I'm 21 weeks and I had some lower right abdominal pain that I called the doc about and they asked me to come in. They told me I probably have a strained utero-sacral ligament. These are different than round ligaments which run on either side of your abdomen and into your thighs--the utero-sacrals run under the belly and around the hip to the spine. It’s one of those things where they rule out the worst stuff (appendicitis, preterm labor, kidney stones, etc) and then just send you home since none of the non-worst things are treatable. The midwife on duty said to buy a "support garment," stop walking for exercise and start swimming, and that I can take tylenol but it probably won’t help. I asked if it could be a fibroid (I have 3, sometimes they “die” which doesn’t mean they go away, it just means they stop growing and hurt a lot) and she said it might be, but that if it is, they can’t do anything about it anyway. The good news is the baby seemed fine--she was kicking so much they had a hard time hearing her heartbeat—so I’m trying not to worry, but am pretty uncomfortable. Mostly walking, getting up/sitting down, rolling over in bed. If I stay in one position it’s totally bearable. The midwife kind of gave me the “you’re pregnant and it going to get a lot worse” thing so I’m trying to suck it up! Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if there's anything I can do to ease the pain? thanks!
