Hi girls- Well I dodn't call the doctor b/c I was feeling some movement, just not the usual BIG movements and not as often. I try not to freak out (but I usually do). Maybe I just didn't drink enough water or b/c I have been real busy at work lately. I have felt some movement today so I will just try to keep track. Jess- don't worry about the 7 lbs, you said you eat healthy and haven't really gained much up to this point. I have gained about 16 lbs. I'm glad you're not worried about measuring big, since it was the same last time and you may have ovulated later than they estimate. Bryandi- that sucks having to do long weeks as soon as you go back especially if the baby is not yet sleeping at night, I would definately put in for vacation in April. I tried the drop-in's once but had problems with them leaking, maybe I will try them again. Tara- that's terrible that you cannot get disability, so they consider it part-time b/c it's 10 months? My next doctor's appt is Friday and I should find out about when they will schedule my c-section than I can get details on when I will be out. Don't really want a section again, but it's safer for the baby once you have had one. Anyone else having a section? Colleen

Tara, that is tough that you don't get STD. I hope that things are good enough so you can take all that time off! That would be wonderful! I hear you about the economy being harder on the household. It costs so much more just to get weekly groceries lately. Colleen, I will be having a c-section as well. I had one with both my son and daughter. I am hoping to schedule it for the Friday before my due date (which is a Tuesday) so my parents can come down to watch Tabby and Rory for us and DH can stay with me at the hospital for the night that I will have to be in the hospital. I hope your next appt goes well and you get good news regarding your tests you had done a little while ago!

Hi all! Colleen- Im glad Im not worried about measuring big. I really just hink that its how I carry. I have carried both my girls high and it makes my stomach stick out far. When I tell people Im like 7 months they act shocked like they think I should be due tomorrow. I really didnt think my stomach was that big, but I guess it is. Oh well!
I am having a c-section too. It will be my first. Colleen and Bryandi I would love to hear your experiences and how recovery was, I am really nervous about it.

jess- A c-section isn't too bad if you know ahead of time that the recovery is a little rougher. They tried to induce me at 36 wks due to almost no amniotic fluid and VERY high blood pressure. Well after about 3 days in the hospital it was obvious she was not going to come out willingly so we scheduled a section with a few hours notice. I thought it was a little scary, but that's just me. You go in to the ER and get a little numbing needle in the back and the Epidural- mine kind of hurt a bit which it was not supposed to, I think they had it a little to the side. In a few minutes you are numb from the waist down (which is a very vulnerable feeling) Once the doc came in I was delivered in 10 minutes. There is a wierd uncomfortable pulling feeling (I had a little pain so they jacked it up a notch). I saw my sweet girl for all of about 2 minutes before she was wisked off to the nursery for cleaning and apgar. The doctor finishes up getting the placenta out and stapling up and you're sent to your room to wait for your baby. The epi wears off in a few hours and don't forget to ask for your meds when it does! OMG, need the drugs! I didn't know I had to ask (thought I would just automatically get a dose when it was time). The first few days are a little rough and they don't let you eat until you "pa__s gas" as they so delicately put it. I ended up lying just so I could get some food, I hadn't eaten or drank in days. You'll want a Boppy pillow or other pillow to put your lo on to cushion your tummy for the first few days. You'll need dh or someone to help for at least the first day changing and helping with your lo. The worst part was that I was getting over a cold that had moved into my chest and whenever I coughed it was excruciating. I had to hold a pillow firmly to my tummy when I had to cough. They make you get up and walk around before your ready just to get your digestive system going again. Once you're discharged (3-4 days) you have a 2 week appt where they check to see that the incision is healing, than an 8 week check with your ob as usual. That was my experience in a nut shell, it may vary a bit by hospital. Speaking of the economy- how day is the daycare doing to be when we go back to work? I'm lucky, my mom watches my lo, but I still have to pay. I will literally be handing her more of my paycheck than I will get to take home. I try not to think about it. Colleen

jess, I think a c-section is easier if you know it is coming.
Both of mine were scheduled ahead of time. My experiences have been
very different from colleen's so I think it will depend on hospital policy, your
doctor and yourself. With my first my daughter wound up in NICU and even though I was
set to go home after 3 days per the hospital policy, the doc said he would write something up
for me that I wasn't quite ready to go home so I didn't have to leave the baby. we stayed 2 more days
then left together. With my son I went in Friday and delivered at 6am and by 12:30 on Saturday we were signing papers
and left the hospital around 3pm. I can almost guarantee you won't leave after one night just because it will be your first one
and the doc will probably want to observe you and make sure you really are ok emotionally and physically. My hospital also is very
on top of the meds. I got morphine in my IV for the first part of the day after I had delivered and then like clockwork they came in
and woke me up and gave me my painkillers every 3 or 4 hours and kept it up till I left. My first child was taken away like Colleen's was
and I had to spend the first 3 hours without her, but the hospital that I delivered my son in took him away for only a half an hour or so then brought
us both back into my room for recovery. My hospital also did not withhold food. I got the next meal that was served after my delivery, but they did keep
asking me about pa__sing gas and to try and have a bowel movement. It is important to have someone at home for a bit with you to help you do heavy lifting and
such. Just be aware that the first time you sit down to pee there is probably going to be a lot of blood. I mean a lot. I almost pa__sed out when I saw how much blood
came out of me. Sorry if TMI. Gotta hit the sack tty all later.

Thank you both for your experiences. Im so scared!! Delivery and recovery was no picnic for me last time, but Im worried it will be so much worse this time. Im not sure I like the part about the baby being whisked away and not getting to see her for 3 hours!!! Colleen-have you started to feel more movement? My doc also said in the next few weeks the movement will start to feel less intense b/c the baby has less room to move.

Jess, try not to be scared. The upside is that you know when you will be delivering and you know you won't have a long drawn-out labor. As bryandi said, evidently the procedure/experience is different depending on the hospital you go to. Bryandi- I can't believe you were released so quickly! My dd was a preemie born at 36 weeks (4lbs 4 oz) but amazingly had no health problems which they attributed to all the complications I had during pregnancy. Evidently, the worse the problems, the more quickly the babies need to develop. You have given me hope that I may not have to stay for 3-4 days. I'm not sure why they withheld food, but that was the worst part! I just got back from my appt and it appears this baby is much bigger than my dd was. She thinks he's about 3.5 lbs already! I have to go for the sugar test :( and they gave me the "kick count" sheet as well. They are also supposed to call me to let me know when they are scheduling my section. At least then I can get all the stuff here at work figured out. I'm thinking probably late November, but we'll see. Next Thursday the 18th is my next level 2 ultrasound, so I'll see of the calcium spot on his liver is gone yet. Tara- hope all is well with you, you're probably going crazy getting back into the swing of work. Colleen

Colleen, I am glad your daughter didn't have any complications. 4lbs is soo tiny! Maybe your hospital didn't think your daughter
was quite ready to leave and that is why they kept you both for a longer period of time. I am not a fan of hospitals myself so I made myself get up and
walk around right away, ate and drank, and worked really hard to pee for them right away (not sure why, but my body really doesn't like to let me pee after
the c-section, maybe because of the catheter?) I did all of that to demonstrate that I had done this before and I can handle it and was hoping they wouldn't keep me in
the hospital long. Fortunately with all of that it didn't take much talking to get my doc to let me go home. I bet that they will consider letting you go home earlier this time too,
knowing that you have already been through it and know what to expect. How exciting that you have another ultrasound coming up next week. Mine are all over with :(. No more sneak peeks
till she comes out in the flesh. I hope that the spot on the liver has resolved itself by then...have you still not heard about the results of your tests you had a while back? Jess, it is a bit
nervewracking, but the delivery part isn't really all that hard. YOu do feel some "tugging" type pressure but that should be all provided they numbed you appropriately. Recovery at home is tough,
but just take it easy and don't lift anything heavier than your baby and only do what feels right to you. Gotta go to bed talk to you all later~

Well, I pray that everything goes right with my c section. When you think they will schedule it? I asked the doctor last time and he gave me some general answer that wasnt really an answer. I think its tough b/c about a week before my due date is the Thanksgiving holiday and of course they dont want to work and schedule it then!!!

Bryandi- I forgot about the catheter! Oh that was terrible too! As far as my dd, I was told that babies develop faster when they have pregnancy complications. Her lungs were fine, blood sugar and temperature. The staff was really impressed. Of couse, she is a willful little bully now, lol. I should have known. They said 3-4 days was standard for a section. The only problem she had was jaundice and we had to go back a couple of times after she was born for blood tests. Jess- they should give you an idea of when it will be scheduled soon, usually around 38 weeks or so as long as the baby cooperates! Will you be making a new thread on the third Tri board for us December Mommies? I will be 28 weeks on Wednesday so I'm there too!

I am just wondering if anyone else is having any lower pain(much like braxton hicks) I have been having these pains for about a week or so now,, im not worried, just curious as to weather she is sitting on a nerve or if i am actually having braxton hicks, hope all your pregnancies are going well :D

Hi Ashley- Congrats on your pregnancy and welcome to the thread! When is your due date? My lo's name is Ashley so of course I love the name. I have never had braxton hicks (my lo was born early by c-section) so I don't really know exactly how it feels. Are you sure it's not round ligament pain? Have you considered calling your ob just to run it past him/her? Do you know what your having yet? Angel- thanks for the info. I actually have not gotten a doppler b/c I worry so much that everyone thought it would be a bad idea just in case I couldn't find the h/b, I would probably drop dead of fear myself! How is yours working for you? Colleen
