MellyMel - April 28

Good morning ladies~ I just wanted to update you all. I had my ob/gyn appointment yesterday and she is going to do another ultrasound Monday just to be sure everything is o.k. with the fetus. Is it even a fetus yet? Because of the light spotting, she is just being safe, but said that the last ultrasound the fetus had a very strong heartbeat and I shouldn't worry. She said 25-30/40?% of woman spot and/or bleed, which we all know, and have healthy pregnancies. The part that bummed me out is that I GAINED 7 LBS. IN THREE WEEKS since my last appointment. I was so terribly upset, but she didn't even mention it. The nurse weighed me and just said you've gained a bit. A bit??!!! I"m so sad. I didn't want to gain THAT MUCH this soon. Hell, I only wanted to gain 30 lbs. for my entire pregnancy. I will have to be extra careful and hope that after this trimester is over that I will not eat as much as I do now!!! But anyway, they said yesterday that I was at 8w/3d, so I give up. I thought I was 9w/2d. They win! I am only in my 9th week when I thought it was my 10th, so that sucked too, but whatever. Anyway, other than that, I still feel the naseau on/off and b___bs KILL me expecially while I'm sleeping on them!! OUCH!! Perl you are not doing that bad if you see what I just gained!! Anyone else have appointments this week. Wishing you all are well and doing great. By the way, from the posts I see that we are all thinking positive and that makes me very happy. Let's keep it up ok?!! XO

Melly, good to hear your Dr. is keeping a close watch and wants to do another u/s. We all know spotting is normal but it's good to get the rea__surance of an u/s. Let us know how it goes on Monday. Glad all went well with Daffy as well--we'll wait to hear your report next week too!! ****CHRISTA: WHAT IS GOING ON? I'd really like to hear from you. How was your appointment, Christa? I'm hoping you've just been too busy to give us some good news. But the suspense is too much, please let us know you are okay.

I'm here Perl, I'm here! I've been checking on t'all but I must admit I did take the weekend off. I went to a Dr. appt last Wednesday. Had my 4th U/S. (even I am boring of them) Baby is fine, hr 169. Bleeding is most likely coming from the placenta, we'll find out more on May 10th when I have my nuchal U/S. This kid will come out looking like a dolphin with all the sound waves it has been exposed to...lol. I had a 3 day break from ms where I felt pretty good. It came back with a vengenceon the 4th day an has resumed to what it has been. Lucky me. I am still a bit ambiguous towards the pregnancy. It exhausts me to even think about it. With my other pregnancy I was so excited about everything. Go figure. I am just waiting to come around and snap out of it. Got to get ready for work now. I'll try and post a bit more often... ( I really don't want to be the big downer on the board either so thats why I am not posting quite as much ) Take Care.

Perl - May 1

Whew, what a relief! Glad to hear you and baby are alright, Christa. You sound like you're doing well. I was a worried, but understand wanting to take a break. Your nuchal u/s is the day before mine (5/11). We're about the same on the ms. I had a little celebration last week thinking that my morning sickness and fatigue days were over too. Then the next day it hit me again. Aargh. I think (I hope) this means that the m/s is tapering off and will be gone soon. You shouldn't feel like you're a "big downer". You're not the only one feeling ambiguous toward pregnancy, other's have expressed it too. Even I have had a few days where I had my doubts whether I should be pregnant. For me the thoughts pa__s but we're all different. I think deep down most of us have doubts and fears (to different degrees)--it's just that we all have different ways of handling those doubts and fears. Each pregnancy is different for each woman and we should all feel comfortable expressing our thoughts to each other here.

MellyMel - May 1

Christa~I'm glad you checked in and that you are doing well. You are not a downer, so stop it! I feel alot like you so I like when you share your thoughts and such. Well, my ultrasound today when I showed up got rescheduled to tomorrow because the d__n tech called in sick!! What a friggen nerve!! LOL. Anyway,it's tomorrow at 8:30. I have been a little more worried this weekend over the spotting, but I can't do anything about it, so I figured why worry. I will find out tomorrow. Have a good (YUK) Monday everyone!! xo

Hi all....getting registered on here was such a pain...anyway, I'm formally here now. MY NT scan is on May 11th ...we're all really close. I'm totallyscared of that, at 43...well, you all know. I've also continued to spot, which the doctor says is probably from a low lying placentia...it's still really scary to get that every day. My morning sickness has given me a break for a day or two here and there...but hasn't stopped yet at all. OH, and the newest thing with me is a painful, itchy rash!! It makes me scratch until I bleed URGH. I'm going to see the derm tomorrow......holding my breath with all of you...xxx

Daffy - May 2

Hi all. I got a call with the results of the NT scan. Not good news I'm afraid - I was expecting it to come back positive as I'll be 38 at the time of birth, but they put me in the "very high-risk" category, which was a bit of a shock. I realize that I'm a bit overweight and that can affect the results, but I'm still pretty nervous. We see my ob/gyn on Wed. to go over the specifics of the results. DH has been very supportive, and we've already decided to do the CVS and amnio tests. I'm trying to be positive, and I've read the threads about those who had bad results but went on to have healthy babies, but they gave me odds of 1:11, which is really scary. The nurse rea__sured me that it was "just a screening", but I didn't get all the details, so I don't know if the odds were for DS or T18 or what. Guess I'll find out Wed.

christa0120 - May 2

daffy...how streesful for you. I hope everything turns out well. 1:11 is still under a a 10% chance (if my math mind is working properly...lol) Let us know what happens wed. I'll be thinking about you

MellyMel - May 2

Daffy~Please do not stress too much over this, because as they told you it is a "screening"!! So many woman have been high and delivered healthy babies. How many weeks do you have to be to get it done. I am getting this, but only because I am not having any of the blood tests done. I wish you the best of luck and please let us know how Wednesday goes. It's too bad they couldn't tell you if it was for DS or T18. I can handle DS/but T18 would be just awful. Best of luck sweety and keep us updated!! xo

I forgot to tell you about my ultasound. It went great! They are measuring me at 9w/4d and said the baby looked great and had a strong heartbeat, so they think the spotting is not a pregnancy problem related issue and not to worry. I got more pic's. It's amazing how much herm(short for him/her, because I have no idea what it is) has grown!! LOL. Anyway, I feel good knowing that all is well with the baby. My nausea still plagues me a bit, but hopefully it will not get worse than it's been. I have my next monthly appt. on 5/27. How is everyone else doing??

christa0120 - May 2

hey melly! congrats on the great u/s. Looks like your dates are the right ones! 9/4. I think I am 10/5 now. I go for my NTT on 5/10 and then another appt 5/24. They are becoming exhausting!

MellyMel - May 2

Can someone please tell me what weeks do they usually do the NT scan? Because if I'm not going back until the 27th, I will be in my twelvth week by then and will that be too late???

Kristin72 - May 2

Mel, Anywhere between 11and 13weeks6days is ok. It is up to you to book your appointment. Atleast is was for me. But your health care provider should have given you some info plus forms to bring with you, and.. the phone numbers of the places where you can have it done. Mine IPS is on Thursday..bag of nerves:( P.S. Congrats on your postive ultrasound!!!! XO Kristin

Perl - May 2

DAFFY: it is just a screening and those are just odds. You can think of it as a 1 in 11 (9%) chance that something will be wrong but best to think that you have a 10 in 11 (91%) chance that everything will be fine. But I know it's hard not to worry, it would be nicer to get less than 1% chance but how often does that happen at our age? You and I are the same age so I'm guessing my odds could be about the same as yours. Will be thinking of you on Wednesday. MELLY: You're right on target at 12 weeks for nuchal scan. I was told 11-13 weeks is the best time, I'm getting mine at 12 weeks just like you, mine is on 5/11. But I'm going to my OB on 5/4 first on this Thursday and hope to hear a heartbeat on Doppler. Congratulations on the good u/s! "Herm"??---you make me laugh. : )

Perl - May 2

Daffy, I forgot to mention my sister was told by her doctors she was "very high risk" for all but one of her pregnancies. She's obese (more than 350 lbs), has the worst severe asthma I've ever seen on anyone, is diabetic and has congestive heart problems. She has given birth to 6 healthy children, her last of which were twins born when she was 42. I don't think she ever bothered with amnio or any screening yet all 6 kids were born healthy even though she had some premature births. Just letting you know that even though things may sound less than perfect, they can turn out to be great.

MellyMel - May 2

Thanks Christa, Kristen and Perl! I am going to call, because if I wait until I see her, I'm afraid it will be so close that they may not be able to book me in time. CHRISTA~ May 10th is my birthday. I will be turning 39 ~ PERL~Good luck with your appt. Thursday and hope you get to hear the heartbeat on doppler!! Let us know how it goes.KRISTIN~Best of luck to you Thursday on your testing. Is it the NT Scan you're having done? How are the other ladies that we have no heard from in some time doing???
