BLEEDING DURING SECOND TRIMESTER

Wow, I don't feel so alone anymore. I am just over 15 weeks pregnamt and had a lot of bleeding just after my 12th week. I went to the emergency room and they told me I have Placenta Pervia. I bleed for about another 3 days and then it stoped. Then I started to get the brownish discharge and small clots just over a week ago. It has not stoped at all and the doctor tells me that there is nothing to worry about right now. I wish she had told me that the dark blood was old blood and not regualar bleeding. It would have made me feel alot better. I am still scared though. I have 2 other childern and have been told that if this becomes more of a problem that they would have to put me on bed rest. That is almost impossible for me because I found out I was pregnant right after I seperated from my husband. He is absouly no help and I don't know how I will do it on my own. Are there any other single Moms out there with the same problem? How do you take care of yourself and your other kids?

I have the same thing going on. At 11 weeks and 5 days I had very heavy bleeding, felt like I was 9 mo. and my water had broke. Went to the ER, baby is fine, cervix is closed. Also had this around 9 weeks. It is very confusing and frustrating because no one can tell me why. Just that it is termed "threatened miscarriage" Im scared to death this is my 4th preg and my last one was born at 33 weeks....Im praying I dont have this one any earlier.

I am 18 weeks along and about a month ago I had period cramping and started bleeding (like a period) when i went to the bathroom. 2 hours prior, I had been to the doctor to hear the babies heart beat for the first time and everything sounded great. I had to schedule an emergency ultrasound the next day at my Dr's. office. The bleeding had stopped but of course, I was still spotting. My doctor informed me that I had was is considered a blood pocket near my cervix. The cause is unknown because it is an internal irritation. The baby is fine. I was put on bed rest (not actually in bed) for a couple of days and went back to work. About 1 week later, I started spotting 3 out of 4 days (light pink mostly). I went in for another ultrasound and the doctor told me that my Placenta was lying low but had moved back into place, so to speak. The effect of it lying near my cervix caused a slight irritation of that blood pocket, which caused me to spot. They put me on bed rest until the spotting subsided. I was on bed rest for a total of 2 weeks. My doctor said the key to getting back on my feet was to monitor the spotting and when I had 3 consecutive days of non-spotting, I could go back to work. Well, I would have 2 1/2 days and then it would come back light pink light pink. I would spot for a day and then it would be clear. I'm still spotting occasionaly however I'm back to work. I continue to monitor it but an ultrasound I had last Monday showed that the blood pocket is healing. My doctor went over the 3 ultrasounds I had and showed how it was diminishing. I hope this helps some of you. I know it is frustrating. I for one feel at my wits end but I has rea__surance that the baby was fine and that was the most important part.

Hi all....... I am happy!! So far it has been 7 days and no spotting no light brown, nothing!! So I go to see the Dr. this Friday and hopefully I will be put back on a normal pregnancy and see doc. once a month and I PRAY to god that I do not spot or bleed again!!!!!! For some of you new girls out there I have had bad spotting at 11 weeks, I am now 17 weeks. Mostly the red spotting was only on and off from 11 weeks till about 14 weeks. Then all brownish light and real dark brown. All ultrasounds and exams show baby is fine and no reason givin for the bleeding/spotting. My doc says maybe implantation bleeding or bleeding fron s_x or small tear in placenta. But no explanation at all could be confirmed. Hope everyone is fine...

My doppler arrived yesterday. It was really great to be able to listen to a normal heartbeat without having to travel to the doctor's office. Great news this morning, too. I had absolutley no spotting this morning and only trace amounts yesterday. Hopefully the trend will continue!

Andrea, What brand, from where did you order your doppler? Does it work well? How much did it cost? My husband bought and I returned ours as it would not give us any stable beat and had a lot of disturbance... We had to also lose 10 % of the money...

i had a grade 4 placenta and the cord was covering the cervics after 10 weeks in hospital i delivered via c section (no other choice) a health boy with no medical or physical problems although he was under weight due to being app 7 wks early. during my stay i meet 10 other women with bleeding problems of different degrees who all delivered (c section) healthly babies i wish you all the best i was told lots of bed rest and dont stress

First of all, to Millie, we have a Babybeat doppler and it's just wonderful! I hope the brand you were dissappointed with was other than this. It has really helped. Second, for those who need encouragement, after a scary amount of bleeding during weeks 12 and 13, and a diagnosed subchoriancic hemorrhage (placental tear) I have not bled at all since the end of week 13, and I'm going to be 17 weeks on Tues. I did limit my activity. This and my friends' and family's diligent prayers are what have gotten me this far. I listen to the heartbeat daily, and am feeling movement a lot more now, so I really have some peace of mind that I didn't have a few weeks ago. It's tough when even your doctor can not tell you if the pregnancy will make it. But, take heart. There is hope! Best health to you all!

Hi... I wrote a few weeks ago about my continued bleeding from hematomas in my uterus and about seeing a high risk OB. Well for the last few weeks I haven't had much of a change. I am still bleeding though light and sometimes just brown. Today I had a US (I'm 18w3d) and the technician didn't see my original bleeds. The baby (a boy) and very active and looked great 162bpm. The technician also found that I have a low lying placenta and a placental lake which she said could be the cause of the bleeding. Does anyone know anything about placental lakes? The radiologist wanted me to do a v____al US but since I have an appointment with the high risk OB on Wed. he decided just to wait. They said they wern't sure if the placenta was partially or completely covering the cervix. I was wondering if anyone has this problem. I read that sometimes the placenta will move up as the uterus expands. Does that mean that's the most likely outcome? Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Millie - February 24

Stephanie, If you read my prev posts you will see that I have had placenta previa. My placenta has moved since but very little. They say it's very common for the placenta to move out of the way as the pg progresses. But mine hasn't much. But now I have what they call marginal previa. So it's sort of in the way/very low but not covering the cervix. Hope this helps.

I have not heard the term Placental Lakes but I soposably had plactenta pervia at 11 weeks and now at 20.5 weeks I have no problems what so ever. I just had my 20 week ultra sound and my 3rd little girls is great. Very active we could not get her to hold still for pictures. I was hoping for a boy but I will love any baby the same and I am young enough to have more children. This is my third and my husbabds 1st child. This is very exciting. I was taken off of work during my 14th week and I am now 20.5 weeks and they want me off one more week. I tell you what the home rest really works and babing your body (no s_xual activity little house work) really makes me feel like a new person. Now I feek healthy enough to keep up with the family. Good luck everyone

Millie - I rented the Heartones monitor from their website. I rented the one without the monitor. I am very happy with it. Also - still looking good. No bleeding at all today!

Andrea - February 24

Oops - Display - I rented the one without the display.

I know this is a little off subject but does anyone have girl names they would like to share I cant find one I love.

Millie - February 25

Thanks Andrea and Meredith. Mine was Babycom (we bought it) and I was really disappointed with that one.

Well i know this is really scary, but its good to know that this is not so uncommon. I am 17 weeks pregnant and I started bleeding 3 weeks ago. It started out as a gush of bright red blood. then i went to the doctor and they told me that it was because my placenta was tearing away from my uterus and that it was nothing to worry about.I have been spotting ever since. Every morning when i wake up to go to the bathroom there is dark blood clots in the toilet. Ive been freaking out ever since
