I have recently developed heartburn really badly, everyday I go to bed and wake up with it, sometimes it wakes me up. I'm going to take something for it my doctor recommended, tums isn't cutting it...I've never had heartburn before, until my pregnancy...I am 20 weeks...anyone else new sufferers?

I think I had heartburn from day one...I should have been able to guess I was pregnant from it! (I never had it before I was pregnant.) Laying down after I eat ALWAYS makes it start up; I always make sure I am propped up on some pillows. I have to stay away from certain food too. Juice and chocolate really do me in! If it's really bad at night, I will sleep on more than one pillow. Also, I am not a big milk fan, but a mouthful of milk really seems to help me. I tried tums once or twice. They didn't even touch the heartburn!

I've had it really bad too! It usually is bad after lunch until I go to bed. Most doctors say that Tums or liquid Maalox/Mylanta are the best choices. However, my doctor told me I could take Pepcid AC pills. They really seem to help. If I know I am going to have a spicy/acidic lunch, I will take one before lunch and it really helps. I only take them when I really need them though.
