I haven't had a cycle in two years, the hot flashes tapered off the last month, and I stopped MIRCETTE a year ago as I had no cycles and my gyn recommended for me to stop ASAP due to my age... And now I have the symptoms and am terrrified as I had been told 17 years ago I could never get pregnant due to endometriosis and surgical adhesions that blocked eggs from getting to the Fallopian tubes... My daughter is 18 and finds this hysterical, and the first at-home test came back neg... All of the home tests were neg for her up to delivery day... My husband says we are too old and would not be able to give a baby/child the nurtering they need... AArrgghh ! ! ! ! HELP! ! ! ! !

I think you need to have a period in order to ovulate.

Actually I am living proof that you DO NOT have to have a period to ovulate. My cycle has always been "off" sometimes going YEARS without a period. I had gone well over a year without even the slightest trace of one when I got pregnant this time. I didn't think it possible either, but here she is :-) Anna, you said you have symptoms, ARE you pregnant or just thinking you might be? Miracles still happen, we're having ours in November!

Missing a period, even for great stretches of time, does not automatically make one menopausal. I have only had about 5 cycles over the last 16 years and my doctors tell me it is due to one of two things (in my case). Either the ratio of fat ma__s to muscle ma__s.. somehow this affects the whole hormone system. Or having a nutritional difficiency (specific vitamins/minerals), which can offset the balance in all your chemical make up as well as your hormones. They tell me my female bits are healthy, they just very seldom work the way they should!
