Can Stress Harm Your Pregnancy

I won't even get into what's stressing me but it has nothing to do with the pregnancy itself etc. I'm almost 15 wks pregnant and everything has been going just fine and the baby is fine but I've been extremely stressed out the last week or so to the point where I'm getting headaches because it's all I can think about. I don't sleep worth a damn because I wake up stressed out and with a headache. I hate it! I know this cannot be good. Can stress cause a miscarriage this late? I heard stress itself cannot cause one but it still worries me. I have no way to escape the stress right now either except for at work!

Stress can be harmful during pregnancy. My first child was born at 31 weeks. My husband had been ill during my pregnancy. I spent most days arguing with his insurance company and working at a job with alot of stress. I really believe that is why she was born early. She, now at 7 years old, is a high stress person. She gets stressed really easy. You really need to take it easy. I know it's hard, but you must think about you and the baby.

I have been really stressed lately too and I am concerned as well. I have decided to avoid the people, places and things that do the triggering for the duration of my pregnancy and maybe take up pre-natal yoga or something along those lines. My husband even stresses me lately so I had a talk with him this morning about my feelings and how he can help. Heidi - I don't know if this will work for you too but I hope you feel better.

I hear you. I plan to avoid all the stress too but I won't be able to get away from them for a few more weeks till our house is built. Then I'm going to hide and relax. I'm only 15 wks so I'm hoping it won't effect the baby. Basically we live with my parents and my older brother moved home and now my other older brother is moving home with health problems, we all have dogs, they don't all get along, and so I'm trying to figure something out and I just don't need this right now! Damn brothers!!!!!! They're all in their 40s. That's the sad part! So it's nothing life threatening, just very annoying and they're driving me batty. I'm just going to avoid it all from now on. Thanks!

I think alot of the stress has to do with hormones. I catch myself getting worked up over little things that would normally not bother me. I guess you just need a way to relax yourself.

Heidi - Wow, I am stressed about my family too, but they live 1000 miles away from me. It must be difficult all being under the same roof, even if temporary. Just try to picture yourself a couple weeks from now in your brand new home, just you and your hubby and decorating a nursery! Hopefully that can bring warm thoughts :)
