I have been reading this board my whole pregnancy. I am now 29 weeks and have experienced this rapid heart rate almost the entire time. I recently found out that I have a low hemoglobin from a lack of iron. This can cause the rapid heart rate as well as tiredness. I have increased my iron intake by choosing foods high in iron and it helps alot.

Oh, I feel so much better after reading all these responses! I've been having the same thing for the last couple weeks and I'm now 15 weeks along. It's happened when I go to bed, when I'm at work or walking down a hall at school, or just sitting around doing nothing. The other day, I got really scared because I've been starting to get winded and light headed like I am going to pa__s out. I took my pulse and it was 107, and even though I could feel my heart racing, my blood pressure was 128/68. Whew!
Well, I have a question now, what about headaches? I've had one now for like 3 days, today is not as bad as the last couple days, but it's still there and I just can't seem to shake it. I've tried Tylenol, napping, neck rubs, chocolate and caffiene, and it won't go away! Anyone else?

I'm five months pregnant and lately I've been experiencing a rapid heartbeat. It is more noticeable at night and keeps me from sleeping. I get very scared each time and it takes me awhile to get under control. I'm glad to know that other women experience this. I was concerned that I was having a serious heart problem. I plan to tell my doctor about this during my next visit. Maybe this is normal behavior for pregnant women.

I have a rapid heart rate but have been diagnosed with chronic hypertension (high blood pressure in pregnancy) - dont take it for granted that you're ok because someone else is experiencing the same thing! Everyone is different - get it checked out for the sake of the baby!

Hi
My baby is now six and a half weeks old. My pulse has returned to it's pre pregnancy rate. Just thought you'd be pleased to know

This is for Tracy, Aug 30 posting, who has the severe headache--I don't want to scare you, but this can be a sign of impending miscarriage. See your doctor!

I feel so much better after reading this! I am five weeks along and my heart rate has been so fast. It is worse with certain foods. With the upped heart rate is this "I don't feel so good" feeling.

I get a racing heart from food allergies. I had it before pregnancy and still have it now. My worst is refined sugar. I would avoid those foods that make your pulse noticably race.
