Are you serious? Everytime I turn around I'm hearing something else we're not supposed to do or eat that I hadn't previously heard, it's almost frustrating because then I start worrying... I'm trying so hard to have a healthy pregnancy. Okay done whining. So really? No hot baths? Why? I've taken them a LOT lately.... :(

I honestly think your baby will be fine. The reason they say to avoid hot baths or hot tubs is that your temp could rise too much, and that can hur the developing baby. I've heard though that it is way worse in the first trimester, and after that, they are more worried about dehydration, not problems with the fetus itself. Also, I'm sure if you got overheated, you would have gotten out or turned the cold water on...I'm sure it was fine. Try not to worry :)

Well if it makes you feel better I got a high fever when I was pregnant with my daughter (17 weeks). I was terrified I had harmed her even after I got the fever down. The next day at my doctor's appointment we found out she was fine. I also took warmer than normal baths; so I think again it's just another "caution" given to us. It doesn't necessarily mean the moment you take a hot bath your baby will die or something. Try not to fret (yeah I know, something easier said than done for all pregnant women).

amberbaby: it's called a period. use it PLEASE! and you aren't supposed to take hot baths that can raise your body temp. it's not silly when pretty much every doctor says to not take baths that are too hot. i'd say the original poster is alright, though.

ok i copied this from google hope it helps "The main concern is during the first trimester with the fetal brain development, if you have a fever or body temperature is raised artificially in a very hot bath, it could interfere with development. However, don't panic - most of us took hot baths before we knew we were pregnant or caught a flu during the first trimester at some point. We are mainly talking about prolonged very high temperatures, such as spending an hour in a hot tub or jacuzzi. As long as there is no bleeding, it's ok to limit hot baths to 10-15 minutes and make the water somewhere between warm and hot. Baths are very relaxing. NO hot tubs or jacuzzis, they are just too hot." i have heard that taking really hot baths can make you dizzy ect but not sure about how it harms your baby, i did hear that you shouldnt so i havnt but im not actually sure why

amberbaby: i was talking about using a period when you type. your sentences are already almost impossible to understand without having to decypher. just because you had nothing bad happen doesn't mean she should do it. every doctor i've ever talked to has said no hot baths during pregnancy. i'll trust them, thanks. **angel** i'm sure amber will say she sat in the jacuzzi every day of all of her pregnancies lol. how are you btw? how far along now? i could read back and do math, but it's been so hot, i think my brain's fried. it has been in the 40's regularly over here with no clouds or rain. hooray for texas... lol
