Hi everyone, Well I'm 34 and preggo with what will be my first litte one. YAY! Anyways, the Dr. said that around 14 or 16 weeks, he would like to do a high-level (or something like that) ultrasound. He said it's just something they do for women around 34-35 years old and older. What is the difference between this and a regular ultrasound and what shoud I expect to see? btw..I'm now 9 weeks along and little peanut is doing great so far.

well here they call it a level 2 ultrasound and it is usually done at a hospital and the pics are much clearer and they can see alot more...don't worry I had 2 done I was 34 when I got prego this last time and you know I was so glad that I had that done it is like 3D and 4D pics and they can usually tell you what your having mine was done at about 17wks and they knew it was a boy right away...my 3rd boy LOL anyways you will enjoy having this done and it will give your peace of mind that your baby is healthy ( :

Just as RL said, it's a clearer US (here it's called targeted) where they will take measurements like femur/humorous length, nose bone evaluation, make sure the skull is formed as it should, look at the heart, kidneys/bladder, GI tract, etc, all as a screen for potential defects. I just had one myself. Nice to get such a nice long look at your baby. I was in there almost an hour. Also, looks like a boy. =)

um, lessee here, about 19 weeks. All looked well, my risk for T18 went from 1:286 to 1:540 just from the US, so peri suggested no amnio, unless I really wanted it, which I didn't. =) Good luck
