My question is about these painless contractions - how much is to much if there are no other sympthoms present? I am at the end of the sixth month and they seem to increase.

You shouldn't have more than 5 or 6 an hour.

last time I was pregnant, they started coming regularly at 26 weeks. I would have them in the evening and they would come about 10 or 12 an hour no matter what I did to stop them. My doctor didn't seem too concerned and I ended up carrying to full term, though I was already 3 1/2 cm dialated when I was induced at 39 wks. I don't think everyone follows a specific guideline, but you should still definitely check with your dr to rule out problems.
