Hi Michelle & Denika:
I am in NB, but am moving to NS at the end of May. I am due July 28, and will be living in Lakelands (halfway between HFX & Windsor) with my sweetie. I am 35, and had always been told I would have no children, so I have been followed as a high-risk pregnancy at IWK Women's Center since wk 12 (am currently wk 24), so the transition should be fairly smoothe. Glad to see some East Coasters on this site :-)

Nice to hear from you. I reel really lucky that we have the IWK so close. I am 21 weeks, first BB, and have our Ultrasound tomorrow. My husband and I live in Hammonds Plains, about 30 minutes outside the city off the 102 HWY. We just got back from a roadtrip to Moncton in the hopes of finding Maternity Clothes, with no luck! Oh well. Do you know the s_x of your baby? We dont have the option, but am sure we will be looking closely tomorrow to get a hint!

Hey New Mom & Jennifer. Nice to hear from you again Jennifer. I hope everything is going OK. How was your 20 week ultrasound. Did you find out the s_x of the baby?
Welcome New_Mom. Where are you from? Have you felt the bb kick yet. My first real kick happened last weekend, and he/she just wont stop! Mostly first thing in the morning and last thing at night. He is on a schedule already...i hope it stays that way!

Michelle. it would be nice if they were born on a schedule wouldn't it. My 20 week Ultrasound was good, we didn't find out what it was, it had its legs crossed, I had to go for another ultrasound at 23 weeks, because there was a small spot on the liver. It is a small cyst, but there is no blood flowing through it and that was the main concern. They really don't know what it it caused from, I had to go for some blood tests, but I haven't gotten the results back yet. I have to go for another ultrasound at 30 weeks and then again at 35 weeks. I don't mind that at all. I love that. I still don't know what it is, and we decided that we didn't want to know, even though that decision is killing me, knowing that I have to go for more ultrasounds and the Doctor knows what it is!!! How was your Ultrasound and do you know what the s_x is???

Hello Jennifer.. I will talk to you here and in the other conversation! It must be scary finding a cyst on the liver. They found a cyst on my ovary the first U/S, but they told me that it was normal for preg moms to have them there. I hope everything goes OK with the rest of your pregnancy. Did they say the cyst was caused by your preg. or was it there from before?
I am kinda glad we dont have the option to know whether it is a boy or girl.....no decision to make. If I did, I think I would want it to be a surprise, but I think my husband would want to know, so you never know.

Michelle - I have been to the IWK twice and both times were awesome and the people were great. They do tell you the s_x of the baby at the early fetal a__sessment clinic, so I know I am having a very bouncy girl! We were thrilled, though like most, all we really hoped for is a very healthy baby. At 12-wk u/s you could see entire baby bouncing around like a little gymnast, at 20 wks we got bits and pieces, and a lot of it I found very hard to distinguish, but it is so AWESOME! Best of luck with your u/s. I've seen the sign for Hammond Plains on my way to HFX; that is so cool. As for maternity clothes, I got a few pieces at Thyme Maternity (MicMac Mall), but then ended up walking by Eclipse and Le Chateau boutiques, and the style this year is very maternity-like, so ended up getting tons of great tops that will expand with me for a lot cheaper... At least I hope they will expand, as it seems I have really "popped" these last few weeks:-) Anyhow, real glad to find this site, and looking forward to hearing how your u/s went.

Hey Jennifer - I am currently living in Campbellton, way up on the frigid North Shore :-) I spend a lot of time travelling for work, mostly to Fredericton and Moncton, but I've cut back on the travel lately, and am actually hoping to only have to travel to Fredericton once this month. Great to hear from a fellow NBer. Whereabouts are you from in NB?

Michelle.. The cyst is on the baby's liver, not mine. they really don't know what it is from, they did a few blood tests on me, just to see if I might have one of two viruses that could cause it, or they said that it could have just been a broken blood vessel from early on in my pregnancy that might have caused it. The specialist said that it was not something that he was worried about, but wanted to keep his eye on it, to make sure there is no changes to it, so I have to go for an Ultrasound every 5 weeks and I got to get a picture of the Ultrasound, so that is really awesome, because they normally don't do that, but this specialist does. We want to keep the s_x a suprise, well my husband does more then I do, but I am fine with it being a suprise too, but I wouldn't mind knowing, so I could go shopping for either pink or blue, instead of yellow and green. lol . I am just thinking that when I get going for ultrasounds in weeks 30 and 35, it might be a bit easier to figure out what it is??

Hi Jennifer:
Thanks for asking... I have actually been feeling fine throughout this pregnancy. I am followed as high-risk, which is hilarious because so far the MD's have told me that I am less at risk than a 20-yr-old, but they continue to watch me closely. The only symptoms I've had are extreme fatigue up until about wk 18, and some nausea (very slight) with the maternity pills, which I ended up stopping... I eat like a pig, continue to run most every day, and everyone tells me I'm glowing :-) I love feeling the baby kick and move around, though I must admit it sort of spooked me at first. Now, when I go to bed and she is bustling around, it just makes me giggle. Hope you are feeling well, don't mean to gush, I just feel extremely lucky.

Christine.. I am glad to hear that things are going well. So why are they watching you as high risk, if you don't mind me asking? I am feeling great, I love being Pregnant, I love feeling the kicks. They found a Cyst on the baby's liver, so I have to go for an Ultrasound every 5 weeks, so that they can keep an eye on it, to make sure there is no changes. The Doctor said that is was not something to worry about, but he wants to watch it. Well it is kinda hard not to worry about it, but the Dr, was very possitive, and make me feel much better about it.
