Insensitive Ex Boyfriend

Hi ladies. I am 18 weeks pregnant with my ex bf baby which should be so exciting for me but sometimes I feel miserable. I have been experiencing pregnancy carpel tunnel in both hand for the past week. Its to the point where I can't drive for long distances at a time and my dr office is 40 miles from my house. I asked my baby's father to take me to the doctor this thursday for my prenatal appointment but he says that I should get the appointment and the ultrasound(which is next Thursday) on the same day. Thats impossible to do. And to make matters worse, he has no medical degree nor is he working on one but he told me that carpel tunnel syndrome is not related to pregnancy. He said that you can only get it by having ur hands in uncomfortable positions but not from pregnancy. This may be a little too vulgar to put in this forum but I literally cursed him out. I hate when men with no medical degree and has never been pregnant to try to tell me how my body should feel and what it should be going through. I have had 3 kids and this is his first. I can't understand how he can tell me whats going on with my body.

i am sorry about him being a jerk, pff some men are so clueless, but i have to let you know that carpal tunnel syndrome does happen during pregnancy, you can even look it up online and you will find lots of info on it, i had this conversation with my obgyn this morning since i had an appointment, and i had been getting weird shooting pains in one of my hands lately, but although i knew it wasn't carpal tunnel syndrome in my case i had seen your post before leaving this morning and it intrigued me, and so while asking about my hand i did ask her about this and she did confirm that it does happen, in about 30% of pregnant women, and it goes go away after you give birth, like most other symptoms, but if i were you since you will be going for an appointment i would mention it to your doctor and have it confirmed to see if it is indeed carpal tunnel synd., and he/she may have something to suggest to deal with the pain... hope everything works out for you and you have a healthy pregnancy :D

and not to say that your ex bf is ignorant, but i think that someone like an obgyn would know better than he does :D

Thanks for the support. I did go to my doctor and he did say that its from pregnancy. I have to wear wrist splints on my hands 24 hours a day until I have the baby. The doctor gave me some meds to take the fluid off of my hands. My hands were so swollen that when I make a fist you can't see my knuckles...it just looks like a fat cushion. You definately said it right, he is ignorant. Because he didn't feel like it was pertaining to my pregnancy he wouldn't even take me to my doctor's appointment. So I had to take a painful drive to the doctors office alone which is 40 miles from my house. I'm glad I see this now. It shows me what kind of a father he's gonna be to his baby.
