Hey ladies. I was just wondering if anyone experiences rectal pressure and back pain. I am almost 16 weeks pregnant and have felt both for about the past 24 hours. I called my doc and he did not seem concerned, unless I still feel this way Monday, and then he wants an ultasound. The nurse thought maybe the baby was sitting funny or just growing fast and my body has to catch up. Any comments?

well I have a condition called ulcerative colitis. To put it blunty my colon doesn't form waste into a healthy number 2. Depending on if im in remission or not can make me feel like I have rctal pressure when I stand for long periods of time ( like at work ). It feels as if gravity is trying to suck my rectum right out of me. It sounds odd but be thankful for those of you who dont have to go thru this. It is a weird feeling that I really didn't start to notice until I was about 20 weeks pregnant and started a job as a cashier which had me on my feet alot. Babyabs I dont know why you would feel that kind of pressure..are you already showing? Maybe the baby is putting pressure somewhere in that area.

I also have ulcerative colitis which sometimes causes some rectal pressure. I am 25 weeks pregnant and have felt increased pressure for the past couple of weeks. I too have noticed that standing for too long seems to aggravate it. It scares me a little too, however thus far doctors diagnose the pregnancy is going well. I've noticed the entire pregnancy that episodes of extreme discomfort for a few days tend to be a prelude to a growth spurt of my stomach and the baby. I also wonder if the severe constipation which accompanies pregnancy contributes to the rectal pressure.
