Hopeful and excited - April 10

Hi Christa! I'm due Nov. 6th. It's my first child and I'm 35. All my ultrasounds have gone well so far. I'm at the start of my 11th week - that is, the 'bean' is starting its 9th week (how I hate all these confusions over dates - why can't it be simpler!! Do you know an easy way? Do I say that I'm 11 or 9 weeks pregnant?) Anyway, I'm just desperate to get the first trimester over and done with and its great to have this forum to share with other mums-to-be. Can't help counting the days til I can 'relax' a bit and start enjoying the pregnancy. Mind you, as my lovely man says, I've always been a worrier so I reckon the whole 9 months might be a bit like this. But no..... I do think that once I've announced it to 'all and sundry' some of the pressure will be off and I can start having fun with it all! Let's hope. BTW - is this thread a new start for Perl's "November 2006 babies let's share" forum?

i think when you are in your 11th week you are 10 weeks and how ever many days. Or if you are in your 10th week you are 9 weeks and however many days. I am in my 8th week and i am 7 weeks 5 days. by wednesday i will be in my 9th week! my due date is november 21st. i conceived feb 28th my LMP was feb 14th! i am off to catch a plane to come home to toronto canada. i still have to tell my mother..still kindof looking for the right words. hope everyone is doing well. Xo Kristin

kristin....have a safe trip home. hopeful...I count from the 1st day of the you last cycle. That's how all the book snad Drs count. Less confusion. So for all intents you are 11 wks. Good luck telling the folks

Thanks Kristin - hope you have a good time at home and can find the right words. I wouldn't worry too much about how to say it as I'm sure the reaction will be the same no matter what way you choose to put the sentence! I know you've expressed some concerns on another thread that you think she will disapprove, but the thing is, if she does, will that make you feel any differently about the pregnancy. I think not judging by how excited you sound. I ditto the comments from Perl made on the other thread - that you tell her how happy you are, ask for her support and explain that although you'll be sad if she can't be there for you during the pregnancy, that you hope she will when her grandchild arrives. Anyway, it's her loss if she chooses to opt out of this really exciting moment of her own daughter's life. (I'm sure her pregnancy wasn't perfect - whose is?) Christa..... thanks for the help on the dates. That's how I was counting too - it's just that my doctor was saying to me that I should say the fetus is 9 weeks rather than saying I'm 11weeks pregnant. I'm pretty convinced that doesn't make a difference as it all ends up at the same date - LMP: 30 Jan Conception: 12-14 Feb (ish?!!) How are you doing anyway?

well, i had my 2nd u/s. Baby is measuring about 7 w (good) hr is 147 (good) looks as if this one is a keeper! I also went for a counceling appointment to help me dealw ith some of my "concerns' I think it went well and she will be able to help me get through some of my fears. I am mellowing a bit too as things progress. I also have my 1st prenatal visit on Wednesday with a perinatologist. I decided against a regular OB. I hink I am much more comfy now.

Perl - April 10

Hi Christa! I didn't realize you had already started a continuation of the November mom's discussion when I posted to the original one today (oops). I was only looking for that familiar heading so that's probably how I missed it. I'll let the other November mommies on the November Part 1 forum know in case they make the same mistake that I did. Thanks for starting Part 2, the other one was getting too long.

Perl - April 10

Congrats, Christa on the ultrasound and things looking better. Just wanted to say that your baby is better off with a perinatologist than an ob, I think, because it sounds like they are very specialized and would have to know more than a regular ob. Kristin: I wanted to hold off on telling my mother but my dad is going crazy keeping this secret to himself so for his sake I'm telling my mom in advance of the 12 week mark. I'm just going to tell her by phone (she lives in another state) and then I'm going to switch subjects right away and tell her I have to get off the phone. This way she'll be informed and I won't have to listen to her negativity. My stats: California, 7w 6d; Due Nov 22, this is 2nd pregnancy but will be my first child (first pregnancy ended in miscarriage).

Perl - April 10

Is anyone wearing maternity clothes yet? My jeans are starting to get really really tight and uncomfortable, isn't it too soon for this to be happening to me?

Hopeful and excited - April 10

Christa - so glad your recent ultrasound went well. Even though my doctor has 'seen' it so I'm pretty sure there's nothing to worry about, I wish I knew the heartrate of my 'bean' so that I could compare with other people's. Hopefully next time. I too am worrying myself silly but since coming to this forum am also feeling a lot more 'comfy'! Let's hope it gets even easier over the next few weeks (or days, minutes, SECONDS if possible!) Perl, sorry to hear that you're anticipating your Mum's reaction to be negative. Maybe your Dad will be able to turn her round? I too am 'announcing' to the family prior to the 12 week mark (EDD 6th November so second trimester doesn't start till 2nd week of May - when I'll tell everyone else) and I have to do the WHOLE FAMILY over the phone as I live abroad and they all live in different countries too!! It's a real shame but I'd rather that than go through any more of the secrecy - I can't cope with keeping good news from people, it gets me on edge and there's not a hope of getting them all together - not even if me and my fella decided to get married again!! (lol!) So we've chosen Easter Day to tell, coz we reckon that there's more of a chance that they'll be at home - I couldn't cope with an answerphone or no reply at all!! Regarding your jeans - I'm also feeling bloated which means that my clothes don't fit as well as they did. I've read that weight gain can start as early as the 11th week and the rest may be water retention, but it's unlikely to be that either of us is showing (more's the pity!). BTW - you're due on my birthday!! Good luck to all!

christa0120 - April 10

Perl...I am not in maternity clothing but I did go buy a pair of "transitional pants". They are normal pants but a size (or 2) larger. They are a tad loose but haver a tie so I can cinch them up. Much more comfy. To fit in my other cloths I had to be sure to watch my weight to contunie to fit it them, with this pregnancy all the bloating from water and gas have thrown me over the edge of wearing them. I was in desperate need of new clothes anyway. I work in a hopsital so I wear scrubs all the time and never have to shop for clothes...which makes me a really lousy dresser =( I prefer wearing sweats all the time.

Kristin - April 10

BTW congrats on the postive ultrasound Christa!! Ok I am a little confused about my dates technically I am 7 weeks 6 days or 55 days into my pregnancy..so I should be in my 8th week and after tomorrow I will be in my 9th week? Is that so? I really don't think I am in my 11th week..but maybe I am wrong...hmmm. If I am truly further along then I will have schedule my 11 week prenatal screening tests...as that is what I plan on doing. Anyway, I just got in from my flight..and I must tell you girls flying really amplifies nausea..I felt like I would be sick the whole flight arghh! Glad to be home...no spotting thank God! Talk to you all soon ! Kristin

Hopeful and excited - April 11

Kristin- I think you're in your 9th week. Perhaps the earlier post confused you coz Christa was talking to me!! (I'm in my 11th week of pregnancy!)Maybe I ought to change my 'name' to avoid that happening again but I'd be scared to lose contact if you all thought I was a 'newbie'. Anyway, hope that all clarifies you were right with your dates first time round. Glad to hear the trip wasn't too much of a disaster! Good luck with telling your mum.

Daffy - April 11

Hi ladies - glad to hear you are all doing well. Congrats to Christa on your u/s! Kristin - hope you have a good visit - and don't let your mom's reaction spoil it for you. Same goes for you, Perl! And Hopeful, I hope it goes well with your family also. ~ My pants are also getting a bit snug, so I've bought, not maternity pants yet, but a few "elastic waist" pants to stay comfy for a bit longer. (I'm about 9w 6d now, so it's mostly gas and bloating.) How is everyone dealing with the emotional rollercoaster? Christa - good on you for going to the counselor - I'm sure it will help. My counselor has been a great comfort - my hormones have been out of control lately. (my poor DH!!) Does anyone else have the occasional day where they just don't feel pregnant at all? It's happened to me a couple times, which worries me at the time, but the next day the symptoms seem to hit even harder! I hope those who haven't moved to this thread yet are all doing well! Take care!!

Hopeful and excited - April 11

Hi Daffy. Congrats on your pregnancy. It looks like you and I are expecting on almost the same day (me - 6th November) so I'd love to keep in touch especially in these first nail-biting weeks. I read on an earlier post that you and your hubby are the "want more information" type. I think I feel the same and would love to hear how all your tests go. In fact, I'd like to know what tests you've been offered and what you're taking. The reason I'm asking for so much detail is that I'm doing all this in a foreign country and although I speak the language well the technical stuff often escapes me so its easier to be informed before I go to each appointment. Thanks in advance. Hope you're doing well and the morning sickness is beginning to subside (I think mine is although I'm still ravenous!) Talk soon. Good luck to all!

MellyMel - April 11

Hello ladies!! I am just checking in with an update. I got my blood results today. My HCG is doing great and they did a random glucose because I had G.D. with my first pregnancy before, but that was normal too, at least for now. I have a 50/50 shot they say. I go for my ultrasound Thursday and will let you all know how it goes. I pray I see that heartbeat. I will be 7w/2d Thursday. I am still feeling nausea more now than I did a few weeks ago, still sore b___bs, gas not so bad or constipation, thank GOD! KRISTIN~I"m glad you had a safe trip with no spotting!! Also, good luck with telling your mom. CHRISTA~ I'm so glad you are getting your counseling. I am in the process of finding one too. Also, I'm glad that your ultrasound went so good!! Also good luck with your pernitologist? LOL. PERL~My pants are also getting a bit snug, but not too too much. I think in a few weeks I will definately be out ouf them though. DAFFY~I have good days also where I don't feel pregnant, but then I have extremely BAD days where I am VERY SICK and reminded of how my baby is doing!! LOL. It's all so normal!! HOPEFUL~Good luck telling your family Easter DAy. What a nice present instead of those fattening chocolate bunnies!! MMMMM....LOL. Off for now. Will post more on Thursday. I'm hoping GREAT news!! Well, take care girls..xo

Daffy - April 12

Hopeful - I'm due Nov. 8th, so yeah, we're at about the same place! I'm still waiting to schedule the testing. We need to go to an out of town hospital to do the ultrasound where they check the neck, bridge of the nose, etc...but I think they need to wait until I'm a bit further along. My next regular appt. isn't for a couple weeks, but I'm getting impatient!!! and will probably call tomorrow to check on my initial bloodwork and see if they can bump me ahead. I'll let you know more about the tests when I know more myself. (I'm forgetting most of test names, etc., at the moment!) MellyMel - welcome back! Glad to hear your levels are good! I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one with the wierd on/off symptoms! They may be normal, but it still drives us all nuts! LOL! Hope you get to see the heartbeat on Thursday! ~ Take care all! xo
