Hi all, I used to be on the Signs of Pregnancy forum and now I'm 16 weeks pregnant after 2 and a half long years of ttc :-)
In general I feel great but the last two weeks or so, I've been waking up with throbbing headaches that spread all the way around the back of my head and last right through the day. It feels like I've been sleeping on a pillow of rock or else had a few too many drinks (which clearly I haven't!). And it's every day. Paracetamol does work but I don't want to have to take it every day. I drink a lot of fluid during the day and generally sleep well, so I don't know what's causing these headaches. I'd love to get some ideas how I can clear them up or treat them without resorting to drugs. thanks for any input. Naomi.

Hi Naomi-
I am with you! I am 25 weeks along, and I have had a great pregnancy so far with little to no symptoms. But lately I have been waking up a few times a week with a headache... sometimes it is just mild, and sometimes it is so strong it feels like I am hungover. Although I try not to drink too much coffee/tea- on the days I wake up like that, I have myself a small cup. That usually helps for me... not sure if you drink caffeine?
Another thing that could be causing it is if you are constipated? haha tmi i know... but that sometimes causes my head to hurt as well.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me. So glad i"m not the only one! I have to admit I haven't been able to kick the tea habit (never really been a coffee drinker). I have to have a cup every morning but I usually just drink half of it. And definitely not constipated...you could set your watch to it lol.
Did you find anything that relieved it or are you just living with the pain? I suppose if this is as bad as it gets (til labour obviously lol) then I'm doing pretty ok but still, I have a big workshop next week in a language other than english and I dread facing a room full of participants feeling like my head is about to fall off.

No sorry, I havent found any meds- actually I havent tried any meds because they havent been too bad. My worst one yet was probably this past Sunday - I took a 20 minute nap and I felt much better. I try to stay away from medicine even though I know there are some safe ones out there. I would say that if they are tolerable, we may as well manage. But since you sometimes get severe ones maybe you should ask your doc what he/she prescribes and trusts.
