Short Cervix Possible Preemie Baby

I'm currently 23 weeks and was told yesterday by my doctor that my cervix is short and I also told her of a gushing feeling that I had a week prior.The baby is doing great, but I'm still very apprehensive I'm due on July 23rd, she basically told me that I'm not going to have the baby on that date she's not sure if I'll have him at 32 weeks or more...she just told me to take it easy..but what can I do to prevent the baby from being so premature?

Maybe your doctor can put you on complete bedrest... if you are in the hospital, they can also stop contractions... What did your doctor suggest?

There is HOPE!!!! I was completely effaced at 27 weeks and my doctor put me on complete bedrest. I also took Brethene (sp?) which helps calm your uterus down. She described my situation as a bowling ball on a wet paper towel. Anyway, I stayed on bedrest until 35 weeks and I kept going until 38 1/2 weeks!!!! By the way they frightened me so, I had thought the baby was going to drop out!!
I am with baby # 2 and nervous!! I am 19 weeks along and the doctor checks my cervix each month with an ultrasound and so far things look good. We will see later when the baby gets heavier.....
