Jenny, I totally agree that it's a very hard decision and depends totally on individual's situation. In my opinion teachers (I was one before this PG) have absolutely no life. Especially elementary teachers. So if you must work (to pay bills) then do. And do not feel guilty about it. Also if possible find a day care close to your school. So when the kids leave you can bring your baby to school and keep working until you have to. That way you can also watch your baby. My principle let many teachers do that ( I did not see many infants around though) I had several teacher who got their kids after school. The kids did homework while mommy worked on school stuff. I am not sure if this is an option for you. Also If you can do without going back to work (though not as comfortably) then please think about staying home at least for a year. This is the year the infant changes most: weight, activity, looks and all. They learn to crawl, walk, they teethe, grow!!! There is so much that you will be missing. But again think it through and decide. And if you have to work don't feel guilty at all.

Thank you Millie and Stephanie. I have alot to think about. Honestly this sucks. I dont necessarily have to work. However our savings is dwindeling(sp) i do have two daughters from a privious marriage and I feel I need to contribute. I am officially on leave now until Nov. 1st. Jorja will be 4 months and a week then. I asked for an extention and I have not heard if that has been granted - I ask for the extention to have a return to work date of jan 26th which is the new semester. However I just looked though all my high school students grades and it looks like 1/2 of my special education students are failing - and that includes failing my cla__s. I guess i have an obligation to them also ( not just to my family). I just look at my baby and I already miss her.My sister is the type of person that can retuirn to work in 3 to 4 weeks after delivery and it does not bother her and she said that Its not like Iam giving her awya when I go back to work I am only gone for 7 1/2 hours a day. I wish I could try it for a month and then be able to return to leave for the rest of the school year if I cant do it. But thats not reality. I keep telling myself it will get easier after a few weeks. anyway i hope all is well Take care . By the way to any one having bleeding issues - keep your chin up it will all work out- we all made it and so did our babies. God does have a pre determined plan. maybe he is asking you to slow down Find your way to God and enjoy lifes gifts. Jenn

I am at the end of my 14th week. I also have been bleeding for a couple of weeks. Its been light to brown to dark red bleeding. I have two live children and have had one misscarrage but have never experienced this before. After reading some of your notes I feel a little better knowing that other people are having the same experience and have healthy babys at the end. I have had five or six u/s all good. heart beat good. I am now going to see a high risk docter soon this week. Hopefully they will have more information for me. Some cramping but not anything to worry about. Good Luck to you all!

Hi Julie,
I too had heavy bleeding from the 13 week until the end of pregnancy (41 weeks). I now have a healthy baby boy who is 3 months and already weighs 15 pounds! Try to stay positive. I always reminded myself that brown discharge is old blood so I must not be bleeding too heavy and that made me feel there was hope.
When I went to see the high risk OB (18 wks) he saw a blood clot in my uterus that was bigger than the baby and still everything worked out. Just keep thinking postive.

Stephanie - I read your post you were saying that when you went to the doctor they seen a blood clot in your uterus? I am 14 weeks along and the Specilaist seen that there was blood around the Amniotic Sac on the Top and on the Bottom and they just told me pretty much to take it easy they did not put me on bed rest they just told me to take it easy and do not over excert myself. There was alot of blood a week and a half ago I went to the restroom and there was tons of blood and a big blood clot and I had about 3 little clots aswell I went to ER and they told me my Cervix was still closed which was a good thing but the following day I seen the specilaist and thats when she seen the blood. Does this sound like what happened to you??? Congrats on your Baby I'm glad everything turned out good for you. ..I'm just scared and nervous I go back on the 23rd of this month and I am hoping that my body absorbs the excess blood and theres no more in the next ultrasound.....

I had some bleeding towards the end of my 1st tri. Ive seen my Dr. last wk and told him Ive been getting brownish spotting/discharge w/ some clots. My midwife advised me that I shouldnt worry because its normal. Im almost on my 14th wk. I just dont wanna torture myself thinking something is wrong if my midwife already said that its normal. I guess if I were you I'd contact my OB and ask.

Hi Cathy,
Yes, your story is familar to mine. I also had tons of blood, twice at work. it was so bad that blood was actually dripping down my legs and onto my shoes. I also had blood clots and one in particualr was very large and hurt comming out. I really thought I'd lost the baby at that point but there was still a heartbeat. Unlike you, when I was examined my cervix was slightly opened in my 14th week. I guess you can have the outer part of the cervix open and the inner (and more important part) still tightly closed. This made me panic at the time but later my whole cervix closed again. The bleeding around the sac is also the same as with me. No one could ever really say what all of the bleeding was from. basically they think that the lining didn't fuse correctly but its just a theory by my high risk OB. As I have said in some of my last posts, my blood clots were bigger than the baby and still everything worked out ok. The one thing that worried me the most was that I could go days w/o any blood and then it would start again. My doctor said that either the body reabsorbs the blood clot or it will come out. My blood clot was evident on ultrasound at least until the 36 week. I got used to seeing it so it didn't worry me as much. I know it is a scary situation and sometimes you feel so helpless b/c your body will do what it has to do. My advice is to take is easy. If you feel like some days you need to rest more than others - listen to your body. Though I never saw any corelation between activity and amount of blood, others on this board have. Is this your first child? Please keep us posted on how your appointment goes on the 23rd. Just remember ancedotal evidence (my experience) has shown that in fact a baby can share the womb with many large blood clots and come out a perfectly happy baby at 41 weeks.

hi all..... I just wanted to tell everyone thank you for all the emails and support. I am thankful for this site!! My daughter is now 4 months old and I never even thought I would deliver. I went on total rest when I had bleeding from my 12th week through my 16th week. I was not told bed rest or no working but I didnt even carry a gallon of milk. NO housework AT ALL!! ( after 10 or so u/s doctor still had no excuse for all the clots and bleeding). My husband and 7 yr old and 12 yr old did it all for me and I believe that is what saved my baby along with god and all the prayers. Ladies keep your faith, god will work it out and I know the fears take over sometimes but remember, it all works out, take it easy, pray and if anyone wants to talk email me at sistersissy1@adsnet.com I am here for anyone, Ashley

Hi Millie and Stephanie, 1st off it is nice to see steph. on here offering advice for her successful pregnancy, I guess I should be on here more ofter giving my testimony to others in need this year.I too have a healthy little baby however mine is a girl. she was born 6-21 only 3 weeks early. I was induced for other reason besides all the issues I had with bleeding ( see postings in Jan. and Feb. 2005) I was on home rest for 6 months and I Thank God for all he has given me. I now am the Mother to 3 beautiful daughters, hopefuly I will have another baby soon. I said to my self when I was pregnant with my youngest baby that it would take a lot to talk me in to another baby, but I was ready after a few weeks. All of you having trouble , this pregnancy will seem to take forever but once it is over you will never feel that baby grow inside you so even though you are scared and want the months to melt away to bring you closer to that due date, just remember this is the only time you will carry this baby. Enjoy it!!!!!!! Millie - I was going to go back to work all the way up to 8 days before myy return date and I could not do it. I am now staying home I am licensing my home fo rchild care and I will get my teacher time in that way while I watch my babies grow. How are you all doing? keep me posted juniperjewel@yahoo.com By for now Jenny Happy Holidays - hey we were all just barely prego this time last year :-)

I didn't know that there were so many other people going through this stressful situation. I am at 15wks and have been bleeding with brught red blood on and off since having CVS test at 11 weeks. Two ultrasounds show everything is okay, but the sight of the blood, particularly in early am, puts me into total panic. I spend the rest of the day afraid to even go to the bathroom. I have three other children, and had no bleeding, but I am now 39 and thought that perhaps my age had something to do with it. Nobody I have spoken to appears to really understand what it is like to live with this concern every moment of the day - until I read the entries on this site. I feel much better and will keep you posted. Thanks, Beth Ann

Jenny, that's a great idea. I want to do day care sooner or later. But with the twins I feel so overwhelmed I am not sure I can take up more responsibility right now... Let's see, what time brings. Happy New Year to all...
