I have a question.I didnt gain any weight in my first 12 weeks. And at my appt today they told me I have gained 9 lbs in the last 4 weeks. Is that too much? Im not eating too bad, mostly alot of fruits and I love grilled chicken sandwiches. But I dont eat sweets and only fast food 1 time a week. Oh, and the heartrate today at 16w3d was 144, is that low? Its been in the 150s till now.

I'm 14w 2d and I am still down 8lbs...but with my daughter by now I had gained I think 10lbs. 40lbs total. They said it was normal for me as well. My daughters heartrate was high, then low, then high...she told me not to worry. I have had 2 appointments so I'm not to sure about this baby. Only heard the heartbeat once. But I say it is fine, my daughter was 144 at 20 weeks I believe.

elizhope, I have a doppler here at home that is just like the one my OB uses and when you go in for an appt. they just do it for a few seconds and record whatever comes up on the screen. When I do it here I notice that the number jumps around from 140 to 160 and is mostly in the 150s, but sometimes stays lower or higher. It depends on the time of day and it is normal to vary that much in just 1 minute. So you are just getting a "snapshot" of what it does, so don't worry about it being too high or too low unless it is under 120 or above 180.

what about my weight gain? should I be worried? even though the 9 lbs is the ONLY weight ive gained, i am worried about all of it being in the last 4 weeks. And I feel better about the heartrate, i didnt know, bc its always been 150's,

I wouldn't worry about the weight. It varies for everyone. Some won't gain and others just keep gaining. If you are eating right and you have a bit of exercise for at least 2-3 days a week (such as walking) then you are good. If your doctor informs you otherwise then you shouldn't worry. I quit gaining at 30weeks and then started gaining again at 36weeks. So there was a 6 week period it was on hold. So there is a chance you will have a slow down.

Don't worry at all about the weight gain. It could be anything. You could be retaining more water this week. I swear some days I don't eat a thing and gain 3 lbs, and some days I pig out and lose weight! It all depends on how much the baby feels like growing that day and what your body thinks it needs to stock up on. As for heart rate, no way! 144 is great. My dd's heart rate never got higher than 135 (117-135 range, perfectly healthy almost 2 year old) and my new dd (19 weeks pg) has heart rates of 140-141.
