Hi! Peter just went 7 days without any poop and it was freaking me out! He finally had a b__wout that filled his diaper and off to the bathtub we went. His pediatrician said this is normal. Has it happened to you too Trying? ****How are you ladies? I miss hearing from you but I know we're all busy (Sann with all the appointments and getting ready for birth--YAAAY!! and Trying and I with our newborns). I'm sleep deprived but doing alright. Pete is 13 pounds and attempting to speak frequently--he's going to be a chatty loud one!

Perl - YEAH! Isn't it funny how excited we now get about poop!? Katie went 4 days once and freaked us out! She does seem to be getting on a "schedule" this week....1 in morning, 1-2 in evening. I don't like White Cloud diapers BTW. Peter has almost caught up to Katie. She was13.5lbs and 24 1/4 inches on Monday. Yes - we laugh at how much she talks ALREADY! We say we are in BIG trouble. My husband says she takes after BOTH of her grandmothers. I am sure he says "mother" when I am not around! ha ha SANN - we are getting SO EXCITED for you!! You won't believe the LOVE in your heart!

So which diapers do you like, Trying? Let's compare notes (and recommend for Sann's shopping list. BTW, Sann, have you started shopping and buying little clothes or are you going to wait? Do they do baby showers over there in China?). My least favorite are the 'Parents Choice'--completely useless, little Pete gets wet every time and they are the right size too. White Cloud are alright but not great. My favorites are the Pampers Cruisers, superabsorbent for nighttime. Huggies are pretty good too. Haven't tried Luvs yet. ***So I guess Pete is a little piggy or he's just going to be a big kid or Katie a pet_te one. I don't know what's considered average or normal.

Hello ladies : ) Sorry for not responding sooner : ( I thought I was done with work but boyyyyyyy was I wrong : ( I hope to all this "handling over" will be done soon. Ok .... enough about me. Both of you girls and your babies are doing well .... I hope I will do as well as the both of you : ) China???? I'm not from China and I haven't been to China either. I'm only half chinese .... both my parents are half Chinese and half English. Btw I'm in Asia ... I was born in Hong Kong and now we call Singapore home (been here since my childhood and same gones for my husband but he's half Chinese and half German) so baby showers are not a tradition for us here. Oh yesssss, we did a little shopping for our baby girl, got her some clothes, towels, bibs, blankets, disposable diapers (Huggies) etc ... but we still have lots to shop for : ) Talking about disposable diapers ...... Drypers is the most popular brand here then it's Huggies then Pampers (cos it's costly here) and there are some Japanese brands that are pretty popular. My girlfriends recommended Huggies, it's the most practical in terms of price and quality. Dr. Browns and First Years Breastflow Bottles ... I've not heard of, will check the stores again. Anyway ... I went for my regular check ups last week, My ob/gynae said my baby girl is measuring a little small ..... she's only 1.3kg/2.86lbs (at 29weeks) but she is in the normal range though ... Dh & I was a little freaked out when the doc said a little small : ( : ( : ( How much did Katie and Peter weigh when they were at 29weeks??? I did put on a little more weight for the month Jan ... 8.58lbs/3.9kg so why is it that my baby girls is weighing small : ( : ( : ( any clues, girls ??? (Still Jan. I put on an average 1kg/2.2lbs) And lately I've been getting lots of water retention, it's getting harder to put on my wedding ring. What can I do about the water retention ??? Ladies : ) thanks so much for keeping me in your thoughts. I'm pretty excited too, can't wait to hold my little princess : ) Just to let you girls know ....this Feb is a festive month for Chinese all over the world, it's the Chinese Lunar Year (Year Of the Golden Pig) so it's a busy month for us since we're half chinese. My updates, I'm now 30week pg into 31st week and starting to get tired pretty easily. My baby girl is letting her presence known, she's been kicking at different times of the day and night. Take care girls and will talk to you soon.

Sann, sorry for the misake. I remember previous posts you mentioned Chinese practices such as traditional Chinese herbs/medicine that you use and also the post where you considered whether you would or would not participate in the traditional 30 day period postpartum where someone cooks and cares for the new mom which I happen to know is Chinese tradition so I incorrectly a__sumed. Little Pete's weight was never estimated before he was born but he always measured 1 or 2 weeks large based on fundal height. Don't worry it doesn't seem that measurements before birth can be very accurate anyway. Heart rate and activity are more crucial. ***Hopeful: so nice to hear from you. HOpe to seem more from you soon.

SANN - I'm with Perl - don't worry too much about the estimates. By fundal height Katie was 4 wks ahead at one time and she arrived perfectly average. She nows measures in the 50th percentile (same size as 50% of other girls her age)...so she is a pet_te one. I use Pampers BabyDry (or something like that). I used Huggies early on and liked them too. I was not too impressed with Parents Choice (Walmart brand) and don't really like White Cloud either.

Trying: it looks like we have the same opinion on disposable diapers. Still having issues with night wakings? I am but we are making some progress like I stated on another post under b___stfeeding or infant care. I'll look for you over there.

Still here - still up around the clock....still loving every minute with her! :-) We may be close to teeth! She is sucking her lips in - looks like an old person who has taken their dentures out! :-) She especially sucks her bottom lip in.

Bad news - just found out my OB is not coming back to practice. She had a stroke in December and is unable to resume her work. So sad...she was/is wonderful!

Trying: sorry to hear about your OB. I've seen the effects a stroke can have on a person. It ranges from mild to severe so I hope it wasn't too horribly bad for your OB's sake. I'm very attached to my OB too but fortunately during my pregnancy I became familiar with the other doctors in her medical group and they are all very good. My favorite ob/gyn was the only male doctor in our women's center and he was awesome and so funny too, had me laughing at every annual exam. When he was retired I was so sad but I love the Dr. who replaced him so hope you will too.

We're falling to the bottom of the list. SANN - give us an update!

Did we lose Sann? Trying: how are you and Katie coming along? Are you still having concerns with the daycare people?

I don't know where SANN is...hope she is okay. Things are going better with daycare since they let the other girl go. I still struggle with taking her there - daycare is daycare, you know. I still know NOTHING about when/if I am going part-time. Corporations do NOTHING fast...except firings and lay-offs. :-) Katie is doing great. No teeth. Practiced saying da da da da da at 2:00 a.m. this morning. :-) Still up 3-5 times a night. I am so close to 6 mo now, that I am going to wait until then to start veggies.

How is little Peter? Bigger than "little Katie" I am guessing. Are you working or at home now? Any major milestones? Katie can roll over and enjoys eating her toes.

Hi Trying. Glad to hear I'm not the only one waking 3-5 times a night. I get so confused when I read about other 4 and 5 month olds sleeping 6-10 hours through the night and makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong. But on second thought I would not give up the closeness I feel with my little guy and the security I give him by responding to his needs. * I'm mostly focusing on Peter and being a mommy but I have written a few legal doc_ments for friends and acquaintances from my computer at home. That's all I'm willing to take on right now. ***Milestones. . .I'd say the greatest one now is that Peter is doing a pretty good job at sit ups or stomach crunches anyway he manages to get halfway up and prefers to be sitting up rather than lying down or reclined. And yes, he's a chunky boy with rolls of baby fat on his little legs and on his chin but as cute as a b___ton and all smiles and squeals except for a few hours when he gets sick during the evening or night. He's also spending more time taking in his surroundings. How cute that Katie is enjoying her toes and rolling over. I'm worried about rolling over since Peter does not like tummy time much and that's when they learn to rollover right? It'll happen eventually.
