Hi girls, I just need to vent as I am at my wits end here. I ahev had the WORST sinus infection of my entire life for almost 2 weeks now. I broke down after a week and called my OB to see what I could take. She said Robitussin, so I went our right away and got Robitussin and nothing. Then I called her and said it was getting worse, so she prescribed me an antibiotic and said I could also take Claritin if I wanted to, so I did. I have have now finished the antibiotics and my whole entire right side of my face is in pain. I cant stop crying because I am so upset and sick of not feeling good. Last night I was up all night coughing, which I feel like its bad for the babies b/c everytime I cough my stomach muscles tighten and its a deep dry cough. I am 20 wks with twins and I have a 19 month old. I am so exhausted all the time and I just want to lay in bed and cry. I just feel c__ppy all around. I dont know what to do anymore. I made an appointment with an Ear Nose and Throat doctor for today, but what else can be done. Sorry this is so long, I'm just so miserable. My first pg was a breeze the whole way through and this is the total opposite.

I understand how you feel. I had major problems at 16 weeks. I was barely able to breathe and was almost hospitalized since I had pneumonia. What helped me was my doctor prescribed cough medicine with codeine. It is safe for the baby, and I only used it because I was at my wits end without sleep or any rest. Codeine is a cough suppressant and helps with the pain as well. More than that darken your room, use a hot steam vaporizer, as it will help break up your congestion, Tylenol for your pain and take the phone off the hook. Just rest, have hubby make dinner and take one entire day to yourself. It helps. I hope you feel better,

thanks girls. My hormones are raging right now and on top of not feeling well I feel like I;m losing it. My poor husband is taking the brunt of it and is really being great. I just cant wait to feel better and focus my energy on enjoying this pg and my daughter.

I feel for you....sometimes you just need to break down and cry...and it doesn't help that you can't medicate yourself until you are numb. I will send all of my good energy your way...I'm sure that doesn't make you feel too optimistic...but hey, it's worth a shot. And I am so sorry the antibiotics didn't help. No worries about coughing. I puke and dry heave and cough all through the day and my mid-wife said that the little one is probably sleeping through it...they are resilient little buggers. I really do hope you feel better. I can't imagine what you are going through. Get a sitter, get in bed, and get some rest....

Try nasal irrigation. My son had a chronic sinus infection and we started on a daily regimen of irrigating his sinuses. It's been like a miracle. You'd need to use it at least twice a day initially, but definitely keep doing it once a day after it's cleared up to keep it from reoccurring. It's not fun (initially, after a while it's very soothing), but it does help. Use the NeilMed nasal irrigator (by the bottle, not the neti pot....that's not strong enough to get deeply into the sinuses). It's available at Target, Walgreens and other places. Use it with distilled water.
You'll probably need another antibiotic if the one you took didn't work.
