Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and am one of those over 35 ttc. I just turned 37 in December, and was wondering if anyone here had alot of problems getting pregnant at my age? I have an 11 year old son, so its been a while since I have actually tried to get pregnant again.

I'm 36 and have a 7 year old son and have been ttc for over a year. I have high fsh levels and it has made it very hard to conceive. I've tried fertility pills, fertility shots and iui. I would get some hormone tests done to see if you are balancing out. I'm thinking of trying natural supplements, yoga and changing my poor diet. Good luck and baby dust!!!

Hi Grace....I am also new to this site....I LOVE it! It has been very helpful and encouraging. I just turned 38 in December, DH and I have no kids and we have been trying to conceive for 3 years. Like toothfairy, I am verweight and have a high FSH 15.3 and LH of 16.3 indication of PCOS-I am on 1500mg of Metformin. We have tried 12 IUI's with Clomid, 1 pregnancy ended mc. We have also tried 2 IVF w ICSI cycles-transfered 4 embryos both times no pregnancy. I am hoping the Metformin helps. Toothfairy - How high was your FSH? I wish you all luck!

CORRECTION: Like ToohFairy my FSH is high -I did NOT mean to imply her being overweight or other parts of my posting. I'M SORRY Toothfairy.

Hi! I just had a baby at 36 and want to try for number 2 at 37.5. I had issues with low progesterone, but know nothing about all this FSH stuff. I also had pregnancy induced hyperthyroidism...felt anxious ALL the time, until they figured that one out.

Jenn38- Sorry, I haven't been looking at all the forums lately. My fsh was 11.6 at its lowest and 21 at it highest. I got a few tests at 12.5.,13.5 and 16. They seem to think the 21 was a mistake but I'm not sure. I haven't gotten a test in a while though. Still not pg but doing acupuncture and herbs for almost a month. How are you doing? Are you pg yet? Baby dust!!!

HI Grace, I am 37 with an 11 year old too! I remarried last year and we TTC last June. I had a MS in Jan.(blighted Novum)and I got pregnant in Feb.! We were shocked! I went for a sono yesterday and there is a sack and a embryo. So far so good. I have about 4 friends right now our same age due to give birth this month or next. Have fun with it and if you really want to just go for it! You really won't know until you just try. Best of luck to you!

hi all, dh is 43yrs and i will be 38 in sept and me and dh are going for our 2nd together. i have 2 sons frome previous relationship aged 16yrs and 19yrs plus 15mth old alex who is mine and dh first son. dh has also has 2 sons from first marriage aged 13yrs and 15yrs. it took me and dh 3yrs and 15 mc to get our little boy who it turns out has epilepsy after he had a stroke whilst still in the womb ( nothing to do with our ages as we had test done to be on the safe side). we are ttc our second together and hoping for a little girl. this will be our 2nd mth and i am now on cd 12 and waiting for the big O. from looking a this site i have seen loads of ttc's who are over 35 and going for #1, as you will be trying for #2 i wouldn't worry too much just have fun. i use fertility friend and check my temps to check when i am due to O. good luck

I tried for my first just after turning 37. It happened first try...so there is a wide spectrum of possibilities out there. Dd is now 17 months and I was worrying that I'm now 39 and should start ttc for #2. I'm now 7 weeks preg...again after first try. It's sooooo individual. Good luck!

Wow!!! You ladies keep me optimistic. I'm 36 and have been ttc for about a year and a half. I took a break and I'm going to start trying again. I have been trying to balance my hormones since my periods weren't normal. I got them every month but sometimes they are scant. I'm using herbs and acupuncture. I tried fertility meds in the past but no luck. I have high FSH. Have any of you used fertility meds to get pg? How about herbs or acupuncture? BABY DUST!!!

Hi all, Thankyou for the baby dust ladies; just found out Monday that I am pregnant! Guess I'll have to change my user name (smile). Baby sprinkles to you all! God bless!!

3_babies_ at_41- Congratulations!! Did you use any fertility drugs to get pg?

3_babies_at_41 - April 9

And congratulations to you also, tooth fairy!! No fertility drugs, just told my hubby "LET'S GET BUSY" when the ovulating started. You know when you're ovulating, because of the slippery, stretchy, clear discharge. Oh my! A 4 yr old, a 3 yr old, a 2 yr old (in Jan. '09) and a little baby --- due in December. Oh my!

3_ babies_at_41- You inspire me so much!!! I have felt so defeated but your story let's me know that age doesn't always matter when ttc. I've got high fsh and unbalanced hormones. My acupuncturist put me on herbs and my periods have become normal and my bbt has been improving. My hubby and I have tried fertility drugs in the past but want to try a natural approach. Do you take any vitamins or herbal supplements? I'm near the ovulation time so we hope May will be our month. If not we'll just keep trying!!! Wish me luck!! Congrats again and keep me posted!!!!

Hi tooth fairy (and all other ladies). Don't feel defeated; hopefully it will happen for you ---- when it is "your time". I never have taken any herbal supplements, and the only vitamins I take are the prenatal vitamins. I was going to be given fertility drugs with my first child (I was 37), but I became pregnant before receiving them. Imagine getting ready to be given fertility drugs, but then you ask you doctor are you pregnant (because of the sore nipples, and other symptoms); and she says, "Oh yeah ---- you are pregnant!". Thank God I asked, or my now almost 4 yr old could have been seriously damaged. Needless to say ----- I replaced that doctor almost 4 yrs ago! In saying this, nothing wrong with taking fertility drugs (could speed up the process!), just make sure your not pregnant before you start taking them. Make sure your doctor double checks your chart, for the results of that blood/pregnancy test. Tooth Fairy, I am wishing the best for you (and all the ladies on this site, ttc) & your hubby. Stay positive, & DON'T GIVE UP!! Baby, baby sprinkles.
