Single Amp Ttc By Choice

Question: I am a single woman in my 30's ttc with a sperm donor, using IUI. I have been diagnosed with PCOS and now am taking metforin and will be starting my 1st round of Clomid. I always wanted the whole picture, happy husband, lots of children. However the husband has never materialized and I can not envision my life never having experienced the joys of motherhood. I am financially stable, and I am surrounded by a supportive and loving extended family. I was only wondering, are there other women out there like me? Is anyone else choosing motherhood even though they are single? The struggle with infertility has been an emotional one. As the time nears for me to begin a round of Clomid, I find myself nervous and second guessing my decision. However in talking to my sister-in-law, she said she felt the same uneasiness when she decided to become pregnant the “old fashioned way.” I hope to sympathetic ear, as I am nervous and excited all at the same time!!! Is there anyone out there

Parenting is extremely hard. It is hard when you are in a couple. Would I become a parent if I did not have another person to help? Absolutely! Stay your course.....the clomid, the IUI's the IF roller coaster sucks....but in the end...you will win a prize. You won't ever sleep again (LOL) but well worth it!

I second Christa's comments. My husband and I have realised just how lucky we are to have been able to conceive so quickly after trying and to have, so far, a text book pregnancy, particularly given I've been categorised as 'high risk' (I'm 37 years old). When we decided to start a family, I was so outrageously nervous. Then, when I got a positive result on my home preg. test, I was equally as elated. Should I have found myself without a partner at about this time, I would absolutely still pursue the dream and am certain that the nervousness and elation would still apply. I say go for it, and all the very best of luck, Tammy.

Hi Tammy: Although I am married now I have been a single mom for many years and although it was very, very hard for me at times, I wouldn't trade being a mom for anything. The hardest part for me was financial, and having to have my kids in daycare 10 hours a day. If I had been financially stable, and could have worked flexible hours, things would have been much easier. Good luck to you!
