I just had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks 4 days. We were excited to see a heartbeat and fetal pole, then shocked to find the heartbeat was only 90 bpm. The dr. was cautious, saying he wanted to repeat the test in 1 week. Have any of you heard of a case like this with a good outcome? I am so scared!!!!! I dont want to lose another one!!!(See 7 time loser post) Any thoughts wold be helpful........I am a nervous wreck.

Janet - At 5 weeks 4 days i had my first ultrasound and the heart beat was only 86. The doctor said she thought it was 50/50 chances it would be a viable pregnancy. The next week I went back (to a new doctor) and the heart beat was totally normal and has been normal ever since. I'm 16 weeks now. 90 is on the slow side, so you definitely want to go back in a week and by then it should be higher. If not, there could be a problem. But keep in mind the heart only starts beating around this time, so it's possible your ultrasound was done on its first day beating, and that's why it's slow. I will keep my fingers crossed for you and please let us know how it goes.

Thank you for responding. Your post has given me hope! I took off work this week, as I work in a very stressful environment. I dont know if it will make a difference, but I feel I needed to do SOMETHING that might make a difference. This will be the longest week of my life. I hope someone up there is listening to my prayers. My tears last night could have filled a swimming pool, but now that I got it out of my system, I am going to do nothing but eat right , stay inside where it is cool and take it easy. I will post back on wednesday when I hear more. Thanks again for your positive thoughts. I 'll take all I can get......
