Sudden Weight Gain

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and have Type I diabetes. Everything is great and I am under super control, thyroid levels are normal. I never really experience morning sickness in my first trimester, s I never lost or never did not gain weight. I see my endocrinologist every other week and have been following my weight gain. Normal has been 1-2 lbs per week, which has been fine. I just had another appointment today and I gained SEVEN pounds! WOW! I hardly eat any sweets (I have not craved them) and I eat organic and healthy foods. In fact when I do get hungry, I have fruit, yogurt, or some cheese. I have absolutely no clue where this weight came from. I walk almost every day for about 30 minutes and my blood pressure is perfect. I was told I am not retaining water. All the doctor told me was that we should be worried if it becomes a trend. I was just wondering if anyone else has gained this significantly in such a short amount of time. Do I try to cut back on some of the snacking even if it is healthy foods?

If you are eating properly and your diabetes is under control, then I really wouldn't worry. With pregnancy, at some point you are going to start packing on the pounds. Your body will gain what it needs to sustain the baby. There is no need to cut back on your healthy snacking. If you are hungry, you need to eat. I have two children, our daughter will be three in February and our son turned 5 months today. With both of them I gained 40 pounds. You are going to gain weight, that is the nature of getting pregnant. I think with my son I gained 8 pounds one week. Don't fixate on the number.

Thanks for the advice. I just wanted to know that it does happen to other people.
