Unbelievable Odds Have Been Beaten Here

My husband had a vasectomy reversal this past jan. We had read that pregnancy odds for couples over age 35 in our situation were, at best, 40%. Today, I took a first response test....and it came out positive! I am turning 39 in May, as is my husband....and am in total shock...in a very good way. Has anyone ever had much experience with the first response tests? That is, if the urine used was afternoon uring, and the pregancy line comes out fainter than the control line...is this normal?? Is there a reasonable chance that the test is fooling me? Please tell me. My husband is gone at work now and I have no way to contact him.....and am chomping at the bit to tell him if, indeed, this is really true. Thanks so much!!

The line no matter how faint or dark can only turn color at all if it is reacting to HCG (pregnancy hormone) in your blood. Congratulations!

I have many women with tubal reversals and hubbys with vasec reversals who have had 1, 2 or more healthy babies! Congrats and prayers for you!

Congratulations! I used the first response test too and my line was so faint I did not want to believe it. I even called the 800 number to ask. They said two pink lines "no matter how faint" means that you are pregnant. It need not be first morning urine either. Congratulations again!!

thanks everyone. i did go out and buy a digital just to confirm...and the thing came up preggo pretty wild. this will potentially be my second child...born twenty years after my first! Guess that's what happens when you marry for the first time at age 36.

Congratulations!! When I did a first response..my line was quite faint..a day later I took another test and the line was much darker..Alleviate any worries and go to your doctor or a walk in clinic and you will have confirmation of these results by tomorrow afternoon. But remember a line no matter how faint is a line!!! Your levels of hcg before your missed period are usually quite low..but will double everyday after that..again congrats!! :) Kristin

Kristin, you're right. just for the heck of it today, I used the last test that came in my packet and found that the line today was much darker than the one from yesterday..... the major bummer is that I have been able to tell several close friends...just not my husband!!! He was incognito in BC last night on a layover and there was no way to contact him. how ridiculous is that!
