hey ladies, i woke up this morning at 4:30 because i had a horrible stomach ache, i thought it was gas or constipation but nothing was happening, and it hurt so much. The pain has eased up a little but has been present all day and my stomach goes from it's normal pregnant self to really hard and back randomly. no pattern. And then, i went to the bathroom, and when i was washing my hands i felt this little gush so i checked (i'm wearing a pantyliner) and it was wet but not soaked and i couldnt tell if it was just normal discharge or water maybe? I dont know. Anything like this happen to anyone? I dont want to go and make a huge deal out of something normal. Sorry if there was tmi and i am 25 weeks along. Thanks!

apple, I'd say you need to make a huge deal out of it. I haven't gone through any braxton-hicks yet, that's what it could be. It could also be normal discharge, or urine. But I wouldn't advise taking the chance. Please call your doctor. They can do a test to see if it is amniotic fluid or not and if it is, you'll need to be on bedrest and antibiotics (someone on babycenter had her water tear a week ago. she's ok now). Please call your doctor and let us know.

Apple- you are experience braxton hicks for sure. That is exactly what you explained anyway! :) As for the fluid...have you had anymore? i would hold out for a few more hours, if you are leaking fluids then I would call the doc, but if not then it is probalby typical discharge which can be really scary- I remember with my first pregnancy I had that around the same time and was scared to death because it wasn't what I would have considered normal! When in doubt call your doc. Finally preggers- now there is something I hadn't heard...i didn't know you can have your water break and still keep the babe for a long period of time! How long are they having your friend wait until she delivers?

ejmeskan, it's some woman on my birth club at babycenter, not someone I "know". They figure either she had a small extra bag of water that broke or it was a little rip (which can heal). They couldn't see anything on the u/s but the fluid was tested and it was amniotic fluid. She was put on antibiotics and bed rest. She went in today because of a scare and they did another u/s and everything is normal. She has an average amount of amniotic fluid. So she's off bed rest and they think all will be fine. I think I've summarized it correctly. You can check out Vivian's story on the Nov 2008 babycenter birth club board. After reading her story, I think I might panic about a leak. So do you recommend not panicking unless the person is leaking for a couple of hours?

I'd say braxton hicks as well... I only had a few through out my pregnancy.... maybe 3-4 each time and then it was gone. I've also heard of what the others have said about bedrest. Better to be safe than sorry. With my dd I 'leaked' the day before my duedate, went in and they told me it had to be urine(I didn't take a sample for them to test as I didn't know they could). When I had my dd 2 days later, the doc said there was a tear way up at the top and that it must have tore just a little bit so I was right when I'd went to the emergency room. I was also lucky as I didn't feel well so stayed in bed most of those 2 days. Good luck.

Well, i did go into the doctors and was checked out, they tested the fluid and they said it wasnt amniotic fluid. So just as i was leaving i got up and even more fluid just started running down my legs, so then we tried to test it but it had already been soaked up by my sweat pants. So then i had to lie down and get another exam which hurt more than the first one and they couldnt figure it out. So they sent me home and gave some swabs to test fluid with if it happens again. That was last night and so far no more fluid so that is good. jenniferjo- the same thing happened with my first as well, i was leaking small amounts all day so i finally went in, they tested it and said it wasn't amniotic fluid so they sent me home and i ended up going back at 3 in the morning because i got a bigger gush and although the test was negative it was a top break and just kept slowly leaking out.
