Elevated AFP 2 43 Scared To Death Of Spina Bifada

Hello, I have recently been informed that my AFP test came back 2.43 , can someone please tell me what the normal range is?

Just to let you know, most positive results on that test will end up being okay after an amniocentecis. At least that is what my Dr. told me. It just means an increased chance of problems. Sorry, don't know the values for the range of normal though.

I don't know the normal ranges either... but my doctor told me last week that she doesn't encourage that test because of the high rate of false positives. Its like Audrea said, it just means there is a higher chance of problems, but a lot of the time, everything is normal. my doc will let me take it if I want, but she thinks it causes a lot of un-needed stress.
