What Are The Possibilities

I'm 27 weeks pregnant. I don't smoke and have never smoked and neither does my boyfriend but we live with my mom and she smokes like a chimney and she won't stop not even for me. Right now I don't have a choice but to stay here and I am praying that I can find an apartment by the time the baby is born because there is no way I am going to bring a baby into a house full of smoke but I'm just worried that her smoking will cause my baby harm or it will have breathing problems when it's born. What are the possibilities that this will happen?

I was in the same situation (10 yrs ago) with my first child. I remeber reading that second hand smoke can triple(?) the possiblity of SIDS. I think that is what I read. But my husband and I did move out ASAP after I read that information. My advice would be to move as soon as you can. We were very poor when all of this happened and very young but we made out sacrifices for the health of our baby. 10 years later we have a very healthy, active girl. Good luck and remember nothing is as important as the health of your child.
