Yes, they are asking why doesn't he get a vasectomy instead of having you get your tubes tied. It's much easier for a man to get the surgery and the recovery is easier than for a woman to tie her tubes, but since you are already going to be in c-section pain, I don't think it matters. I was going to do this too, but since I'm delivering in a Catholic hospital, it is not allowed, so hubby will be getting his vasectomy after the baby is born. Good luck to you!!!

but i mean the side effects of a tubal i cant figure out what they mean ....i will be on the table and open for a Csection why not just do it while i am there but they are saying there are bad side effects to a woman have a tubal and none for a man that has a vasectomy then hubby will be out of work and we cant afford that with me out too it just seems easier for me to do it

If you are already having a c-section, I'm not sure what they mean by bad effects. I could understand it being more for you if you wern't having a section. If I concieve again, ttc our 4th, I will definately be tying mine during my section. I will watch this post as I'm now curious to what effects there are. Good luck.

They are ignorant. There is no difference recovering from a csection vs recovering from a csection with a tubal. They were probably just thinking that you were going v____ally and thenopting for the surgery.

Hi KayKay, I had my tubes 'clipped' at the age of 27, after having four children now 21, 18, 15 & 13 (I fell preganant easily back then, on the pill and the coil, hence why I wanted some control in my life). I was told at the time when preganant with my youngest, that they would not do the op to clip my tubes at the same time as my 'C section' because the womans body needs to 'settle down' after childbirth so I was booked to have it done three months later. In the UK, the op on man would give him two days off of work, on a woman about a week. So not too much time off of work. I now know I made a mistake having my tubes clipped so I went ahead and had a REVERSAL done in Aug of this year as I have been in a 9 year relationship with my dh, and we would like to have a child together, a planned pregnancy would be a first! ;-) . I was told by my consultant that the sterilization OR reversal procedure is far easier for a man to have done as the op is shorter and less painful, than it is for a womans to have it. The sterilzation op for a woman is carried out under general anesthetic, so recovery is longer, whereas the op on a man is normally done under local anesthetic, The procedure on a woman is done using a camera pa__sed through into the abdomen just below the belly b___ton, then two small cuts are made either side of the tummy where the tubes will be and a tool is inserted to 'clip' the clips on the tube. I have read that clips are the easiest form of sterilzation and if you should have a reversal later in life ( I never contemplated that I ever would) your chances of getting pg are greater with this method. I hope this helps
