UTI IS MACROBID SAFE TO TAKE DURING PREGNANCY

i'm 14 week pregnant and my doctor just diagnosed that i have urinary tract infection? my doctor says macrobid or nitrofuran monohydrate is safe during pregnancy but i've read a lot of articles on line that it may affect the fetus. this will be my first baby and my husband and i tried for over a year to get pregnant so i'm really scared.

I am by no means an expert, just another expectant mom, but I have taken macrobid for infections both with my oldest child, and with this pregnancy. My doctor a__sured me it is safe. Have you talked with your pharmacist? He/she may also offer more information on the subject. Hope this helped! Good luck! : )

I also had the same experience and was so scared to take any medication. You will be fine, as i proceeded with my pregnancy and my baby is growing and healthy (knock on wood)....it is better to get this treated because it could be much more severe for your baby if left untreated...it can even lead to an early labor. So trust your doc, good luck! :)

I will be 15 weeks tomorrow and had to take Macrobid twice this pregnancy for a UTI. I don't know where you are reading it is not safe. Go to safe fetus dot com and you will see. A untreated UTI can cause a lot of problems. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Good luck.
