All sounds great ladies!!! SANN & Hopeful - you guys will be able to support each other through the next months...that is so great! Don't freak out when you start feeling good!! I gained almost exactly 40lbs - so am feeling good about weight loss - down 28lbs now - almost 2wks pp...still can't wear my jeans...or even close - the tummy is just not quite the same! ha ha Perl - I worried about movement until the time she was in my arms - she seemed to really slow down toward the end. Now I know why - she was busy sleeping! She is doing the sleep hard in the daytime and up at night! We are trying to nap during the daytime in order to make it through! My husband is able to be with me during this time - it is awesome. He is self-employed and things worked out where he could spend a lot of time with us right now and still work some over the Internet.

Hello all! Not much to report here. Had a bit of an icky day yesterday (no idea why but wonder if it might have been related to my sleep deprivation at the moment?) so napped a lot. Then I decided that I needed to find some energy from somewhere so I went swimming which was great although I came back really HUUUUUUNGRY!!! I think it may have helped me sleep too because I slept better (although still not right through by any means) last night so feel a little more lively today. tryingx3 - that's an amazing amount of weight. I want to b___stfeed too and am rather paranoid about my weight (as I'm overweight anyway and have an underactive thyroid which makes it really difficult to shift) so that's great news. WELL DONE to you and Katie!! Sann - yes it really is great that we're only a week apart. I really feel like we'll be able to do this journey together. Re. my symptoms........ Like you, many of them have eased in the last ten days which has concerned me slightly but as they're still present (some days more than others) I'm trying not to worry. tryingx3 - thank you for your support of our worries i.e. DON'T PANIC when we start to feel better! Very good advice which I will try HARD to follow. In any case, I still get sore b___bs and hunger pangs and now they seem to be worse in the night than the day so that could be the reason why I'm not sleeping. That's exhausting and very frustrating. Anyway, I'm 10 weeks today which feels like a major milestone - especially as I can turn a page/month in my pregnancy book!!!!! LOL!!!!!! Hooray! Perl - hope you're feeling better today. Speak to you all soon.

Hi all : ) Perl and Tryingx3 - Thanks for the rea__surance .... I was starting to get worried. Oh Perl - I know what you mean ... about the worrying. But it's sound like your doing really good. I can't wait to feel the movements. Have fun this weekend : ) Tryingx3 - I heard that b___stfeeding gets you back into shape faster too : ) I bet you'll be back to your regular clothes in no time : ) Hopeful - I haven't gain much weight ... less than half a lb : ( And I haven't been as hungry as compared to to the first few weeks. But the funny thing is my tummy is showing a little and my clothes are really tight at the waistline. Oh yes the b___bs ... they're not sore now but it was painful went I was in week 8/9 plus they have grown too !!!!!!! Anyway ... as of yesterday I begining to get some headaches, maybe it's because I haven't been sleeeping well (I get up at least 2/3 times every night i.e to pee) Exhaustion is still aound but not half as bad as before. Have a great weekend.

Hopeful - I have thyroid issues too...was actually hyper through pg and now am showing slightly hypo so they took me off of my medicine. I am excited about the weight and have not been near as freaked about bf as I thought I would be. They say the first 2 weeks are the hardest, I hope that is true and this it gets easier from here. It is really hard work but has so many benefits. We all went for a stroll today - I was feeling a little claustrophobic being in the house all of the time - mommy the milk machine. :-) As for 1st trimester, I don't know HOW MANY TIMES I would poke my b___bs to see if they were sore or not! Ha ha My docs office was kind and said I could come in anytime and listen to hb, but I never did. Mostly because I had appts almost every 2wks anyway. About the time I couldn't stand it anymore I would have an appt. Nap when you can, exercise if you feel like it at all - will help with weight gain and sleep. I didn't gain any weight during first 12wks, but made up for it somewhere along the line and ended up at 40lbs. I had one week I gained like 4lbs and then 3 wks I didn't gain any at all.

Trying: milk machine---ha ha!! I've heard from several women that it took them about 9 months to get back to their old body shape. You've lost so much already that I'm wondering if 9 months is an exaggeration. Maybe it can be done in less time. ***Hopeful: swimming is excellent exercise especially when you're pregnant. Sorry to hear that the soreness and hunger are keeping you up at night. I'm up at night but it's because of minor lower back pains. ***Sann: I've heard that headaches are very common during pregnancy but I'm not sure why. It's good to hear that your exhaustion is dwindling down now.

We decided to go to a meeting with a lactation consultant tonight to decide if we should sign up for cla__ses. Somehow I still think this should come to me naturally and by instinct but I feel like I'm kidding myself. We'll find out soon.

Perl - get a book, take a cla__s...it is worth it. There is a lot to be said about getting the right latch and knowing what to expect. Sann - I had headaches until week 16 and then they just stopped! Best wishes to you and Hopeful and you get through the 1st trimester blahs!

Hi ladies : ) My pc went bonkers after I responded to COL's thread and I didn't get a chance to respond. Perl - How are you doing? I heard from a grilfriend bf can be a little "tricky" for 1st time moms .... great idea to go for cla__ses : )Thanks : ) I was starting to worry about the headaches that I've been getting in the evenings cos I read headaches only kick in the 3rd trimester. I guess everyone's different : ) : ) : ) Tryingx3 - How's little Katie doing? Can you tell hoe much she has grown : ) I'm boarderline hypo but my ob/gynae doesn't seem to be very concerned and she hasn't put me on any meds yet .... should I ask her about it. I haven't gain weight so far in fact I lost a little weight cos I haven't been able to eat much for the 4 weeks : ( and meat taste aweful : ( ... so it's mainly veg. Ladies .... did the both of had any water retention during your 1st trimester? Talk to you soon!

Trying: I tried to get signed up for a cla__s but they are fully booked until early December which is AFTER my due date. So I'll take your suggestion to buy a book. If you know of a particularly good book please let me know. *****Hi Sann and Hopeful! I hope you ladies are doing as well as can be expected. Sann don't worry about weight gain or loss in the 1st trimester my Dr told me it's normal to gain or lose up to 10 pounds. It's difficult to eat when you're feeling queasy and when the sight, taste and smells of so many foods are so repulsive. I did have a little water retention in my 1st trimester but it wasn't really visible---only my ma__sage therapist could see it on my lower back. In my 4th month I started to fill out and my clothes still fit but they started to get too tight to feel comfortable. Take care everyone. I'm off to make some thank you cards for the baby shower gifts.

Perl - The Nursing Mother Companion, Kathleen Huggins - recommended by lactation consultant, I bought it and have used it for reference SEVERAL times - good to know different positions, what to do with engorgement, how to prevent clogged ducts, medications you can/can't take, etc... Katie is growing wonderfully - she weighed 8lbs 9 oz on Tuesday - the goal was to be back at her birth weight of 7lbs 14 oz - so guess bf is going good! As for water retention, I would notice bloating during the evenings making me "look pregnant"...then had some feet/ankle swelling starting around 16wks...it pretty much stuck with me the rest of the way. I didn't think it was too bad until now when I can see my ankles again! :-) I am concerned that I have grown in shoe size as I am still not back into a lot of my shoes and the swelling is gone!

Hopeful: thanks for leading us to your other post, I found it! Congratulations on a good ultrasound---I laughed at the image you gave of your little one holding a small pint of guiness--hee hee!! To answer your question (which I probably should have done over there but oh well), I got the scan informations and statistics that is all the measurements that they look for and more as the scan was taking place. Bring a notepad and take notes or have someone there with you to write down everything they tell you. The blood test results came 5 days later and they called me to give me my odds. I only did one blood test (5 drops of blood from a finger) so if you're doing 2 tests things may be processed differently for you. TRYING: Thanks for the book recommendation. I'm glad to hear that Katie is doing well and weighing in fine. My Dr. told me that my hands and feet should eventually go back to pre-pregnancy size but I know just a couple of women who would disagree with that. Maybe your feet still need more time? Dr. told me today that some women actually leak fluid from their ankles--I would freak out if my fat ankles starting leaking. SANN: how are the headaches?

Hi ladies ... Glad that everyone is doing fine : ) : ) : ) Hopeful - Wonderful : ) Your little bean gave you a "teddy bear" pose .... so cute isn't it : ) Tryingx3 - Thanks for the recommendation too, as I plan to b___stfeed too. Great to hear Katie is doing wonderful. Hope your swelling goes down soon : ) Perl - Thanks for asking .... my headaches are still here and it seems to be round the clock now ... any suggestions to make them go away. How's little Peter ??? Have you been feeling his kicks more often now? And how many weeks till due date? Oh dear ... I can't imagine what "leaking" ankles would be like ... yikes!!!!! Water retention is in my hands but I haven't got it in my feet yet. I hope the both of you would pop by the other thread too : ) Have a great weekend ladies : )

I also read somewhere not to try on your regular jeans until at least 4wks post-partum...of course I didn't follow that advice! Not a chance! I am hoping that something magical will happen this week and my shoes and my jeans will fit again. It is like the width and length of my foot has changed...my ankles "look" like all the swelling is gone. HOWEVER, I am still unable to get my wedding ring or engagement ring on...wore my engagement ring one day but it felt tight. Hopefully it is still extra fluid - I need to be drinking my water like I did when I was pg....important for b___stfeeding as well. So, so, so glad that things are going so great for all of you guys! SANN - I avoided caffiene while pg EXCEPT during my worst headache times. I would FILL a gla__s completely full of ice and add some soda with caffiene. Would make me feel like I had a full cup and the caffiene seemed to help the headache - sometimes. Might give some Sun Drop or Mt Dew a try!

Perl - thank you sooooooooo much for your info on the NT scan and blood tests and the advice to bring pen and paper. VERY SENSIBLE!! One more question - what were your results if you don't mind me asking? The reason I ask is that my thought is to only go on to the amnio if my NT/blood test results indicate that I should. Otherwise I'll stick with the good news from the first screening. Would love to hear from you tryingx3 and Sann to know what your thoughts were/are about all this. Thanks again - TTYL!! Belly rubs and Baby Hugs to all!

Hopeful - we elected not to do any "additional" testing...other than ultrasounds...and standard blood test, blood sugar, etc. My thyroid stayed hyper through pg but turned hypo after delivery. I took a med called PTU throughout pg for thyroid, but am off of it now and being monitored for hypo. We are hoping to keep me off of meds while b___stfeeding. I took 3mg (extra folic acid) and 1 baby aspirin during pg due to testing positive for a blood factor called MTHFR which can increase chance of clotting and also chance of heart attack and stroke (for me). Our 2nd pg failed due to extra 15 chromosome, but geneticist told us that our risk of having any other chromosomal problem (like downs) was no greater than anyone else our age (except on chromosome 15).
