High Cholesterol During Pregnancy

Hi Ladies...I am 25 weeks pregnant and had to have blood work done for a life insurance policy. Anyway, my cholesterol level came back very high at 252! I have a call into my OB. I did read on the internet cholesterol levels are often high during pregnancy and level themselves out about 6 to 8 weeks after the birth of the baby. Anybody have any insight into this? I dont eat bad and I never have had high cholesterol before. I have gained quite a bit of weight though...

Do not worry. I asked my doctor on my last visit about checking cholesterol, since my family has a history of it being high. She said that it will show up high in pregnancy, because of the hormones. Also, estrogen is a natural protector of your arteries, so I was told. Therefore, my doctor said that now is the time to eat all the eggs and b___ter and cream I want. She would not even test me, because she said the results would be worthless. I seem to recall that the same goes for after the birth when you are b___stfeeding.
