Does anyone know if metamucil is acceptable to take for constipation? I have a list of drugs that I can take, but that is not on it.

My doctor said it was fine. I use it everyday and feel much better.
Hope this helps.

i take metamucil and i am constipated all of the time. i especially hate when you are on the can and trying to push your turd out but instead you b__w a vein in your head and have to get it checked out and then you have explosive diarrhea at the wrong places and the wrong times. but once i started taking metamucil these problems just cleared away....into the toilet bowl. thank god for metamucil. good luck

Metamucil is perfectly safe - it's just psyllium husks. You can also buy straight psyllium in health food shops. It's cheaper than Metamucil but not as refined - hence it makes me gag badly.
Some fruits will help, for eg grapes, as will green veggies like broccoli, spinach, cuc_mber, lettuce.

I spoke to my OB and she said Metamucil was okay to take. Stool softeners also.

Try oatmeal cookies. I love the iced oatmeal cookies and it does the job for me at the same time.
