just wondering if anyone has taken any cold meds. I am currently 18 wks with twins, and I am a little nervous to take anything. (FYI my doctor is in the process of moving and can only be reached on her emergency service number, so I dont think this is an emergency). I just have this wicked cold as does my 19 month old and I am almost to the point where I may need to take something. Any suggestions???

I know what you mean, I am sick too! It sucks! I have a terrible cold and cough. Mom of 1 is right, Tylenol is fine. You can also take Tylenol PM to sleep. I took a teaspoon of cough meds with Codeine too. My dr said it's alright. The problem is if you use it often because the baby can become addicted. But, if you use it one day or two, it's not too bad. Considering you need your rest and sleep I would definitely call your dr about it and make sure you feel comfortable with what you are taking. That way you can rest easy knowing you are keeping baby safe. My dr didn't see a problem with a bit of the codeine, but every dr is different. I only took it becuase I was dying and coughing up blood (sorry to be so gross!!!) Good luck :)

Hi girls thanks for the suggestions. I was sick as a dog all weekend. I decided not to take anything except regular tylenol which didnt really do much. Also my daughter has been sick so she has been up a lot for the past few nights, so I'm sleep deprived also. Last night I took a tylentol PM and my daughter slept late this morning so I got the best night sleep I've had in a while, but I still dont feel good. I really wanted to try and kick this thing without meds, but I just feel so terrible. I think I have a sinus infection. So I am calling my doctor to see what I can take.
