Hi. I'm new here--42, single, recently out of a ltr and dating again (you can see where this is going) and I also recently began taking a seizure medication known to cause birth defects (cleft palate. Not detectable on amnio and can impede breathing, eating and speaking) as well as other risky meds. Well, after dating a guy for less than a month, I got pregnant. There's nothing about this situation that is good: the guy is showing his true colors (not a candidate for parenthood), I don't have family support, financially, I'm not in a good spot (I'm finishing a Ph.D. and will be on the job market in a year. Almost impossible with a newborn. And almost impossible to raise a child with what I make now), I've exposed the kid to known severe birth defect risks AND I was diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening condition (aneurysm)a few months ago. Chances are very good this will resolve, but I won't know for a year what direction it's heading. All of that said, I'm just really sad. I don't want to have a baby alone and nothing about this feels right, but ending it is also just so sad. Anyway, just throwing that out there.
