Hi Everyone, I am currently 17 weeks pregnant. I have been an acne sufferer most of my adult life, I've tried everything, special diets, proactiv, pills, you name it. The only thing that ever worked for me was the Birth Control Pill which always cleared up my skin. I had read that some people who suffer from acne get a break during pregnancy and I thought maybe I would be lucky but I'm not lol. My acne is full on and it's making me feel very unhappy and self-conscious, this may seem shallow but if you've never had severe acne you don't understand. I'm not talking about a few pimples here and there, it's what they call nodular acne and it's big red and everywhere. I've read online tons of different conflicting solutions for pregnant women and I just don't know what to do. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do about it? I've thought about just riding it out until the end but it just hate the look of my face.

I can totally relate! I have had acne most my life as well, not the nodular one you have, but enough to make me embarra__sed about it. I have had a few cysts since becoming pregnant this time, horrible and it hurts!!! I have found the only thing that has worked is Beauti Control for Acne...its worked wonders!! It does have salicylic acid, but since its on and off right away its fine. Im 23 weeks, and when I was 20 weeks it was at its worst. Its gotten much better! Im hoping with spring and summer the sun will help too. This is my third baby and by far my worst skin! Hope this helps!

Acne definitely sucks lol for lack of a better word. I will have to try that product and see if it works, so far the only option will be to ride it out. Hopefully my child will have good looks since it's stealing all mine haha ;). I'm hoping the summer will help as well.

try sulfur based products, they are safe during pregnancy and the only thing that has helped clear my skin at 12 weeks preggers. Mario Badescu has amazing products try the drying cream with sulfur!

Some acne medication CAN be dangerous to a growing fetus, I would consult both your doctor and TTIS (1-800-733-4727) before you start treatment. You never want to take the risk of exposing your baby to any harmful agents that many be ingredients.

I too and suffering from acne. Mine started in my first trimester on my neck and jaw line with big pimples- now I have white heads all over my cheeks. My face is also always red. I looked up pregnancy and rosacea to see if that was what I was suffering from instead but couldn't find a lot of information.
