Pregnancy Edema

I've got it pretty bad in my ankles & feet despite chugging lots of water and keeping feet elevated as much as possible. My left foot is lots worse than the right one, and even after sleeping all nite they go down a little but are still staying swollen. Does anyone know of alternative "things" to do to help with this? Thanks!

I would be concerned that one foot is worse than the other, that is a sign of something being out of balance, what does your doctor say about it? Def find out. Other than that, I know you should always rest on your left side, keep feet elevated when possible, drink lots of fluids (like you are doing), don't cross your legs or ankles when you sit, take short walks to help circulation if you've been sitting awhile, stretch & exercise your feet/ankles when sitting (foot rolls, toe wiggles, that kind of thing), no tight clothing, socks or shoes and if it's really bad, maternity stockings can help. Mostly, this is something that will just disappear after delivery, and you just have to try and relieve as much of it as you can, but you probably always be a little swollen, esp during 3rd trimester. :-( I had it, but not dangerously so, with my first one. I remember being 8 months pregnant and being able to press my thumb about an inch into my swollen ankle and leave an indent! It was crazy! Just try and get off your feet when you can, but take short walks as well to help with your blood circulation. I hope you feel better!!!
