i can't tell u how reasurring these posts have been. I have had about 5 episodes of bleeding since about week 7 now 13 weeks and 4 days. The last was 5 days ago, i pa__sed quit a bit of blood and numerous clots, so of course i ran to the emergency and was told there was a small seperation between the sac and something. Could this have been the cause everytime..why was it not noticed before?? im living in a foreign country..orginally from canada and i m finding it hard to trust these doctors. The doc has given me progestrone suppositories and another med. Im concerned this will harm the baby. The bleeding has stopped thank god but im having watery discharge. Does anyone know is this is normal?. I go to the bathroom what seems like a million times a day just to see if i started bleeding again. I really feel obsessed with this and it is even interupting my sleep. How can i relax?

lostinkuwait the progesterone suppositories are fine...I had to take progesterone shots for THREE months in the beginning. Imagine shooting yourself in the b___t every night without fail...and God forbid I hit a gusher vein...UGH....I got so used to seeing blood between the shots and my bleeding I was considering a field in nursing ;-) (not really but...ugh)... just pray and pray and pray it really got me through everything....

Hi all, one of my posts appeared on the board for a couple hours and then vanished. God knows why!! Maybe a glitch!!! Oh well, after two weeks of break I started to spot brownish/black blood for last couple of days. It also feel that I have some swelling and soreness down there. I was terrified. Went to see the doc. She says it's probably because of low-lying placenta. Is anyone else experiencing this? I feel a little better after seeing that the babies are ok.

Hi, I am living in Ukraine. This is a great site. Reading it shows me that alot of people are in the same situation. My wife is in her 13th week and began bleeding heavily yesterday. We went to hospital and they describe what seems to be placenta abruption (language differences make total understanding for me difficult). The medicine they gave has slowed/stopped the bleeding. Both ultrasounds (last night and today) were fine. Am really nervous as we lost our last baby stilborn (chord accident in 36th week). Our first one in 1998 went w/o a hitch. Good luck to all and God Bless.

Thanks christine! It was quite a scare when my bleeding turned bright red. But I kept my feet up and prayed! Now I am back to brown spotting. I have another U/S next week. Hopefully this time the doc has something better to tell me. I just hope that the babies keep fine. I pray for all of us.

Hi all, I just wanted to write to thank all of you for sharing your experiences on this site. I am in my 14th week of my first pregnancy and living in a foreign country with only a basic grasp of local language. I woke up two days ago to find that I had bled heavily during the night and was of course overcome with panic that my baby was in trouble. I spent the 1-hour it took my husband to get home from work to take me to the local ER searching the internet for ideas about what could be going wrong – thankfully I found this website and all of your stories gave me hope that my baby might be OK. It turns out that I have the same condition that is affecting many of you: placental abruption leading to haemorrhaging. The baby was fine but the doctor told me I have to rest (no housework – yey!) and that the bleeding will continue for at least 10 days. It is good to know that am not alone. Thanks again and best wishes to all of you.

Hi Sridevi, so sorry dear, never saw yr msg before today. I am sure you decided not to rush to the Emergency Rm over the weekend and took it easy. Even if you had to rush, I hope things went well. Please do let us know. For further need, anytime you feel bleeding has increased a lot and you have a bad feeling about it, it's good to see the doc. But until you are soaking one pad an hour and there is cramping involved the docs will always tell you that everything is fine after seeing you. But it's always good to se the baby through ultrasound and have peace of mind whenever you have doubts. Again I feel sorry for you that you did not get any help from the site when you really needed it.. Good luck!

Hi, just started my 13th week. I have some brownish stained discharge which also gives out a menstrual odor. Not sure what it is. Anybody experienced the same?

Could just be some old blood (various reasons). What does the doctor say? Have you seen one for this?

I have experienced something slightly different...2 nights ago at 13wks I had very heavy bleeding with lots of clots...I was positive I had had a miscarriage although I had no cramping. My husband insisted we go to the doctors the next day and he said my cervix was still closed and that the heartbeat was 148bpm...I was completely shocked to learn I was still pregnant. This is my 2nd pregnancy, and with my son I had bleeding as well but at 24wks with only minimal clotting and it was diagnosed as Bacterial vaginosis, I'm not sure it is the same thing this time since the bleeding was a lot heavier. Anyone had anything similar?

Bleeding is my nightmare every time I use the bathroom. I am so frustrated with the amount of time I spend desperately wondering if there is still a baby or not. Clotting, Bleeding bright red, brownish and pink... What ever the color or how thick. My OBGYN is probably the only person on the planet who wishes I wasn't pregnant because I go almost every three days complaining of bleeding at 8 weeks then 9, 10, 11, 12. I am beginning my 13th week. My cervix is sealed shut, my baby is moving around and having a blast inside growing and it's heartbeat is the only thing that lets me have a nonstressful drive back home.
Bleeding during pregnancy makes my heart race and my mind prepare for the worst news. I wonder why and how it happens to only some women.
