Hi all! Icant believe we will be on the third tri board soon. I am 27 weeks, so I think I only have one more week on this board. Colleen- I hope everything is okay with CMV screen, I will cross my fingers for you. Tara- I admire teachers- I dont know if I would have the patience... I havent done my glucose test yet- I imagine I will have to do that soon right? Has everyone else done it already?

Bryandi - September 5

Colleen, that does sound scary. I hope that your bloodwork comes back negative. My due date is December 16th, but I will go a week early being a scheduled C-section. The puppy is doing good. She is a chocolate lab. Is it 28 weeks when you hit the third trimester? I will only be 26 weeks next Tuesday so I still have a ways to go. I always wanted to be a teacher, but the pay isn't that good here in Maine. Plus I would only want to teach k-3 or something like that. My glucose test is September 15th a week from Monday.

Hey girls, just checking in. Had my sugar test this past thursday - haven't heard any results yet. I go back in two weeks for my rh- shot. Then Oct. 1 is the next US. Feeling fine- except for really battling the blues. I though that was supposed to be in the 1st trimester, and here I am almost to the third... oh well guess that is just how it is. Went to start my registry today- wow. I have never been in a baby depot before, it was pretty overwhelming. I didnt register for a thing, just bought yet another book to read. I'm due in December- i'm way behind- aren't I?

Hey girls, Back to school was hard after being home for 2 months. On the bright side, I am only there through November!!! Micsmm3, I have been moody myself. I've cried more than usual, I also thought that didn't happen this trimester. However I read a lot of hormonal changes occur during week 24-27??? Blame it on the hormones. I am only 25 weeks so I am behind all of you - But I'm so excited. I love the movement I am feeling at this point. When is everyone's exact due date (as if that matters, they come when they want). Mine was the 24th, now they say the 21st is a better target. ( I calculated the 22nd, so somewhere that week!!!!) I go Thursday for my checkup, I am guessing they'll schedule me for the glucose. I haven't had any blood work for quite a while. It's been nice. However, my doctor does do it right in the office which is great. I am very happy with this office. I too registered at a Babies R Us, this past week. I went two weeks ago with my husband and I wound up crying - too much stuff. There are alot of guides that tell you what to buy - go by those or bring someone who had a baby recently. I have an 11 year old. So, it's been a while and its my husbands first. (I brought my best friend and got more done!!!) Anyway sorry for being long. Talk to you soon. Tara

micsmms3 pregnancy is an emotional rollercoaster sometimes. I definately would blame it on the hormones. I love the baby depot. We don't have one where we live now, but had one when I was pg with DD. THere is a lot to look at/think about. I agree with Tara, it might be easier if you bring along someone that has just had a baby or that has a child between 0mths and 2 years. Things will still be fresh in their heads as far as what was most useful and what was not at all. Unfortunately for me (the shopaholic I am) I already have two kids and not only that but I already have one of each. So I have everything I need except for bottles for either s_x. I even have bottles, but they are saying not to use any plastic bottles with the number 2,5,&7 (I think, I am not positive on the numbers I need to ask my doc again). And from what I have read the bottles I have (Vent-Air) are on the no-no list. Has anyone heard of a brand that is making bottles that have changed their manufacturing to make acceptable bottles? Tara, how nice only being back to work for a few mths before being out again! For me my work is really really busy from August to October 15th then I have some down time till my due date in December, and then when I go back from maternity leave I will be right back in the middle of our primary "busy season" and will probably start right out working 60 hours a week. Kinda sux. How nice that you have an 11 year old to help you out with this baby! My 3 year old is helpful on her own, but when you mix her and my 18 mth old son you get a disaster!!!

Bryandi - Have you thought about gla__s bottles - That is what I am using - You can't go wrong there. Also, Dr. Brown has many plastic bottles that are BPA free - the chemical that is supposedly bad in plastic. However, I did read that no matter the plastic, it is not good if it is heated up and that includes the dishwasher. I've done quite a bit of research this year. Anyone ever get crampy - I am not sure if it is a bathroom / digestive thing or if it is just the little guy moving. I had the cramp last night on my left side and tonight for a few hours. It's like an ache more than a cramp. Anyway - I go to the doctor on Thursday -

clindholm - September 8

Hi girls, hope everyone had a great weekend! The third tri starts at either 27 weeks or 6 months from your lmp. I will be 27 weeks on Wed and 6 months from lmp was Friday 9/5. Tara- how do they handle your maternity leave? Do they just use a temporary sub? Jess- you are ready for the 3rd tri board, do you want to go ahead and make the new thread? Micsmms- I to have been a little off emotionally. More cranky than anything, I just have no patience. My last pregnancy was so different, although rocky, I felt better than this time. When we registered for my dd in the Baby Depot, we didn't know what we were doing! They literally laughed at us when we brought up our list. I had a freind who had a 2 year old go through one of the lists and tell me what I really needed. People will get you all kinds of things that aren;t on the list so don't worry about it, it all works out in the end. Bryandi- I have also read that the Dr. Browns gla__s bottles are the best. They are rather expensive but well worth it. How long does everyone get for a maternity leave? I have not yet heard my blood results, hoping for a call today. I also have my doctors appt on Friday and the next scan on 9/18. I'm just trying not to worry. Pregnancy is way to stressful for me. Tara- It sounds like Round Ligament pain you are having. Almost like a muscle-pull type of cramp? If you are worried, call the doctor, it can't hurt!

Bryandi - September 8

Tara, I had thought of gla__s bottles, but from my previous two pregnancies, I didn't remember seeing very many gla__s bottles (but it could have been because I wasn't really looking for them either) Maybe that is what we will do also. I don't really care how much they cost as long as I know that my baby won't be harmed. We always did our bottles in the sink by hand and warmed the bottles up in in warm water heated in a kettle with dd and with ds someone bought us a bottle warmer and we used that for him. I get those aches often too. I get them a lot when I move quickly or roll over in bed. Colleen I hope you get good results from your tests. No news is good news right? they tend to pa__s on bad news quicker in the medical profession. I can take up to 12 weeks off for maternity leave, but work only pays for 6 weeks. The first two weeks I have to take vacation for then the firm pays for the next 4 weeks at 100 percent of my salary and the next 2 weeks are at 80% of my salary. I could then take the remaining 4 weeks without pay or use vacation time for it. It is kind of c___ppy that we have to use 2 weeks of vacation, but we get 7 weeks total vacation time at my level so I figure it isn't a bad deal. I think I am going to take 10 weeks off. What is everyone else planning on taking for maternity leave?

jessb - September 8

HI girls! I get to atke 12 weeks off. I will only get paid for 8 of them. I dont care, we just budget very careful. That will be Feburary and that means tax return time- so we should be fine. I want as much time as possible. I took 12 weeks with my DD, it is very hard to go back to work though!!! Regarding the discussion of bottles. I will probably use playtex drop ins. I read an article that had them listed as BPA free. Plus you dont have to wash as much, you just throw out the liner. Gla__s bottles make me nervous as I am rather clumsy and would probably drop and break all of them. I guess I will be on this board until the end of the week. I will be 28 weeks on Thursday! I go to the doctors tomorrow. I think I have gained at least 5 pounds since last month :o(

jessb - September 9

I mean the month I wont be getting a paycheck will be Feb.

clindholm - September 9

I'm not exactly sure how long I get yet, it's really messed up. All we have is Short-Term Disability and I have to use 2 weeks sick time before it kicks in at a whopping 60% so I have to back it up with vacation time. Probably will amount to about 10 weeks paid, anymore would be without pay (which we cannot do right now) and I will be all out of paid time off when I go back. I have a question about fetal movement, my lil bub has been very active lately but today he seems less active. Should I worry or call the doctor?

jessb - September 9

You could call the doctor if you are really worried about it. They can put you on the monitor to check for movement. or you can eat or drink something and lay down for a while and see if you feel anything, maybe your LO has been moving but you just havent had time to pay much attention to it. I hope everything is okay, I worry about that sometimes too. I gained a whooping 7 pounds since last month!!!! What a giant fat a__s!! Yuck! the doctor also said my stomach is measuring at 30 weeks when I am only 27 1/2. He is really cautious and ordered another ultrasound to check the babies growth and the amount of fluid I have. Im not really worried about it, I measured big with my daughter too and they thought she was going to be a really big baby- but she was only 7 pounds 10 ounces- so not that big.

Bryandi - September 9

Jess, I would love to take off 12 weeks, but to you february means income tax refund, to me it means 60 hour work weeks and very little time at home...I prepare tax returns for a living, and that is the most important time of the year for me to be at work. It is when I can save up extra hours to either take for vacation or cash out at the end of the year, so I don't want to miss too much of it. I will be able to take another vacation starting April 16th for as long as I want so 2 mths of stress and long hours will be worth another vacation with my family! Colleen, jess is right, you might have just been so busy that you haven't noticed the movement as much as usual, or what you did today could have just put him to sleep. Also the further along you get the less room he will have to move about so that could have something to do with it too. I think my doc said if I didn't feel much movement I should eat something and lay down for a while. If you can't count 10 movements in 10 minutes then it might be a good idea to call the doc. In terms of the bottles, I have never tried the drop ins, but I had always a__sumed they would be difficult or messy to use and not as quick as other bottles. Have either of you used them before?

jessb - September 9

My sister in law used drop ins. She had a baby the same time I had my DD 2yrs ago. They seemed pretty easy and seemed to do well keeping the baby from getting alot of air, thus eliminating ga__siness and fussiness. Im going to try them but I know all babies are different and sometimes you can to try several different bottles and nipples to get the ones they will take. I hear you about tax time. You might as well make that extra money. It does suck that when you go back you are stressed and busy though. Believe me when I go back to work I am very stressed and very busy too!!!

TaraO - September 9

Hello - been trying to keep up reading, it's killer being back at work. I am hoping to take off 2 weeks prior to the baby, and about 4 months afterwards. I don't get paid with the exception of 5 weeks of my own sick time, and I can't collect disability since I only work 10 months. I am hoping we can do it, however, money has been tight since the economy sucks. Colleen - did you call the doctor??? How did you make out. I have less movement now that I am back at work, but I am a__suming it's because I am up and running all day and I don't notice it as much. As soon as I sit and relax, I do. Most of my movement comes in the form of pressure. I am carrying so low this time, It looks like I swallowed a basketball!!! As soon as he moves, I feel like I have to pee. I don't remember that before, but I do go on Thursday for my checkup so I will ask. I am only going to be 26 weeks this weekend, so I have about 2 more weeks in this forum. Every book says something different, the doctor told me that 3rd trimester begins at the conclusion of the 26 weeks and 3 days. He said it's split into 3rds. It makes sense. I don't know though, each book I have says a different thing. Who knows. He also said he leans toward the earlier part because many women go before they are 40 weeks. Hope all of you are doing well!!

clindholm - September 10

Hi girls- Well I dodn't call the doctor b/c I was feeling some movement, just not the usual BIG movements and not as often. I try not to freak out (but I usually do). Maybe I just didn't drink enough water or b/c I have been real busy at work lately. I have felt some movement today so I will just try to keep track. Jess- don't worry about the 7 lbs, you said you eat healthy and haven't really gained much up to this point. I have gained about 16 lbs. I'm glad you're not worried about measuring big, since it was the same last time and you may have ovulated later than they estimate. Bryandi- that sucks having to do long weeks as soon as you go back especially if the baby is not yet sleeping at night, I would definately put in for vacation in April. I tried the drop-in's once but had problems with them leaking, maybe I will try them again. Tara- that's terrible that you cannot get disability, so they consider it part-time b/c it's 10 months? My next doctor's appt is Friday and I should find out about when they will schedule my c-section than I can get details on when I will be out. Don't really want a section again, but it's safer for the baby once you have had one. Anyone else having a section? Colleen
