Thanks Christa, Kristen and Perl! I am going to call, because if I wait until I see her, I'm afraid it will be so close that they may not be able to book me in time. CHRISTA~ May 10th is my birthday. I will be turning 39 ~ PERL~Good luck with your appt. Thursday and hope you get to hear the heartbeat on doppler!! Let us know how it goes.KRISTIN~Best of luck to you Thursday on your testing. Is it the NT Scan you're having done? How are the other ladies that we have no heard from in some time doing???

Your not invisible Happygal :)!! I feel that way too sometimes..especially if no one asks about you. But how have you been doing? Did you get your rash resolved? I have my IPS tomorrow..still reading up as much as possible on it. Even though I have had the IPS before..last time was the start of major worrying for me. Who know's this time things could be just great!! But I am just trying to prepare myself in the event I am screen positive. Your tests are next week? How have your symptoms been? I just always feel aware of my pregnancy. Hope you are well..actually I hope everyone is doing just fine..will update you all after the IPS tomorrow..crossing my fingers! :)

Mel, IPS stands for Integrated Prenatal Screening..you should ask you gp for a paphlet on it..or you can just look it up on the internet for more info :)

Mel, LOL! That nurse is out to lunch..don't even deal with her..ask your doc to call you when he/she has a chance..or make a quick appointment with yout gp. NT Nuchal Translucency~ measures the fluid behind the neck of the fetus between 11weeks and 13 weeks 6 days! Tell her that! Ciao!

happy...sorry you feel invisible. You sound identical to me except the rash. That could be a PUPPs rash but it may be too early for that. I would definately talk to your Dr. ASAP as it could also be an autoimmune response to the pregnancy. The IPS from what I could tell is just a name for a group of prenatal tests that include the NTT, Gestetional diabetes test and your 20 week U/S. Mel...It sounds as if you are at a very low level clinic. With your age etc why don't you ask to go see a perinatalogist. They are much more advanced and thorough then a regular OB. Kristin, waiting to hear your day

Happygal, hello and welcome. You just meshed right in with all the other posts that I think some of us may have missed you!! Congrats to you! Remember that age aint nothing but a number baby!! KRISTEN-DAFFY-PERL-CHRISTA~ Here they call the NT Scan - early risk a__sessment. So I just booked mine for may 18th at 2:00. I think I will be twelve weeks by then. Maybe they can see the s_x?? KRISTEN~I understand now what the IPS is. I"m not having the blood done, just the NT Scan and a Level 2 I think when I'm 16 weeks?? Hubby and I already talked about the blood test. I am learning and educating myself anyway in case of a DS child, so I will be ready. I don't need that extra stress in case of false positives, although I do realize that the ultrasouns are not 100% either. It's just a personal choice. So I go in a few weeks. I can handle DS, but I can't T18. I was told you can see that by ultrasound though, so that iswhy the no need for the blood work also. How is everyone doing?

Hi everyone! Thanks for all the advice and support - it really means a lot - you are all so wonderful!!!! Well, went to the dr., and also feeling much better now that I know more of the specifics. Turns out the Nuchal scan itself was absolutely normal, but the blood test is what raised all the red flags. (and it was for DS, not T18, which is also a bit more rea__suring.) My Dr. also said she wasn't sure why the odds were so high based just on the blood test since they usually go more by the scan as it's more accurate. (blood tests often are wrong it seems!) She thought they were making it sound worse than they needed to, but that they probably just wanted to be sure and recommend more testing. So I'm scheduling an amnio for week 15, just to be sure. (After all this I think you are doing the right thing MellyMel by not having the blood work done!!) The best part of the appt. was that we got to hear the heartbeat on doppler - what a wonderful sound. ~ Perl and Kristin - good luck at your appointments - can't wait to hear how they go. ~ Happygal - Hi!!! I also wouldn't worry too much about the rash - our immune systems are a little out of whack so some minor physical annoyances are bound to happen. ~ MellyMel - 12 weeks might be a little early to see what "herm" is (love it! lol!) - I was 12 weeks when I had mine, they said that first off the organs are a bit too small to see, and also my *herm's* legs were all curled up so it blocked the view! lol! But you never know. ~ Christa - I agree all the appointment and tests are exhausting, but they are worth it in the long run. : ) ~ aalexand - haven't heard from you in a while - hope all is well! Keep up the happy thoughts. : )

DAFFY~ So happy for you!! The scan was normal!!! Don't worry about the blood too much, that is exactly why I am not having it. It's a shame you have to go through an amnio and stress when your baby I'm sure is perfectly healthy!! They should do away with those d__n blood tests. I can't even tell you the stories of my sisters and sisterinlaws regarding thiers!! It was horrifying!! My sisterinlaw was told that her baby would be born retarded and had a perfectly healthy baby girl!! Un freakin believable!! Like you, I can handle DS, which would still be very hard, but much easier than T18, that would kill me!! I'm so happy that you're doing well and heard the baby's heartbeat on the doppler!! I had a feeling 12 weeks would be too soon :( to see the s_x. Oh well, guess I will have to wait for my Level 2 when I'm further along. I can wait a bit more. I guess I'll have to :-P
AALEX~where are you and how are you? xo

Hi Girls! Went for my ultrasound today and they decided to re-schedule me as they dated the fetus at 10 weeks 5 days..so I will return next Thursday when the fetus will be measuring 11weeks 5days. The technician did say from a glance everything looked good, heard and saw the heart beat, saw the little legs and arms :) I felt really good as I walked out the door. I now have a little pic of my little one...a reminder of what's inside :) Hope everyone else is doing just great...Will let you all know about next Thursday..Let us know how things go with your tests girls!!!
XO

Kristin~That is great. Too bad they had to reschedule you, but if you're measuring that early than the test would not be very accurate, so that is a good thing. I'm so happy for you that things look so great. Please keep up that positive att_tude you have. You sound very happy today!!! XO
