Hopeful - I'm due Nov. 8th, so yeah, we're at about the same place! I'm still waiting to schedule the testing. We need to go to an out of town hospital to do the ultrasound where they check the neck, bridge of the nose, etc...but I think they need to wait until I'm a bit further along. My next regular appt. isn't for a couple weeks, but I'm getting impatient!!! and will probably call tomorrow to check on my initial bloodwork and see if they can bump me ahead. I'll let you know more about the tests when I know more myself. (I'm forgetting most of test names, etc., at the moment!) MellyMel - welcome back! Glad to hear your levels are good! I guess I'm glad I'm not the only one with the wierd on/off symptoms! They may be normal, but it still drives us all nuts! LOL! Hope you get to see the heartbeat on Thursday! ~ Take care all! xo

Hey there Daffy. Thanks for your info. I'm the same - have to go to the nearest big city to get the nuchal scan (measuring neck) and amnio. I've heard about the nose one but my doctor hasn't offered that as far as I understand. From what I can remember she said that they won' t start tests like this until 14-16 weeks. I look forward to comparing notes when it gets to that stage. I also haven't got an appointment for ages - April 27th - but then I think myself lucky as some people here don't seem to be seen as often as I do. (I've already had 3 scans!) This will be my first real antenatal appointment, I think, as they've told me to come half an hour early so that they can take blood/urine samples and some other stuff which I guess will be weight (I won't look!!) and height etc. I wish I had an appointment before Easter (my doc's taking a break for 10 days) so that I could tell the parents with real confidence but as I'm feeling fine, I'm a__suming all is well. Generally speaking I have very few symptoms (sorry!) except real hunger (at times) and slightly sore b___bs and tiredness. I know I should think myself lucky but sometimes I wish I felt more pregnant and less like a lazy fat lump who has gas and indigestion and is suddenly started craving sweet things for no reason! (LOL!) Anyway, hope everyone's well. My fella says he's really jealous that I've come on this forum - he wants to aswell. I've told him he'll be more than welcome so who knows - maybe you'll here from him soon!

Well, what an interesting day. I had to be at the Peri's office at 9:30 for paper work. At 10:30 I was FINALLY caleed back and they were going to do an ultra sound!
Ok, so now this makes 3..lol
I measured 7w6d exactly...matching my own dates. Then I was asked to go wait yet again. I was then called back to an "interview room" where I sopke with an RN. She interviewed me and then took me into an exam room whI met one of the Peri's. I liked him! I was pretty sure I wouldn't like anyone because I had really loved my OB from before but he was tragically killed in a car accident 2 years ago. I still carry his obituary in my car. I truely loved that man and trusted him like no other.
Well, with this group it looks like I can get all the testing I can possibly stand and then some. I am scheduled to go back in 2 weeks for something and then again in 2 more weeks for I think my Nuchal scan! Today I feel good. I started taking my unisom at night along with my prenatals. What a huge difference that makes in my morning sickness. Anyone really struggleing with it should try it!
See you all soon.

My DH and I attended a "prenatal information" session at my Dr's office today with 6 other pregnant moms/couples. It was a 1hour 45 minute info session on what to expect & guidelines for vitamins, diet, exercise, travel, pediatricians, b___stfeeding cla__ses, more on all types of genetic screening tests, etc., etc. Way too much info to absorb in one day, more of an overview. Then they sent me to the lab to give up about 9 tubes of my blood and a urine sample. Whew! Next appointment should be the First Trimester Screening test.*** DAFFY: My FTS sounds like the same one you mention--where the Dr. gets your bloodwork plus a detailed ultrasound to check the fetus' neck and bridge of nose. I was told to do this after 10 weeks but before 13 weeks, after that it's too late and it won't be done. Make sure you don't put it off too long since it sounds like we're talking about the same test. I think this is the only one that has to be done in the 1st trimester. Let me know if I'm wrong. ***I had a new & interesting experience today; I went to my favorite department store to shop for some stretchy skirts (because I'm so bloated with gas and water retention that my clothes are no longer comfortable). The lady who was helping me at the store asked me if I was shopping for myself why was I getting the wrong size (a size too big) so I let her know that I"m pregnant and want a little extra room to grow into my clothes. After I paid for the clothes she offered to carry my shopping bags through the mall and out to my car for me. I thought that was extremely thoughtful and said thanks but no, but I was chuckling on the inside. I'm guessing the special treatment was for being pregnant. Will almost everyone be this nice? For all the nausea, heartburn, gas, fatigue and general icky feelings I'm going through, the special treatment for being pregnant is a bonus, kinda nice. : ) ***CHRISTA: so glad you're happy with your peri, especially since you felt at first that you had no other choice, it really helps to actually like the Dr. who's going to deliver your baby. HOPEFUL: following your idea and telling the whole family during Easter when we're all in one house, it'll be much easier than telling people one by one.*** Last but most important to MELLY: will be thinking of you on Thursday, I know the ultrasound will be perfect but we'll still want to hear all about it!!

Christa - so glad your appointment went well. Please keep in touch with all your tests as I know there are many of us still in the dark about what happens when. Perl - great to hear you're announcing on the same day as me. I'll let you know how it went. Are you nervous? I am close to peeing my pants - or is that just the pregnancy!!! (lol!) Good luck and let me know what it was like. I wish I could tell my folks face to face but such is life when you live abroad. I have decided to tell my mum first - she's going to visit my brother that day (who also normally lives abroad but just happens to be staying with his in-laws during Easter) and although my first idea was to wait until she gets to his place, I don't think it would be right to tell her when she's in someone else's home so I'm going to tell her before she jumps in the car. (It also means I don't have to wait all morning - the suspense would kill me!) I think she'll really enjoy sharing the news with my brother too and it's great to think that she'll also be able to give out a little of the joy as Grandma-to-be!

Hi Girls! Not much to report..I have an appointment on Monday with my GP. Have another one the following week with my gyno. Would love to do another ultrasound to make sure everything is ok. Feeling like I am always having to adjust my pants as they are digging in at my waist. My skin has a few pimples which seem to be healing...Broke out a little around my chin area...nothing a little makeup can't hide. Preparing and educating myself for the nuchal scan and blood tests in couple of weeks. This will be very scary for me because with my last pregnacy that ended in Dec 22 '05 at almost 14 weeks the nuchal scan was a little high 4.0. This put me in as screen postive. The NT doesn't measure the neck but more the fluid acc_mulated behind the neck. This combined with the blood work will give the doctors and indication of possible problems. Eventhough I had a high NT last time they found out after doing chromosone testing that there was no DS, Trisomy, or any other chromosonal problem..and the Nt is suppose to indicate a higher likelihood of those chromosonal problems. Inevitably the heart stopped beating on my baby girl. They never were able to tell me why I had the missed miscarriage. On a brighter note..I hope all of you are still doing just great..love hearing about all of you..Christa, Daffy, Hopeful,Mel,Perl..and anyone else who is expecting around the times we are! Ciao for now!
XO

Hey ladies haven't chatted with you all in a while because i've been going through a bad time with the pregnancy but i'm better now. Well you know i've been spotting on and off for a while but was told it wasn't unusal but last thursday i started bleeding so i called my DR office and he instructed me to go to the ER, well they did a pelvic exam check my blood levels and did an ultrasound, i saw my baby and heartbeat was very strong but they saw blood around the babies sac and the ER doctor told me that i was threatning a miscarriage so they released me to go home and instructed me to come back if things got worst, well on Friday morning i went back because i pa__sed a few blood clots so they did the same procedures as the day before but detected on the ultrasound that the blood was behind my sac in my uterus and also that i had 2 smal fibroids which i already knew but the baby is fine the bleeding is coming from the cysts. I was releived after leaving the hospital on friday because i thought i was really losing the baby. I'm still bleeding on and off and has been running a light temp but after reading up on fibroids and pregnancy i see it's normal to do so. Has anyone ever dealt with or know of anyone who has dealt with fibroids while pregnant? I just cannot wait until i get past my 1st trimester i am now 9wks preg. and i wen t for an ultrasound on Tuesday and every thing was well with the baby.

Alex, I am so relieved everything is ok with the baby. I was wondering how you were doing as we hadn't seen you on here in a while. I do not know enough about fibroids to give you any advice. I did have a small cyst on one of my ovaries while I was pregant before, and this came up when I had a day of spotting at the 8 week mark. They determined it was a placenta previa..as the sac had pulled slightly away from the wall of my uterus. Anyway, it turned out to be ok in the short term..because as you may be aware I lost my pregnancy at 13 weeks 6 days as the heart stopped beating. It really makes us feel like we should really be careful.. having a baby is really such a miracle and the conditions have to be perfect. Alex, when is your due date again? I think yous is close to mine...Nov 21st..my gyno told me Nov 20th though..
Take care,
Kristin

Hi Kristin my due date is Nov. 16th so yeah our dates are close. You are right carrying a baby is a miracle and we do have to be very careful of our activities and what we eat. So i pray to God that all is well for all the pregnant moms and that we will all carry our babies to term and have healthy babies. Just think for Christmas we will all have new babies. I am so excited and can't wait to find out what i'm having; then i will start shopping because i haven't had a baby in 10years so i don't have anything but i'll enjoy shopping.

Alex, what a nightmare it must have been for you to see blood clots and to be told by the ER Dr that you're having a threatened miscarriage. I can imagine how relieved you must be that someone identified the bleeding is from fibroids or cysts and that your baby is alright. Thank God for ultrasounds. DId they tell you how many fibroids/cysts you have and how long the bleeding should last?

Hi Perl, yeah i was very distraught, but now my faith is stronger so i'm not going to let the spotting or bleeding cause my faith to waver because i know that what God has started; he shall finish. So i can't wait until the finish in November. My cysts are in my uterus and it'ss 2 small cysts about 3cm. but because my uterus is strecthing spotting and bleeding may occur. As long as the baby is in the sac and is fine i'm okay.
