I am 15 weeks 1 day, and last Friday morning I woke up to brownish bleeding. It subsided by Sunday, and then this past Friday, I began the brownish bleeding again. It seems to have increased instead of subsiding again. I went to teh doctor both Fridays and had ultrasounds. The baby is fine and growing according to schedule. I also have a baby heart monitor I rented from BabyBeat.com (it is just liek the doppler the dr. uses) and I check the heartbeat all teh time. We are consistantly staying at 150bpm. I am still scared, and I wish it would stop! It seems to be a lot heavier when I wake up, and gets less and less throughout the day. It doesn't make sense to me since I feel like it would be less when I am resting. Oh well. My dr. soes not seem concerned. Who knows. I lost my last baby at 12 weeks. This is wearing me down. We all need to hang int here, though!! Take care!

At 13 wks 2 dys I started heavy red watery bleeding that was soaking through pads! I went to the ER, waited 4 hours, and we heard the heart. The net day I had an US and all was fine with Baby. The doctor says they saw a spot on my uterus that was bleeding. She says this can happen as the baby grows and it pushes on the wall of your uterus, and can break away blood vessels, causing bleeding. What a relief.
I am still having a brown discharge though and it has almost been 2 weeks. Tomorow I will be 15 wks. Has this haped to anyone else (the brown spotting after) I cant call my doctor for 4 days.
Good luck to everyone!

Hi Michelle - I had exactly the same thing happen to me. Brownish, dark red discharge that started at 13 weeks, but it started as bright red blood flow. The baby's heartbeat was, and still is fine, and everything was still sealed up. I am now nearly 17 weeks and am still having this brown discharge, kind of like when you're clearing up in the last days of a period. I have heard from many different people that they have known friends who have had the same symptoms and have gone on to deliver healthy babies. Stay positive and keep in regular contact with your doctor. We WILL deliver healthy babies! Yours in good health, Pauline.

Pauline and all.. Today I am into 15 wk 2 days. I started bleeding Red at 12 wk 4days. after that it stopped for 2 days then again spotted brown. on 3rd Sep I again bled more and it was brownish-red. I went to hospital and they admitted me. Ultrasound suggested that bleeding is from Uterus wall but away from placenta. I was given 6 Sylate injections every 8 hrs for next 2 days. Today I am back from Hospital and bleeding has stopped. I have to take complete bed rest, as adviced by doctor.

I am 14 weeks, 5 days pregnant and have had on-and-off spotting since week 7, immediately after hearing the baby's heartbeat at my first visit. I had a second ultrasound at 8 weeks and a third at 10 weeks. There was a good heart beat, normal growth rate, and no problems detected at both ultrasounds. My doctor said that I did not have to come back until my next normal appointment. I have two live children, and due to a genetic problem, I have had 5 first-trimester miscarriages. Both of my pregnancies that lead to live births had no difficulties. My doctor says he will do an amnio tomorrow. My doctor says that if I were going to miscarry due to my genetic problem, I would have already done so. I had some bright red spotting with period-like feelings this morning. I am now feeling what I think are early contractions. I had those from about 4 months on with my second child. I have been on mostly bed rest for nearly 8 weeks now, and I have been a nervous wreck through most of this. I will feel better tomorrow after my ultrasound, providing everything is okay. My doctor is a high-risk specialist, due to my genetic condition and my age, which is 39 as of the 19th of this month. My doctor says that there is no known reason for my spotting, which is sometimes red and sometimes brown and has come 1 to 4 days per week for more than 7 weeks. My doctor says miscarriage in the second trimester after detecting a heart beat and a normally progressing pregnancy is rare, even when consistent spotting is present. I will not be convinced until I have a healthy baby! For now, there is nothing I can do but rest and wait things out. I guess my case sounds a lot like the rest of yours. I pray my doctor is right.

Hi Michelle, hi Dara - Michelle that's great news about the heartbeat! It is so exciting to hear that - ain't the miracle of life grand! Dara your post sounds really positive too...sometimes we tend to focus on the negative things we hear and I know that I have the tendency to obsess about them! I like what your doctor has said. It makes sense and is very consoling. You just keep resting girl, and thinking positive thoughts. I've been knitting scarves like mad and my friends love them. Maybe you need to take up a hobby like that to keep relaxed, but keep the mind busy? Keep up those positive thoughts, and you'll have a healthy beautiful baby before you know it! Let us know how you go with the amnio. Keep those feet up girl! Michelle keep us updated too! And keep thinking beautiful positive things about your gorgeous little baby! I went for another ultrasound last week and our baby is growing fine. Seeing the heart beat is amazing! I feel so much better and my brown discharge has almost stopped, thank God. Good, positive thoughts to you all! xxx

Hi everybody, pauline, dara, Paige....
Paige, bleeding in first trimester may be cause of concern, but as you are in the last week of first trimester, so it is more likely that everything would go fine. Get your Ultrasound done, if baby growth/heartbeat is normal then tell doctor to give you injections to stop this bleeding. Do not panic by seeing bleeding.. its normal in more than 95% of cases. So be optimistic..Wishing you all the best. Keep us posted about the progress..
My bleeding has stopped completely. So in my case it did bleed Red for 1 day and for next 14 days it was brownish spotting, before it stopped. But I had to visit Doctor, get injections (every 8 hrs) and then my bleeding stopped. But I am happy that it has stopped finally and everything is fine now...I am on complete Bed rest as adviced by Doctor. Best wishes to all ..

Hi Prachi - Great to hear that your bleeding stopped. How many weeks are you? I just hit 18 wekks today, and I too seemed to have stopped bleeding, with the occasional brownish spotting. Prachi, may I ask - are you a positive or negative blood group? Cheers Pauline.

Hi Paige - welcome to the bleeding club! As you probably read through our stories we have all had similar experiences. I had never heard of bleeding in pregnancy before, but now that I have experienced it there seen to be alot of us out there! My bleeding seems to have stopped, but I have had brownish red discharge for about three weeks. I didn't have any injections like Prachi, but I have been taking it really slow and my doctor checks on me every few weeks. They can't find any reason for the bleeding. Boy it can be really scary seeing bright red blood! Stay positive and keep us updated with what's happening. We're here to help and support! Cheers Pauline.

hello, pauline and prachi,
today there is no sign of blood or spotting (knock on wood) it seems as though it only lasted a day, and it wasn't even a flow of blood, just when i wiped, after the restroom. i've been researching all night, and believe maybe i was experiencing the placenta privia, because now that i think about it, i did experience some stretching the other day. it felt as if someone or something was just pulling on the insides of me.
so i'm sure everything is fine, but to have it happen at 5 in the morning without a warning is extremely scarry. i have my next appointment in 2 weeks so i'm sure they'll be able to tell me if there are any problems.
