Hello Perl! Well at least you don't have to be concerned about not knowing when you have to go to hospital!!! Try not to worry too much about the procedure and I'm sure you'll find the strength to enjoy your baby no matter what. I'm so excited for you! By the way - here's some good news.......I got my blood test results back and my risk for Trisomy 21 is approx. 1:3700 and for Tris 13/18 approx 1:7100. Isn't that fantastic!!? I feel very confident which is great and am thinking not to go for the amnio. However, we're not ruling anything out until I go to the doctor next week (now going Monday instead of Tuesday) and chat with her about my options. tryingx3 - I'm so glad you don't have to go to work. It sounds like you're having a wonderful time with Katie (even if it's exhausting) and nothing should change that. Sann - hope you're still well. See you on the Part 5 thread!!

Yeeehaw Hopeful!!! Those are fabulous odds---Congratulations! I'd be surprised if your Dr. recommends the amnio after reviewing your odds but it's good that you have an open mind and that you trust your Dr's judgment. Let us know what you decide.

Hi ladies ... Sorry I haven't been on this thread lately, I've been too caught up with work. Trying - Great to hear you and little Katie are doing really fine : ) Perl - I'm so excited for you : ) though a C-sect was not what you had in mind but I'm sure the doc knows best. Re : Skipping Nt and going straight to amnio - Well my ob/gynae felt going straight to amnio was the best option for us cos pathological results from our mc last Aug ... baby didn't grow and didn't had a heart beat because of a chromo disorder. So she felt even if we did do Nt and the results come back fine ... she'll still want to order an amnio to done just to be on the save side cos Nt is only a measurement. Well ... I really wish I don't have to do amnio cos I'm feeling totally worried, nervious and scared at the moment but my dh feels that it's best that we have it done. I think it's a great idea to get some help after your delivery ... and mom is definately the best choice. We have here, something called the "Confinement Period" which is the month after delivery. Women here hire a "Confinement Nanny" during this month ... this "Nanny" takes care of both baby and the new mommy, she cooks "special foods" (tonics etc) for the new mommy during this period and takes care of the baby for her (other than feeding) .... it's a practice here for asian women. I post over the other thread with Hopeful too ... my updates are there. I don't want to bore you with double posting. Take care and TTYL : )

Hopeful - how wonderful the results of your tests! Perl - yes, recruit help for coming home after c-section! You will need someone to help you. You might post on 3rd trimester and ask for advice for those who have been there! We have a ba__sinet as we didn't want to co-sleep. I have a pack & play as well but haven't even got it out yet! I believe it is lower to the ground - so that wouldn't be good for you. We have discovered that our backs are telling us how "old" we are!!! Both my husband and I have aches and pains....weird to have achey back NOW and not when I was 9 mo pg! I have a heat patch on and just took 2 advil!

Thanks Trying. I'm going to see if my mother and brother can be here within a day or two after I return from the hospital. I hope they can and stay a couple of weeks at least.***SANN: so you have a confinement period to look forward to--I wish we could do that too. When are you going to do your amnio? It seems like you're not totally convinced that you should be doing it thoug. If it's just fear, that's to be expected. It would make me nervous too.

Hi Perl ... great to hear from you : ) How are doing? How many more weeks to go? It's really great you have your mom to help out for a couple weeks. Re : "Confinement Period" .... I'm not sure if we're going have it the asian way (being only half asian) we're not absolutely sure of what to expect of or from a "Confinement Nanny". We'll have to find out more (from my girlfriends who have had a one) before we decide. I'm having amnio done on Friday. I'm having last minute jitters ... I guess. Though we've been told the risk is really small but ... you know what I mean. Do you recall couple of months back someone posted about having a mc after doing amnio? It's kinda stuck in my mind right now : ( Question : Is it normal to have some cramp like pain (lower tummy) at this stage or should I call my doc? Oh! By the way ... I'll be 16 weeks on Thursday : ) Have a great day : )

Yes, Sann, I do recall some cramping early on for me it was weeks 8-12 like menstrual cramps but later on it was a little more painful like I had pulled a muscle or something pulling (round ligament pain) but I don't remember how much later it was but it was pretty early in pregnancy. I'll be thinking of you on Friday--just follow your instincts on whether you should or should not do it. It is such a tough choice for every woman whether it should be done or not but it's completeley up to you and your doctor.

Hi Perl : ) Thanks for the a__surance ... I feeling alot more calm and compose now. For the past few days, I was totally thinking straight ... having these "cramps" and thinking of having to do amnio. Anyway ... I made a boo boo with the appt dates ... it's not on Friday but this coming Wed the 8th. What are your updates? I haven't been able to follow the "Nov Mommies thread'" lately, but I'm sure you're doing really fine. Trying - Thinking of you : )

Haven't forgotten you gals!! Just a little busy - ha ha! It's amazing how much time these little ones take up! I am feeling lucky to get a shower. My husband works from home but works a LOT so even though I am home full-time right now it has been challenging. SANN - best wishes with your amnio. Perl - you are sooooo close!! :-)

SANN: maybe that was wishful thinking on your part . My guess is that you'd probably be happy to get the amnio out of the way and over with. Well good luck to you on Wednesday then! ***Trying: I look forward to being where you are now even if it means no time for me but what are you doing to make sure you don't get too frazzled?? You're probably still just trying to get a routine down but soon maybe can your DH take the baby for an hour each evening or a day each week so you can get some peaceful alone time. * I'm sorry to report that the last week has been totally miserable for me. I have had severe itching for about 3 weeks that seems to be getting worse and I just found out that it's bile acid in my bloodstream that can cause harm to my baby. I started going in for fetal monitoring today. At the end of the non stress test, my blood pressure was high and I almost got sent to the hospital but I escaped having to do that because my blood pressure finally dropped. I'll be so thrilled to have this baby not only so I can hold him but so that my body can begin to repair itself because it's under a lot stress right now.

Are you girls still around?? Perl - still pg or a mommy? I am having bottle issues with Katie - she won't take one! So...it has been difficult to leave her for any time period. We are trying to figure out what to do. As for relaxation for me...uhm...none...due to the bottle thing. My mother came for 2 days last week and my MIL comes anytime we need her...for me to shower or to help my husband with something etc... I was also able to sneak out to BUNCO night one night while my husband and in-laws kept Katie. I thought it would be easier by now, but it really isn't. I suspect Katie is a little spoiled to "mommy"...as she will only sleep in the daytime with me holding her. Except for this exact minute, she is actually sleeping in her ba__sinet! I hope you guys are doing great and the Amnio went good for Sann!

SANN - sounds like things went really good for you! I am sooo glad! A little girl! They are soooo sweet! We are in love with Katie. She will be 9wks on Sunday - time does fly! We tease that it has been a blur! I am guessing Perl might be a mommy by now and too busy for us for a bit! :)

I'm a mommy now! Baby Peter Jacob was born on 11/7. My c-section was scheduled for 11/16 but because of pre-eclampsia problems he needed to be born sooner. I'm stil being monitored until my blood pressure is normal again and have to take high blood pressure meds which was never an issue for me ever before. Anyway, my baby boy is so adorable and I love him to pieces even though he's making me and DH lose a lot of sleep! I'm having issues with b___stfeeding. At first he was too sleepy to eat but now he wants to be fed so frequently that it's wearing me out. I need to figure out how to fix this. Glad to hear you're doing well too. I'll have to catch up more later. Just wanted to check in and give an update and say hi.

Perl - that is so wonderful! Isn't it great! It really is a blur - I am just now starting to feel like I am not walking around like a zombie. Baby Katie turned 2mo today! Everyone told me the first 2wks of b___stfeeding were the hardest....I found the 3rd week the hardest because she started being awake more and was really fussy at night - that is when I cut dairy from my diet and things got better.
