 will come. (about 12 are my friends and family) The people coming from her side will expect it to be nice and they will expect the party to be nice..and it should be..they are taking the time for my baby and they are spending good money on gifts..so that is why I have stepped in. I even mentioned to my guy about all the work i have done so far...he told me in the beginning I would not have to do a thing...not..I told him if I do not do it, it won't be done...OPA! Talk to you girls later!!
