Baby Developed Ahead Of Schedule Weight Gain

Hey ladies--first let me say that I underwent 3 mos of insemminations before I was able to conceive, so I've always wondered if the drs. are correct on my due date..BUT--the situation is that my LMP was 7/11 (spotting) and from that they are counting my baby's due date as 4/14. (I do wonder if the baby could have been conceived sooner, to explain my inquiry)...but presuming the dates are right... My home scale weighed me at 176 the month we conceived...I'm now 200 at 21 weeks. (Keep in mind, one OB told me I was more like 23 weeks.) I know this sounds high and trust me, I look very very pregnant, but the thing I don't understand is..the drs. have said from the first ultrasound that the baby is 7-10 days developed ahead of schedule. I'm 5'8" and carry the weight well, but I keep feeling like I'm somehow doing something wrong. In my athletic mind, I always thought I'd exercise more when pregnant, but the first tri took me down and i had no time for anything but sleep--now, in the 2nd tri, I've developed plantar fascitis in both feet, knee pains, etc., and still tired... I don't feel like I'm eating that poorly, but yes, I do have the cravings for that choc chip cookie everyday (although I don't always cave).... I'm not a lazy couch potato, but, am concerned if I should be doing something differently. I asked OB who said i looked fine and that they had me weighting 184 when I came in first (which puts weight gain at 13 lbs at that time) (but I didn't see them until I was 8 weeks prego).
So...what are your thoughts/experiences with the gain--how are you all doing--will it make labor harder; will the extra weight affect baby (or, will the baby's body still only develop at the pace necessary for its own development?)... Does it sound more likely that baby is further along than they suspect--since she's been ahead in development during every u/s? Or, am I just worrying unnecessarily? I do want to be careful so that I can lose it if possible after the baby.

Hey Runner, try not to fret too much, everyone's weight gain is different and you might possibly be retaining more fluid than most women. I can't honestly say whether your baby is further along than 21 weeks, when was this first u/s? I'm 21 weeks too, but when they did the u/s at 19 weeks the baby was measuring closer to 20 to 21 weeks, and my dd always measured ahead. By the time i was 37 weeks she was measuring 41. I gained 35 lbs with my first, it took a while but i was able to lose all of it and then some. We walked a lot. If your an athletic person i'm sure you will have no problem getting back in shape.

First off, Krissy25 is your daughter Sammi/Sammy?? Secondly Runner! I agree with Krissy! You will fluctuate and i have a feeling your baby will too.. I always measured small with my daughter and with this one (its a boy) he is measuring small too... my doctor told me neither is a concern that they will be healthy just my daughter was 5.13 when she was born and my dr thinks he will be close to 6lbs too.. And With my daughter being small i still managed to gain like 50lbs! I swear at the end of my pregnancy i just ballooned out! It did take me like a year to get that off but i honeslty wasn't trying too hard either... I think you're okay and if your doctor has ANY concern they would let you know! Don't feel lazy or like you should be doing something.. While one woman feels wonderful during pregnancy it takes its toll on each of us differently..
