Ttc 1st W Possible Short Luteal Phase

Hello, my dh and I are ttc our first. I'm 36 and he is 40. We are starting our second month of ttc. My first cycle off bcp had a luteal phase of 11-12 days. I don't know if this is normal for me or not since I never tracked it before bcp - I guess I just never had a reason to pay any attention to my cycle, but wish I had now. Two questions, does anyone know if 11 days luteal phase is long enough to sustain a pregnancy. Secondly, could a short luteal phase be the result of just coming off bcp? I would love to hear from anyone who has any knowledge on this or has a story to share. Thanks.

hi, i am 37 yrs old and have 3 kids. I have kept track of my cycles over the past 10 years(having babies etc) and know that I ovulate on day 18 and get my period on day 28, just like clock work each month. I had no problem concieving, first month each time. I was told that as long as it was at least 10 days it is fine. Good luck

According to Taking Charge of your Fertility book, the luteal phase should not be less than 10 days, so between 10 to 14 is fine. If its less than that you should contact your Dr. Hope this help

Thanks for your responses - good to know above 10 days is still considered normal.

10 days is the stated minimum. You can augement the lutealphase by adding progesterone. The truick is to stay on it until you know you are not preg, then stop so you can cycle. If pregnant the p4 just helps!
